If you have a bunch of images in a post
AND
you want to change/update some of them,
do you have to renumber all images (attachthumb=1  etc) so that the last attached image shows as say number 4 out of 9

comprendez? (wouldn't blame ye if ye don't)

I will be adding details but not putting myself under pressure, so I guess its no harm if you do ...

was experimenting with using minireview template but think it takes up too much space for so many programmes (even cut back to minimal details)

EDIT: was simply going to add comments as I come across them in threads here (or elsewhere)

It was talking a lot about the speed of programme when working with very large numbers of files/disks

 anyone any ideas ?

The only sync app I’ve found to be as accurate is DirSync, but it’s not as fast as Super Flexible File Synchronizer Pro. It has both a wizard step-by-step mode or an advanced mode. Profiles are simple to setup, easy to alter, and can be scheduled remotely. Worth every penny to protect your files.

Getting the Register-Information is very easy:

unfortunately theres nothing after "SN" in regristry. SN is there.
Top of the list after "(Standard)" it says "Wert nicht gesetzt", which roughly translates as - Value not set/fixed.
That doesn't sound too promising. Theres nothing written after the rest.

The programme works fine - I did activate it but cant remember was it confirmed or not ..
Is the registration number visible in your regristry?

For files that need a program to print them since they are not in a printer-native format (like *.doc or *.pdf), you can usually drag-n-drop them onto a printer icon - that'll cause the system to invoke the program associated with the file (ie., Word or Acrobat) to print the files.

far as I know you can set up Directory Opus to send files directly to the printer from the file manager. Havent done it myself, requires a bit of customising.
If you have it, have a look in the manual or go to forums.

I got a new mouse there a while ago.

For some reason, for a while I used the mouse-lefthand, and a trackballthingy-righthand.

It was good fun, and made mouse work less strenuous.
They both worked together - in Freehand at any rate

Was a Logitech MX310 & a Logitech Trackman Marblewheel.

Dont know now why I stopped - think I needed the USB port

If the both end up on the same edge they can share the same column (or row) and be separated by a spacer (it gets there automatically).

If you want them to look like apps just right click on the toolbar and set it to View>small icons and turn off Show Text and Show Title.

ahhhh .... someone in MS had some good ideas!

Personally I prefer to retain the toolbar at the bottom on the task bar. It takes up no space on the desktop at all and has the advantage that any folders in the list produce a cascading menu system rather than opening folders in Explorer.

that sounds easier,
didn't like the full "Desktop" title but realised can simply use a different folder
(with shorter name so it doesnt use up so much taskbar)

I'm wondering, if thats your taskbar on the right, are all those icons in the top half quicklaunch shortcuts?
if so (or also if no  ) how do you get the spacers between them?

I do not keep my taskbar at the bottom of my screen...I keep it on the right side...and a large toolbar on the left with more shortcuts. I also keep my desktop shortcuts turned off so I do not see them (I rarely ever see the desktop any way, so keeping them turned on is pointless)

Both the taskbar and the left side toolbar are organized quite well with each category of shortcut having its own section.

hmm, that looks like i nightmare to correct perfectly.

if you can get away with it i think i'd try using a fresh perfect grid and then overlay the stones over the top of it - using something like photoshop that allows using layers and the usual blending and opacity features. this would look okay with the right amount of time spent on it but it wouldn't be an automatic one click process - so it's not really the solution you are looking for. it really depends on how much manual input you want to use.

I have found a relatively simple solution to current problem - I'm tracing/copying (vector) these dodgy scans, so, I overlay a 1cm grid - same as what original was drawn on.
They dont match due to the distortion, so as I move around the image I shift the scan so it lines up with the overlaid grid. Relatively easy & relatively accurate to boot.

so its not that I have to correct them in & of themselves -

okay,
heres a quarter of one image (A4 size), it's a plan of a stone circle - I've overlaid a heavy grid for clarity here, also tried to choose an area that wasn't too cluttered with stones



If you think it's not too bad,
keep in mind it's a quarter of one image that's supposed to join up with four other A4 images to make one large drawing.
Also, it's at a scale of 1 to 100 so if it's one mm out thats multiplied by 100 ..

Note: they were drawn in the field this way, notebook-paper is already distorted from years of heated room to cold humidity & back, then photocopied & sent to me & I scan it - I know there must be a better way but thats the way it's happening for the foreseeable future.

Also, across 297mm (A4 page height) you can get a lot of wobbeldy bits going in various directions on one line 

It would be nice though, to be able to photograph a really large drawing & know you could correct it later.
I was working on some over 6 foot drawings a couple of years ago but that was all done by hand & photographically reduced later (professionally). no, it was scanned professionally, they used to be photographed (reprographed)

If you have Photoshop, manual perspective correction is very easy.

1) Turn on the grid (Ctrl+') - you can customize the grid in Photoshop's preferences.
2) Make a rectangular selection around the object to correct.
3) Switch to free-transform mode (Ctrl+T).
4) Hold down Ctrl and start dragging the corner transform handles.
5) When happy with the result, press Enter.

problem is the distortion is very irregular -
instead of having a straight line, I often have a wavey line - the distortion is not correctable by a simple transform/skew/straighten up the edges of image/solution, or even by correction of curved line to straight line (which way lens correction software works)

Jaws [PDF Creator and Editor] software is chearp, solid and reliable. ..... I haven't seen updates at Jaws which address all the growing options in the PDF format.

If you simply want to create PDF files and edit them, Jaws is well worth a look. If you want to edit files from other sources then you may need to look elsewhere.
