(but sure we knew that already, didn't we!)Automation is my goal for everything, but the speed limitations of UNMAINTAINED COMPUTERSyou could produce a dialup version & a broadband one, dialup, snails, etc keep me from being able to automate things.

... (I spy with my little eye... of course it could have begun with something else)Tomos, thanks for the alert about TextArranger. I just looked it over and tried to figure out just how I would use it. I haven't come up with any ideas that are not covered by other software just as well. Maybe I'm missing something. How would you put it to use, as a writer?-TomColvin (July 19, 2007, 08:08 AM)
I aspire to write ... as opposed to being "a writer"

Situations like this can only be mandated by public policy (the merits of this mandate not withstanding), and is what is most commonly seen in most free-markets today. Often these regulations can be seen as protective and/or anti-free-market; but in a global market, there is no
way a consumer or even a significant sub-group can hold sway. It is only when the TOTAL market (or significant portion thereof) deems this to be against THIER values, does the "consumer" hold any sway over the corporation.-steeladept (July 17, 2007, 08:54 AM)
Look at food -
Nestle who has always been one of the big bad corporations is now producing a lot of organic food - it's quite possible they're paying paltry wages etc., but the fact is when people want something, the big corporations (& everyone else) go and produce it or grow it.-tomos (July 17, 2007, 09:16 AM)
I am very confused by the example you showed, as that has no bearing (that I can see) on the moral values the market places on the corporation.well I was following in the footsteps-steeladept (July 17, 2007, 11:34 AM)

)You may want to see if disabling WinXP's built-in CD writing might help out:

...Just for the record (though
I found a program called EasyCleaner, and it looked like a really good program but I can't test/use it because it isn't compatible with Windows Vista. And it apparantly hasn't been updated in a while...
-wreckedcarzz (June 30, 2007, 01:11 PM)
)I haven't personally experienced problems with it - with Windows Vista I have had some odd bugs though, but I haven't really linked them to a source yet. I just (right now) looked through CCleaner's list of things to clean/delete and I didn't see anything about startup options (unless it fixed them in the registry cleaning part).-wreckedcarzz (June 30, 2007, 01:11 PM)
