« Last post by Perry Mowbray on December 05, 2008, 08:59 AM »
Well it sort of did for me (my list was disappearing much more frequently), but I've just been sitting here opening and minimizing and closing windows, and the minimized windows get lost:

They become active to minimize them, which means that they are not included in your list, then when minimized they never get back on unless you unminimize them then make a different window active.

So if you've got lots of windows open, they should all show up, but after minimizing them, the list will be empty. Is that the way it's meant to work?

Tiny issue:

The "Close Tasks" button is not anchored to the bottom of the window so does not move when the window resizes.

I've made some changes to your script, and it's ceased clearing the Log.

I added the following to the Timed: Procedure (if that's what it's called)
Code: C [Select]
  1. if (TitleNew="")
  2.           return

as a lot of "hidden" windows were being picked up when accessing the TaskBar etc.

I'm not sure why that works, but I just thought "If it aint titled I don't want to know..."

Sometimes an empty Title had an ID and sometimes not.

I also moved the lines:
Code: C [Select]
  1. Log:=NewLog
  2. TitleOld=%TitleNew%
  3. active_id_old := active_id

Inside the If active_id<>%active_id_old% block (but that doesn't make any difference.

  • The Add List button helps, yes, but still interrupts the flow of a keyboard lover :) I've changed it so the matched list is loaded & focused when Enter is pressed, which will hopefully keep everyone happy!
  • I was really trying to avoid adding a save button. There's probably another way I can avoid accessing the disk too much. Just need to figure out the logic :-\

You couldn't use buttons with keyboard shortcuts for both of these scenarios?

Congratulations Richard, as a simple To Do List it works fine (at least I couldn't break it).

And simple is pretty nice. I also use ToDoList, which now does almost everything, but it's not small and quick anymore (well, not as small and quick as it used to be)

Issues
  • Couldn't get the first issue to manifest: everything worked fine.
  • The Add List button effectively gets around the filename issue.
  • Third issue: plans for a save button?

Planned Features
  • Rearranging the list is pretty necessary (in your planned features)
  • Copy & Paste might also be a good idea for list management

Well most applications keep either a set of registry keys or a list somewhere of the recent files that you see at the bottom of the file menu after opening the application that's the files I'm talking about with that feature.

Using them or stealing them?

If it's just using them then the 9 file limit to Office stays  :(

If it's stealing (or maybe borrowing would be better), then the file limit is extended :)

I've also seen the RecentFilesView from NirSoft, but it was the ability to keep longer histories that was exciting me  ;)

* Group recent files by application for selected applications

Not sure how it'll work for the user, but that sounds like a dream! Extend the recent list of office documents past the 9 limit!  :Thmbsup:

« Last post by Perry Mowbray on November 29, 2008, 03:16 AM »
I'm not sure if this is the right place (but it seems best).

By a happy mistake (give-aways from a previous Review that got lost), I have 7 copies of Backup4All available, that we'll be giving away to NANY 2009 entrants (note: they are not winners as such, well, they are winners because they get a brand spanking new version of Backup4All, but they're not winners because they "beat" everyone else, per se).

Mouser has said that I should choose who should receive them, and although I feel totally out of my depth in this, I'll be awarding the B4A copies to those entries that I feel benefit DonationCoder (my argument is that users give donations because of the benefit they receive, and these awards are given because of the benefit DC receives). So I'm not entirely sure how I'll come to a decision, but Mouser wanted a quirky, widespread approach so hopefully that's what we'll get.

No matter what, NANY is a great concept, and we all appreciate your efforts!

« Last post by Perry Mowbray on October 16, 2008, 06:04 AM »
OK, found it and made the few changes for WikidPad...

