Love these types of Notes apps. First use:

New encrypted,
successfully Drawing--->Shapes--->Text Box,
successfully one line normal text,
Drawing--->Text Box and I clicked somewhere on the page expecting a box or area, only saw a small rectangle and when I clicked on it again

error

Power Up Your Copy & Paste Functions With These 2 Tools

PasteAsFile is a neat little tool that will allow you to create instant clipboard files using Windows Explorer.
Using Windows 7, you can simply right click on your desktop area or on a folder in a Windows Explorer window. You should see the PasteAsFile option in the context menu.

The thing about NoScript is the need to white list, I find white list useless in this sense. Look at the description of the plugin

It allows JavaScript, Java and other executable content to run only from trusted domains of your choice

My trusted domains are what exactly? Just because I like and trust a site doesn't mean the site can't some day be infected, what am I missing? (Unless one has no white list and let it protect/block every thing)

Living Room / Re: Fake User Reviews...The unwinding scandal
« Last post by rgdot on September 04, 2012, 07:31 PM »
For me I would not 'need' to look at ratings for things like books, either I know of the author or a friend or acquaintance recommends it. For gadgets and electronics I have never found consensus anyhow so ratings, fake or otherwise, have not been helpful. Example: DSL modems, there isn't one that has excellent ratings, across multiple sites at least.

Other stuff that I have bought over my lifetime like a car, furniture and clothes....consumer reports may be but not user ratings and reviews.

;D ;D ;D

I purchased this product in order to eat it and use the radioactive powers gained to rob a local bank, bringing me into conflict with my nemesis, the thunder god Thor. By the time it kicked in, it was 4:50 and by the time I got over to the bank in the Decatur Street traffic the furgin bank was closed. I tried to melt my way in but no go and my stomach was starting to hurt. I turned to the heavens and screamed out, "ThoooOOOORRRR!!!" And I thought the clouds parted but I guess not. So I got in my car and drove over to, well, it was going to be Denny's but I quickly realized that the emergency room was a better bet. The doctor there didn't know how to summon Thor and honestly, I was not really up to fighting him by that time. My midsection was purple as a eggplant and I had about a thousand IV tubes in me. Anyway long story short, I died, and I found that none of the religions really got it right. No light or tunnel, no old guy with a gray beard, no reincarnation. It was like one of those long anterooms at a movie theatre when you superhave to take a leak. I looked around all over for Asgard and it took like, six months to get there and, long story short, Thor wasn't even there. You may want to try the [...] douche syringe instead.

General Software Discussion / Re: IE change
« Last post by rgdot on September 02, 2012, 06:33 PM »
Welcome Larry. I believe you will find consensus in ditching IE but won't find any as far as which other browser to go to.

On balance I am happiest with firefox but its RAM, CPU and how poorly flash works have pushed me to Chrome and Opera. Mostly for geeky, experimental purposes I have tried Maxthon, SlimBrowser, K-Meleon and others. My earlier internet days were almost exclusively Seamonkey's predecessor Netscape.

Browsers are really out of control, this has become a serious issue. Load a few tabs, a few addons/extensions or a few pages with flash and they are off.

Part of the problem is illustrated in the comments, see how many people have commented 'but I am typing this from a Linux desktop'. If those people truly believe someone reading a Miguel de Icaza article counts as success they are missing the point of what success means in today's world (whether we agree with that definition of success is secondary).

While you're trying to keep up with FF versions, could you do me a small favour and count the drops of water in the ocean, and grains of sand in the desert and tell me which is more? ;D

My personal conclusion is flash is the guiltiest, not the only one, but guiltiest. I am running a portable firefox with flashblock and there is a difference with another running parallel to it without flashblock.
