I'm glad to see some recognition of the great talent expressed at codextransportica, the site really deserves attention :)
Congrats nudone!!

Also, after you run it, it can't be closed, you can only terminate the process :(

Finished Programs / Re: IDEA: Keyboard & Mouse cleaner

AFAIK Skrommel has been asked several times to recompile his scripts using a newer version of Autohotkey. Guess he has no interest.
Not exactly, wr975.. Unfortunately, it really isn't skrommel's fault, mouser has already recompiled all of them once.
The problem is that eventually, the AVs just catch up, and find "viruses" in the recently compiled versions.
It's really sad that this happens, but I think it'd be impraticable for software developers to be recompiling all of their programs each time an AV decides one of them is a "virus".
It's sad that things have got to this point :(

It's really easy to compile an ahk script with an icon, included with ahk, in the folder "compiler", there's "ahk2exe". Just open it, select source+destination+icon and you're done ;)

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: clean Taskbar without clock and start button
« Last post by jgpaiva on August 18, 2008, 04:10 PM »
Removing the clock is simpler than one would think :)
Just right-click the taskbar, go to "notification area", and untick the clock! (this is in Vista, but I'm pretty sure it's there in XP too).

jgpaiva, what other bugs have you experienced?
-VideoInPicture (August 18, 2008, 06:45 AM)
At the time I tested it, it had a few issues with windows live messenger, which was the program I was using it mainly for, I believe I reported it somewhere here in the forum.

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: Farr Alias: Window Management
« Last post by jgpaiva on August 18, 2008, 07:27 AM »
CodeWzrd: That just proves that it is a false positive. It's idiotic the frequency this has been happening recently.
Notice that recompiling the software made crush's AV not flag it, and Norton flag it.
Did it delete the file? If not, just tell it to ignore the file.

Vista does have live preview, if open 2 movies at a time, hovering over the taskbar buttons displays both of them moving.
During my searching, I did stubble across a few mentions of that. It has something to do with Media Player being fired up and works specifically for with/that.
Not exactly. It works with all applications, as long as they are not minimized. Try going to this site and hovering over the taskbar button of your browser, you'll see the animation there.

I do not run the games in full screen mode, still each instantance does take a large amount of screen space. The game is an online one. There's only 2 choices full screen or almost full screen but draggable and not cursor responsive resizable because the game simply does not allow it to happen. Keeping all 7 instances open with dual monitors does not allow me to view each one's individual current status, without switching window focus. I have 1 widescreen & 1 17-inch monitor hooked up. It's impossible and I have done more then tried.
What I meant was that you can keep them all in windowed mode, and not minimize them, and then just see their previews in the taskbar.

Also, you may want to give VideoInPicture a try, it might be adequate for your situation. Unfortunately, it's still a bit buggy :(
1135
Well.. I'm not sure if this can be done.
Vista does have live preview, if open 2 movies at a time, hovering over the taskbar buttons displays both of them moving.
The problem is that when apps are minimized, they "hide" the visual part, to use less resources.
Can't you run the games windowed?

I think AHK [edit](or some scripting of any sort)[/edit]will have to come into play to solve this :)

Andy: I don't think the shortcuts update when you move the files.

Oh, just remembered something: soft/hard links might help.

FARR certainly can do the "start" part. Just make an alias with all your programs (options -> lists -> Aliases/Groups), and give it some name. Then, type its name in farr, and press ctrl+alt+enter, and it'll launch all the programs listed.
It cannot be done automatically, though...

I think this is sounds more like a request for a coding snack than a feature of farr ;)
1138
You can use Stickies for that, IIRC, it has a network protocol that is designed specifically for those situations.

I support that decision, it's one less option to clutter, update and support :) (and most probably, it wouldn't make a difference for 99.9999% of the users)

Yeah, Armando.. I still haven't figured out what causes that, I wish I could solve it :(

Interesting, 40hz!
If this was supported by ubuntu, I'd jump right in :)
Still, I might probably jump in anyways ;)

40hz: Thanks a lot for the links!
I read the "con" review, and from what I understand, the problem was that the reviewer didn't make a clean install, just updated 4.0, or something like that. Good thing I haven't installed 4.0 on my ubuntu machine, I hope I won't have problems installing :)

I can't wait to test kde 4.1 ;)

Carol: At this point, I don't really care if they just copy each other, as long as at least one of them comes up with something half decent. Actually, to have them copying each other is a good sign, means they are looking at the others and (hopefuly) improving over what they see :)

Zaine: That walpaper is just gorgeous :D

I have mixed feeling with that new "icons" thing, I think it's useful to have it displaying several folders on the desktop, but I also think it takes quite a bit of screen real-estate, with displaying the frame and its title. Zaine: does the frame resize when you add files to the folder, or do you have to resize it yourself? (yeah, I know I could install kde4.1 myself, but I'm on vacations and can't download it while on this mobile connection :( )

40 hz: Did you try 4.0? Do your think this new version is an improvement over it? Do you think 4.0 was usable? How about 4.1?

The best virtual screen manager I've used is bblean, the only problem is that it in a fall-blown shell, not just a virtual screen manager. Still, it's the faster, stabler and with better keyboard shortcuts I've found (others usually miss the 'send to next screen' shortcut).

KDE was updated to 4.1 a few days ago. Arstechnica also made a few positive comments to this new release. Read more about it here: http://arstechnica.c...inux-experience.html