1. Copy the following code into the WorkBook Code.

Code: Visual Basic [Select]
  1. Sub SelectionToWiki()
  2.     Dim specialChars As String
  3.     specialChars = Chr(7) & Chr(10) & Chr(13) & "\"
  4.
  5.     result = ""
  6.     For i = 1 To Selection.Rows.Count
  7.         'result = result & "| "
  8.        For j = 1 To Selection.Columns.Count
  9.             Dim cell As Range
  10.             Set cell = Selection.Cells(i, j)
  11.             cellStr = cell.Value
  12.
  13.             ' New Lines don't work in WikidPad Cells so
  14.            cellStr = Replace(cellStr, Chr(10), " / ")
  15.
  16.             If cell.Font.Bold Then cellStr = "*" & cellStr & "*"
  17.             If cell.Font.Italic Then cellStr = "_" & cellStr & "_"
  18.             result = result & cellStr & " | "
  19.         Next
  20.         ' remove the last pipe
  21.        result = Left(result, Len(result) - 3)
  22.         ' add a line feed
  23.        result = result & Chr(13)
  24.     Next
  25.     ' wrap the table formatting
  26.    result = "<<|" & Chr(13) & result & ">>"
  27.
  28.     Dim MyDataObj As New DataObject
  29.     MyDataObj.SetText result
  30.     MyDataObj.putinclipboard
  31.
  32.     MsgBox "WikidPad table copied to clipboard: " & Chr(13) & Chr(13) & result
  33. End Sub

2. Add a table to the WorkSheet:
Screenshot - 16_10_2008 , 9_54_19 PM.png

3. Select the Range to copy

4. Run the Macro: Alt+F8 and select the Macro and click "Run"

5. Paste the clipboard into a WikidPad Page. It should look like this:
Code: HTML [Select]
  1. <<|
  2. *Heading Two* | *Heading Two* | *Heading Three*
  3. _Two :: Two_ | Two :: Two | Two :: Three
  4. Two :: Two | Two :: Two | Two :: Three
  5. Three :: Two | Three :: Two | _Three :: Three_
  6. Four :: Two / Four :: Two: Line Two | Four :: Two / Four :: Two: Line Two | Four :: Three / Four :: Three: Line Two
  7. >>

6. Preview the page. It should look like this:

How can I copy a table from excel into Wikidpad?

Of course the table structure is quite different, eh?

In WikidPad I generally do:
<<|
Cell One:One | Cell One:Two
Cell Two:One | Cell Two:Two
>>

So all you'd need to do is to write some VBA to put your Excel cells into that format and put it on the clipboard ready for pasting into WikidPad.

At my last job I wrote a macro to do the same thing but formatted for Confluence, I'll see if I can dig it up...

We are looking at a Canon MP610 as a replacement - seems to be somewhere in the middle of the available range quality wise, but only time will tell

We bought a MP610 a couple of weeks ago and we're very happy with it (although we don't expect our printing to be perfect).

It's the first Canon we've bought. I like lots of people started life with an HP, the current Canon replaces an Epsom that died far too early for my liking.

Grorgy's quoted solution was the type that came to my mind initially, though "combine" can have a couple of different meanings/methods (as Carol's post highlights).

I guess it depends on if you're wanting to combine different versions of the same document together or combine different parts of a document.

With INCLUDETEXT you can Merge the document to a new document to actually insert the text into the document.

But if you already know your maths, StatFi is a very convincing add-on! However, I have not been able to reach the listed homepage, nor www.analystsoft.com, (if the company even exists anymore?), so there *might* not be any updates (to purchase). Last autumn it was offered at a 50% "Christmas" discount.

I just tried and it loaded OK for me here: have you tried again?

The last post in their forums was July 12...

Me too!

At my last place of work (a university) I installed their wiki: Confuence as well as JIRA. We used JIRA to manage multiple software contractors on our projects.

Just wanted to say thanks for reminding me of this one Steven. I'm sure I'd downloaded and tried it at some stage previously, but it has been a real joy reacquainting myself with this software.

It really does have a lot under the hood, and it does take a little to get used to the keymappings.
