I think they could but there are some cons of it.

The biggest ones are complains from competitors which end up with stupid lawsuits like EU vs. MS in the case of WMP.

It looks like a joke similar to Leopard's 300+ new features.

Is it working with VS 2008 Express editions?
I have both, C# and C++ environments here but compilation always stops on "VCBuild.exe cannot be found" message.

It is strange because:
1. I have such file in my VS directory structure,
2. report says that I should have .NET farmework 2.x installed even if I have it.
1055
I've wanted to write it by my own but I still have VCBuild.exe errors for C# SDK so...

Maybe someone could write a plugin for ObjectGraph dictionaries:

Is Pidgin still llimited in the case of external protocols (i.e. ICQ) like other Jabber clients or might it work without XMPP servers?

Will it be possible to have back icons smaller than front ones?
It could be great to have 3D feeling with such feature. Users could define front and back size and the rest of the icons would be scaled depending on location between.

Or maybe even more advance settings? Specifying location of middle "circle", virtual user location and the point of view - all in almost-3D space. I know that all elements are flat but my imagination tells my such ideas. Staring on CD like on plate with tasty snacks. From wherever you look at it you always get hungry ;)

TC should do the same if you enable using Explorer's copy/delete methods. Personally I found it annoying (and generating the mess).

Maybe consider saving webpages as MHT? It's more comfortable solution.
IE7 and Opera have built-in support for such files. For Firefox you will need separate extension (https://addons.mozil...ch?q=MHT&cat=all).

Such files are easier to manage and if you want their content, you can unpack them using free tools or TC's plugin.

PS. 1. "_files" suffix depends on your systems localisation (more info: http://msdn2.microso...69390.aspx#connected).

You're right but I live with Total Commander. It replaced so many things in my system that anyone would be surprised. The only thing left is normal Explorer behaviour.
AFAIK: DO replaces even that (i.e. for double click on My Computer).

PS. You can find a proof of being TC-addicted on my homepage ;)

I've downloaded it from mentioned site back in 2006. Now I have a dilema: it's hard to define how useful it is for me because I am using Explorer maybe once per month... Well, I think I will pay as soon as I get alive:)

I recommend Minimalist breadcrumbs:

I was using QT AdressBar for quite time 'till it started to crash my Explorer. Even IE went crazy and I had to remove that.
No problems with Minimalist tool althougt.

I use MSPaint for making windows screenshots. I know that there are many better tools for such purpose but I always catch myself blindly pressing PrtScr, Win+R and writing "mspaint" to get screenshots done.

Hopefully: last time I used Wordpad was few years ago. I've replaced this app by QJot.

You forgot to mention that SMPlayer (KMPlayer too) doesn't require codecs to be installed in the system. It has it's own set of it. You can just download binary codecs from: http://www.mplayerhq...u/design7/dload.html and it will work on any machine you like. Very good solution for keeping it on pendrive.

PS. I've never liked mplayer frontends and I prefere commandline version. Oh! And sometimes I use KMPlayer.

Partially I agree but I will still think that the target audience were the users who use Word as Notepad replacement. For them ribbon is salvation. I have seen enough diploma's thesises without paragraphs / automatic TOC, VBA etc. to know that many users needs the basics only. They don't even want to search for some functionality. If they cannot see it, it doesn't exist. Haven't you seen i.e. documents with overkilling Enter usage for placing the content on new page (instead of Insert -> Page break)? I did.

Whatever we say one thing is good in MS Office 2007 for sure: live preview.

I've always hated:
1. loading Properties dialog,
2. changing some values,
3. clicking OK,
4. looking for results,
5. pressing Ctrl+Z,
6. loading Properties dialog once again.

Now you can preview the results just by hovering some options. This is definitely better but it's just a drop in the sea.

I think they thought about it pretty well.

People from the most of the countries used to read from left to right. So it is better to them to have any kind of information displayed horizontally. Even if it might take little more vertical space it is always easier to follow after all.

Consider placing ribbon on the left side of the screen. How usable it will be? How many information you can put on it?

Just remember that whole idea is the waste of the space for advanced users but computers are used by amateurs these days. Newbies wants to have i.e. labels for toolbar icons because they can learn app quicker this way. Even if it will take 20% of the screen's height, it seems to be better and more comfortable than taking twice as much for width (what would be needed for the same amount of information).

It would be nice to have running application's thumbnails like in "Video in Picture for Vista".

And, of course, stack submenus similar to these:
