quotes got a bit messed up there wraith, but point still clear.

We'll have to agree to disagree.  He's not sending because of the value is a very salient rebuttal to the he's not sending because of some other reason.
A misunderstanding there: the quote tags got mixed up in your post.
like you I don't like things to be misqouted, nor taken out of context.
Was also saying that I nevertheless found his previous post convincing.

Now to read what Ren has to say about it all :-)

One big benefit of the new version is that it's much more Microsoft friendly, regarding file types.

You mean in that it now uses MS Office file types by default?

@disenchanted, I haven't upgraded, but will at some stage. The advantage to me is continued support and improvement. They have implemented a few requests, and made a few bug-fixes over the years for me (via forum).

Out-of-context quotes aside, what you write Deozaan, sounds very convincing to me.

« Last post by tomos on November 16, 2017, 11:14 AM »
hi mouser, this not the fault of CHS but may help me find the fault: I'm having major problems including BSOD's. Possibly hardware related. Possibly HDD related.

I'm wondering could the following CHS error give me a clue -- it appeared after a reboot after a BSOD.
-----------
Error DB65: DBISAM Engine Error # 9732 A value must be provided for the field 'Index' in 'Cliptable'
----------

  • is 'Error DB65' to do with CHS trying to write to the system temp folder?
  • or could it be ...\My Documents\DonationCoder\Clipboard Help+Spell\Database\Temp
  • or is it trying to write to the location of the database?
  • or the backup location?

(they are on various partitions)
TIA for any tips,

And there's no decent session manager addon yet.

this seems mainly due to a Firefox bug:
if you restore via a session manager extension, it cannot load a tab 'inactively' -- all tabs restored will be fully loaded.
https://bugzilla.moz...w_bug.cgi?id=1378647

Oddly, it *can* do this natively: i.e. if I use the options to restore tabs on restart, they are *not* all loaded -- they are only actively loaded when I click on them.

noticed a dllhost.exe constantly opening and closing, which made me raise an eyebrow. I looked at it's command-line and it's to C:\Windows\system32\DllHost.exe /Processid:{AB8902B4-09CA-4BB6-B78D-A8F59079A8D5}.

A possible solution (see also the previous post at this link)

Could imagine sticking with it.

Some odd things:
  • I'm unable to get it to start with 'Windows & tabs from last time' (option is greyed out). And there's no decent session manager addon yet.
  • History not working here -- is blank (can be changed in options >Privacy)
  • Unfocused tabs are transparent here (Windows 7 w. a transparent theme) so unreadable with dark desktop behind

EDIT// #1 is available when #2 option is changed.

Who has tried it and has some thoughts?

Freshly installed -- most of my addons no longer work (FWIW I haven't used Firefox much in the last while).
It is being *very* responsive -- with just two active extensions anyways :-)

The big test for me is video -- Firefox has been a disaster for years in terms of watching video -- fullscreen especially.
That seems to be resolved now.
Might say more later..

With SyncBackPro, you'd have to check if excluding sub-folders is an option. (In Syncovery I can select what subfolders to in/ex-clude.)

Re the memory usage:
in this day and age, memory usage at that level (~30mb) doesnt seem significant (to me at any rate).

FWIW:
I may be completely wrong, but you give the impression that you dont have an effective backup strategy, re local backup at any rate. If you have files of any importance that you modify, it's worth considering and looking at the monitoring possibilities of your backup software.
1089
I have SyncBackPro, the installation-file is close to 27MB and it typically is something to run as a separate session, backing up your entire system.

from the Syncback comparison page, for the pro version:
Real time Backup/Sync when files/folders change
https://www.2brights...yncback/compare.html

I presume they would have a 'move' option -- I just checked and Syncovery does do this:
I use it for monitoring important files/folders, but for backup with versioning. FWIW: currently using 11mb in the tray, cant say I ever been bothered by it doing its job.
1090
Use a backup programme that can monitor the folder & move the files. I use Syncovery for backup (not able to check right now, but 99.9% sure it can do that).

How much do you need to backup mouser?

I'm currently backing up about 8GB with Spideroak.
No synching.
I can check my upload speeds if you want and let you know, but cant say I've ever noticed a problem with it.

I use notation for this and/or notepad++.  Notepad++ saves what you write as you write it and persists it between settings, though not in a file; there are plugins to make it more normal auto-save to a file.  Notation is the better option and the one I use more.

will try Notation, thanks wraith

The shortcut Ctrl+R works as a universal hotkey to restore scratchpad.exe -- not only that,
it seems to close whatever scratchpad file you have open, and bring the initial scratchpad.exe dialogue/window to the front ("Which scratchpad would you like to load?")
I have the same issue as Tomos. Is there a config file or registry setting that can be tweaked to change hotkey combinations? When I try to reply to emails, I instead get a new Scratchpad prompt. And another dollar in the swear jar.

looking (again) for a scratch notetaker:
any chance of the above being fixed @camerb?

Yes.

http://www.donationc....msg394988#msg394988

In a nutshell: The Bitcoin "Core" developers refuse to increase the blocksize limit from 1MB to anything larger even though people and developers and businesses have been clamoring for an increase for years. So the blocks are at full capacity. Which means if you want your transaction included in the blockchain, you need to compete with others for the limited space in each block. The only way to incentivize a miner to include your transaction over others is by paying higher fees than others. But everyone else is also trying to pay higher fees than everyone else so they can get their transaction included, so the fees just go higher and higher. Meanwhile more and more transactions are being added to the backlog. So if you intentionally try to get away with paying a low fee, you could be waiting days for your transaction to clear (the backlog tends to catch up over the weekend). And even if you pay what your software deems a decent fee, but for some reason fees skyrocket due to sudden increased demand (making miners consider your fee to be a comparatively "low" fee), then you could be waiting days for your transaction to clear anyway.

I remember now, thanks... so, that never got resolved.
Odd that it's still going up in price -- IIUC it's now totally useless for it's original intentions, currency etc.

is now worth about $22.50), he has finally taken an interest in crypto, and asked me how to access the funds I gave him. But it would cost ~$5 in transaction fees for him to do anything with it so I've told him not to bother.

one question - does that fee go up exponentially -- if someone wants to transfer more bitcoin, will it cost proportionally more?

Living Room / Re: Does anyone here use Bitcoins?

That's about $5 to send a transaction at current prices. And if you have a bunch of small amounts in different addresses, which is the recommended way to do it for privacy, transactions can easily be over 1,000 bytes (or over $20 in fees to send a transaction). And if you try to pay a lower fee, you could be waiting days before your transaction finally goes through, if it ever does.

it's ironic that it's so user-un-friendly, considering the opposite was the intention.
Was that covered here in this thread -- how that changed (I think it was, but I'm being a lazy beggar here - I mostly work on memory first, then search, but tonight I'm leaving out the search part...)
