Will DcUpdater pick this up or do I need to do it manually?
you need to do it manually if you grabbed 3.05.01 before my last post.

or just wait a day or two until i push out a new official update.
11327
Yeah, quite a few people were asking to be able to have some info printed along with screenshots.

Actually the Automatic Captions tab is missing a few fields that you will find useful in this regard.

If you want captions on your printouts, a good value for your caption text might be:
%file.nopath%\n%filememo%

Which will show the screenshot filename along with the memo contents.

[and if you are wanting to add the filename AND autoprint at the time of capture, please redownload if you grabbed the version before i posted this reply (noon forum time) as i just pushed out a minor version update that fixes that].

Finally added printing captions that people have been asking for, for a while:

v3.05.01 - May 24, 2012
  • [MinorChange] Changed default single tray click action to do nothing (change from shortcuts options tab).
  • [MinorChange] The delay set in WindowCapture1 is now used after moving a window that is partially offscreen when performing a transparent window capture.
  • [MinorFix] On minimized startup, SC will avoid checking for existing of screenshot and MoveTo directories -- useful for network share screenshot directories.
  • [MinorFeature] System tray icon menu items to open last image in viewer or editor.
  • [MinorFeature] Added pop-up context menu to file info/comments panel.
  • [Feature] Added option to automatically watermark and/or zupload new screenshots.
  • [Feature] When applying bluring/interlacing/hiding effects, the transparency of the image is now flattened, to avoid leakage of information that could occur with transparency interactions.
  • [Feature] New option (checked by default) to get actual scan DPI after scanning.
  • [Feature] Image captions now support multiline captions (use \n).
  • [Feature] Image captions now support %filememo% for contents of the file memo box.
  • [Feature] Image captions now include left and center align options.
  • [Feature] You can now have captions auto-applied to new screenshots.
  • [Feature] You can now have captions automatically added to printouts (can be used to print date, application name, contents of below-image file memo, etc.)

UserQuotes.com Web Service / Re: UserQuotes.com: Post bug reports here
« Last post by mouser on May 24, 2012, 03:08 PM »
DC member JavaJones and I worked on this for quite some time, and got it to a working stage.  But then decided there just wasn't enough interest in it to keep maintaining it, so the project has been shelved indefinitely.

Can you try Screenshot Captor -- it has a completely rewritten, much more advanced scrolling capture function.

Gridmove mentioned in a nice freewaregenius article today on multimonitor tools:

"It is absolutely a great program and it also supports multiple screens."

I've been so slow getting this latest update out, but i haven't forgotten.  This week for sure.
11334
I'm going to have to look into this, but a question: On the "Pre-Capture Options" tab, do you have "Hide Main Window" unchecked? Try checking it if so.
11335
Thanks for the heads up

Agree 100% with your comments about hiding.

In fact in every case where MS has tried to hide stuff, the result has been an unmitigated non-trivial disaster on all fronts:
  • Hiding (and rearranging) menu items
  • Hiding system tray icons for running processes
  • Hiding file extensions
  • Hiding whole file directories
  • Hiding where user documents are stored

Microsoft would do well to reverse this mindset and undo this stuff.
11337
Well if it were up to me i'd go back to win2k classic look, with standard menu bar and no ribbon.  But it's still a step in the right direction.

From http://techland.time...hy-im-glad-its-dead/:

The Windows 8 Desktop's Metrofied LookWindows 8 may be edging ever-closer to completion, but Microsoft is apparently still noodling around with it. The latest evidence: Last Friday’s blog post by Windows design honcho Jensen Harris.

He says that the company has decided to eliminate Aero, the default visual theme in Windows Vista and Windows 7. In Windows 8, even the desktop — the home for all classic Windows apps which don’t use the radically-new Metro interface — will have a Metro-like look that abandons transparency and gradients and curvy shapes for a simple, squared-off presentation.

Yes, yes, and more yes

Aero slowed down the computer, added additional unpredictability to ui design, and was a move in the wrong direction.  It's great to hear that MS may be moving towards a simpler cleaner approach.

Coding Snack Guidelines / Re: IDEA: php? program on webhost needed
« Last post by mouser on May 21, 2012, 10:25 PM »
I'm sure there is some existing php code to do search+replace over multiple files, BUT if someone wants to make a new tool that does this, I have written some php classes and code that should make the job much easier, in my (open source) mwimporter package.  Again, it does *not* do search and replace, but it will nicely iterate through recursive directories of files and do a few more helpful things that could be used as a starting point.

LaunchBar Commander / Re: First use of the day-long pause
« Last post by mouser on May 20, 2012, 10:14 PM »
It's not icons, it's that it's waiting for windows hard drive to spin up and retrieve the folder contents; after that they are in the disk or OS cache and so are quick.  There is no easy solution other than to have LBC cache the directory contents explicitly, or have LBC poll the directory to keep them in OS cache.  Neither of which seem worth the effort.

I'm afraid adding custom arrows is not quite as simple as you might think; it's not like clipart.

« Last post by mouser on May 19, 2012, 09:06 PM »
I am almost done with ME3.. As impressive as it is, I am not enjoying it anywhere near as much as I enjoyed ME2.  I would strongly suggest anyone considering this who hasn't played ME2 -- do yourself a favor and buy ME2 instead.  It's a better experience.

Point Motivator / Re: Suggestions
« Last post by mouser on May 19, 2012, 04:57 PM »
It's been so long since I used this myself that I've forgotten how most things work, let alone how I coded it.  If you can make a list of the problems and how to reproduce them I will try to fix.

Well I'm willing to fix bugs if we identify any, so I do appreciate the input.  Point Motivator was one of those projects that I hoped would catch on and give me reason to extend it.. just never turned out to be very popular.

Living Room / Re: What will be your next computer?
« Last post by mouser on May 19, 2012, 12:30 PM »
It will be a new Windows desktop for me when the time comes.  My current PC has served me very well and I'm not a fan of the new UAC user access control stuff in recent versions of windows, but my current PC is probably 5-6 years old and though it runs ok, it's definitely getting a bit cranky, and windows XP x64 is not the best supported OS at this point.

The only thing I'm considering doing differently is with regard to hard drives.. I think i'll give some serious thought to using a RAID setup on the new machine, as HD crashes are the only thing that really scare me.

FlipSuite and Flipbook Printer / Re: need to modify layout
« Last post by mouser on May 19, 2012, 12:23 PM »
The place you want to modify is the "Card Stock" tab.

If the first row of images is fine, then the settings you want to modify is the "Spacing Vert.", and it sounds like you want to increase it.

Use the "Print Test Page" from that tab to print a test page you can hold up to the card sheet to check for alignment.

Thanks for figuring it out on your own and sharing the solution -- makes me not feel as bad for missing the post originally.  I must admit that dosearch vs restartsearch is a confusing thing.
