Pripyatw? Are you going all nuclear!

Maybe 😉

(Edit: Not really, here's a better one)

I'm also considering the $12 tier so I can try out a VPN for an extended 1 year trial on the cheap.

Does anyone have more detailed knowledge/opinions about Soda PDF or Windscribe VPN?

FWIW, I picked up a lifetime Windscribe VPN deal on StackSocial about 8 months or so ago, (was ~AU$50-60), and have been using it pretty constantly while I've been in the UK and Ukraine, (leave UA tomorrow).

It's been great for me, constant connection and the speeds have been very good, (except UA in where almost every WiFi hotspot I've had access to, dialup would almost have been preferable - I'm talking about the raw WiFi speed, not after VPN connection).

All the exit gateways have worked except one, (can't recall it atm).
Using it via Secureswan on Android has been easy, (they are writing their own app).
Bittorrent is available on all exit gateways, IIRC, within reason, they start limiting if it's abused.
You can combine the Windscribe VPN program with the Chrome browser extension to do a Double Hop, eg. Choose UK in VPN program, the browser extension will automatically switch to UK gateway but then you can tell the browser extension to use, say, Germany.  So for browser traffic you go: Home->UK->Germany->Destination, through a VPN.

Only thing that would be better is if they provided the exit IP rather than TLD, eg. 1.2.3.4 i.l.o. uk.windscribe.com, (for Secureswan or OpenVPN configuration).  You can always look it up though.

For what I paid even if they go broke in a year it was still a good choice.  ;D

Two out of three Curt, Ukraine and the Dnepr river.

It's East Ukraine, just needed to add an 'o' to the river name, Dnepro (or Dnipro).

It's the Parus Hotel, originally funded by Russian interests but then construction stopped, IIRC, can't remember if it became something else.

It's also an area in which a lot of signs are still in Russian and a lot still speak Russian as well as Ukraine.

Currently doing a big loop of Ukraine, then it's off to Pripyat tomorrow.

And FWIW, I prefer Eastern Europe to Western precisely because it is 'another world'. Ukraine has the worst roads I've ever driven on but I wouldn't hesitate to come back given the chance.

Welcome to Kiev:

Is there anything new and ideally free?

Is there going to be a time when you provide enough information with your questions?

How much data are you talking about?

iDrive offers 5GB for free plus another 5GB for syncing and you can connect as many devices as you like, eg. Android phones, computers, servers, etc, accessible from any device anywhere via a web browser if necessary.  I t also does versioning with previous file versions not being counted in your quota, (IIRC).

As skwire said, you want more you have to pay for it.

General Software Discussion / Re: Malwarebytes goes full Anti-Virus
« Last post by 4wd on March 18, 2017, 02:33 AM »
That's not what that said to me, but maybe it's in the reading, ...

It's in the reading, if you ignore the overenthusiastic hype in the heading and first couple of paragraphs:

With the launch of Malwarebytes 3.0, we are confident that you can finally replace your traditional antivirus ...

That says to me that they think their product can now perform the function of an normal AV program.

They then go on to say you can still use your AV program in tandem with it:

But rest assured, we continue to support compatibility if you choose to use a third-party antivirus or other security software alongside Malwarebytes 3.0.

ATM, I'm still running v2 after the debacle of trying to get v3 to install, upgrade, or work.

I can't understand why they wouldn't see that going from signature style virus detection to signature-less would naturally increase the load on system resources.
One can only guess that the only machines they have to test on are all using top tier components.

It doesn't really say it's going full anti-virus, it says you can finally not use a separate anti-virus however it will still work in tandem with a dedicated anti-virus.

It seems to be pointing to the fact that with it's advanced signature-less technologies the use of a signature based AV is no longer necessary.

FWIW, I don't let MBAM do any system scanning at all, (or any previous AV I used except Defender and it only does the Quick scan), because system impact was always too high.
All I ever use is the Real Time Malware Prevention and on-demand file scan, (Website Protection is turned off because, quite frankly, it is a PITA).

It would be nice if I could restrict it to when a file is opened for reading but that option seems to have disappeared from AV/AM products quite awhile ago, (I think Outpost was the last one I used that let me do that).

As it is, I see no (verifiable) indication that this is an officially sanctioned giveaway. As far as I can tell, this is a random warez serial posted by a random person on the internet.

It's one of those programs that always seems to be available as a free giveaway somewhere, (much like WinX HD Converter Deluxe).

Here's a current one (Infinigeek - says expires March 15 but the software site says March 17):

WonderFox HD Video Converter Factory Pro Giveaway Video Converter Factory website

[EXPIRED NOW] Valid until March 17, 2017 - same license key as given above so this offer here is not exclusive to DC.

Having tried it once, it's main strength lies in the average user just being able to pick an output format to suit a device without having to mess about with encoder parameters.

BTW, if you're thinking of buying it, install it, then uninstall it - they'll offer a 70% discount to change your mind  ;)

Also, if you don't want to install it, use UniExtract to extract the NSIS installer and answer (N)o when it prompts you to overwrite any extracted files, (otherwise you'll end up with the Japanese version - which is OK if you can read Japanese), then just run and register.

@Contro: You still gave no answer on the question wether the original spaces between the words are there or not...

I think he did:

Actually, so long as distorted text has extra spaces between ALL characters (which includes the space character), you can make this work.  Every real space will have two spaces instead of one so you can do it like this:

...

Contro, give the above AHK code a try and see if it works for you.  Again, this will only work if each real space is actually two spaces when your text is distorted.

Yes. That is exactly my case in this moment.

Assuming the scenario skwire mentioned and you're using an editor that allows Search/Replace in selected text (and RegEx expressions) you could use:
Search: ( )(\S)
Replace: \2

Just make sure you only run through once otherwise it will remove all spaces on the second pass ... but then that's what Undo is for  :P

Although, you could just select each spaced out word and run the RegEx replace.
Running to try.
May be the best in short works and better the ahk script for intensive changes if necessary.

In pspad ?????

I think is with notepad++

 :-*

Works in both:

Notepad++
Search: ( )(\S)
Replace: \2

PSPad
Search: ( )(\S)
Replace: $2

My only glitch in the works now is that there is almost NO way to get Outlook to SEND the blasted email once composed except by use of the vbs script here which is one I configured a year or so ago.   It was designed to be a 'drag and drop' email app which it works great for.  You see a brief BLINK and the email is gone.

...

so far i have been unable to reconfigure the vbs to use a specific file rather than working as designed to capture the files dropped onto the VBS script.

Powershell

Code: Text [Select]
  1. %SystemRoot%\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe -sta -noprofile -executionpolicy bypass -Window Hidden -File "EmailArc.ps1" [email protected] somefile.rtf

I think what I was doing back then was sending an image file?

Yes but you might find that if you just write out a file with the links and call it links.html and then tell blat/cmail to use it as a HTML email body that it might be enough so that it gets interpreted as an email full of clickable links at the other end.

Otherwise, it's no big deal to write each link as <a href=http://some.link1.com>Link1</a> in a file and use that as the HTML body.
