General Software Discussion / Re: Converting Spreadsheet to Table in forum
« Last post by tomos on May 25, 2007, 08:31 AM »
See post Number 2
in this thread for a list of 213 (or is it 214  :) ) created by Crush
and facilitated by Crono's convert from spreadsheet to Forum Table batch file

Please post any opinions !!

follow the link to post#2 in quote above to see the final (successful) conversion of .csv file to forum table

- takes a bit of work though to get the multi-line cells.
(especially when there's over a hundered of them :P )
If others want to use this it's possible limiting the width of the columns [edit: if that's possible] would be an easier way to go?

thanks again to crono & everyone else who chipped in   :)

This is a test run
I actually think it should go in Post #1
Cause Post#1 is now a shown up as a fairly arbitrary collection/short list

I believe there is still the option to post the long list in it's own page instead of here
or simply to post it in it's own thread

Please post any opinions !!

tidied the "Long" list up, and made a bunch of corrections -
it should be much more readable now

just in case:
to view off screen parts:
click in the table & use right & left arrow button to see off-screen parts

That clock is a good one - Sarbyx Trayclock - http://www.sarbyxlab...com/en/download.html

Note - there are many available font/color styles - use an image browser in the appropriate subfolder to see them.  The one I use was tweaked by adjusting hue and contrast (i got bad eyes;-)

got a shock when I saw the price - no -
thats for the "full" Sarbyx organiser thingy [EDIT clock is free]

looks very nice

sorry :-[ I'm really taking this thread off course

Re the plugins page -
http://www.photofilt.../plugins.php?lang=en

does anyone know is there a way to download all 36 plugins at the same time
maybe some download manager or FF extension would do that ??

Hi Tom, in the last few years i always use DownThemAll, a FF extension, for such issues.

Thanks Abterix!
10882
PS just tried Stardownloader - it won't work via Context Menu in FF 2 BUT if you install it and run the leecher as a standablone, you can enter the url and it works. I've just noticed that there is a filter that will allow you to define what you want and ignore other things like urls and site graphics. This may be a feature of the Pro version only though (a quick look at the website if uninformative)...

Anyway, I just successfully used Stardownloader Pro download them all (and filter out the graphcis, etc.).

Hope this helps...

Thanks Mike,
that's a handy tip for lazy beggars like me  ;)

I'm a bit embarrassed to be so lazy as to not want to go through them & pick out what I wanted,
but,
in fairness - just had another look - & most of them seem worthwhile

Has anyone tried downloading the full version?

maybe the site was having some trouble earlier -
I just downloaded it with FF (no download aids) no problem

As an alternative I am currently trying DriveImage Xml, I've made images but I haven't restored from them yet.

justice
Is that difficult to use ?

or maybe I should ask do you think would it be user friendly for non-experts  :)

Hey! I found the most expensive File/Disc-Cataloger on the world today (not yet included in the list).

It´s Catalyzer http://www.axiope.co...p/importheaders.html
This is a real bargain for only 9000$/8000€ commercial licence (ok for 5 installations).
The cheaper version for non-profit-usage costs only the half of it  :D
...
How could you call such a pricing? Harakiri-Marketing?

hey, they wont need to sell many though  :D

at first boot, a windows (low-res) appears asking me to chose between French or US Windows XP, French being selected by default.  I am supposed to be able to change the choice with up and down arrow keys, and validate with enter.  Alas none of these keys seem to be operative.

Actually having a French XP, a German XP, or a US XP is quite different, you cannot simply change the default language.

As you say you cant actually change the actual operating language unless you have two copies of XP installed -
I wonder in that case what that choice -between French or US Windows XP- actually was/is?

Maybe it shouldnt even be there - that being why it doesnt work?

XP Pro takes about 12 minutes to fully boot and I'm  :wallbash: stumped by it! NB Disabling ZoneAlarm Pro and Winpatrol Plus from starting with Windows has helped quite a bit. but I still can't see why it takes so long. An app that would do as you suggest (amongst other things) would be mana from heaven...

this is old now Darwin, & maybe you've figured it all out -
but
if not have you seen the thread where they figured out that Microsoft Update was causing a lot of problems, esp at startup.

If you change to WinUpdate -
If you have ever gone to the Windows Update page it asks you to upgrade to Microsoft Update so you may have done it without thinking. You can opt to revert to Windows update (it is hidden in one of the links on the left) and that certainly solved my startup problems.

You could just wear a pair of sunglasses or get a real filter for your screen, rather than trying to make a homemade one.
...
I am beginning to wonder if I should start saving my money and buy one for this LCD. It's been over a year and I still haven't been able to get used to the difference between a CRT and LCD.

App:
I thought LCD etc screens were supposed to be easier on the eyes  :tellme: -
do you have a very high contrast one or whats the problem getting used to it ?

Actually, that's not a bug. It's a feature tongue
Pressing alt+f1 launches the first result, alt+f2 launches the second result, alt+f3 launches the third result and... yes, you've guessed it. Pressing alt+f4 launches the fourth result.  That's a fast way to launch any of the results on the result list, up to f9 Wink
-jgpaiva

didnt realise that cause -  alt+1, alt+2, etc. works to launch as well ..

Hi all,

There is a program called Columnizer (freebie) - from Gulf Coastal Software.
It does a lot of stuff with aligning columns, adding or deleting lines or characters. I really don't know whether it is of any use in this situation or not, but thought I'd mention it

David

Hi David,
thanks for that

I couldnt find a home page for that -
could you tell us a bit more about it or give a link ?

I did find the programme for download here -

thanks

Hi Tomos,
I tried to dive into "Openoffice.org XML Export Filter"-Programming. This would be the "cleanest" way to do it, but I haven't found the time right now.
The #-thing would work at least I believe...

Try:
@echo off
set infile=%1%
sed -e "s/#/\[br\]/g" "%infile%" > temp1.txt
sed -e "s/;/\[\/td\]\[td\]/g" temp1.txt > temp2.txt
sed -e "s/$/\[\/td\]\[\/tr]/g" temp2.txt > temp1.txt
sed -e "s/^/\[tr\]\[td\]/g" temp1.txt > temp2.txt
echo
> table.txt
type temp2.txt >> table.txt
echo
>>  table.txt
del temp1.txt
del temp2.txt
Its untested - please try it :)

Now [finally :) ] tested  -

4cat140.zip.exehttp://files.chatnfi...re%203/026/files.htm
DOS Cataloger
Freeware

from this .csv file (using "#" as separator to indicate new line within a cell)
4cat140.zip.exe;http://files.chatnfiles.careware%203/026/files.htm#DOS Cataloger;Freeware;;

looks very good to me
Crono  thanks again!
- will try it with the full list spreadsheet sometime (soon) this week and post a link here when done
