VueMinder Pro can wrap the text that you enter, so it might be closer to what you're looking for. It doesn't (yet) support printing 2 or 3 months on the same page, but that's on the list of planned improvements. It provides many other features as well, mostly driven by customer requests and suggestions.

Disclosure: I'm the author of VueMinder. I believe it's acceptable for me to post about my product, if it's in response to a question about a specific feature my product can provide.

Thanks for responding. It's certainly alright, and quite helpful. I know I've looked at VueMinder in the past. I shall look again.

Chris, does this particular calendar need extras, like the features you can get from most calendars? My point being, you have not mentioned any other wanted feature than what you can get in a diary.
Thanks for the response, Curt. In answer to your question, it might be a bonus if it did. Reminders perhaps, some kind of reciprocity with contacts and/or notes, possibly. Those are definitely subservient to the objective of simply entering and showing what I want.

I can do most of what I want by knocking out calendars in WordPerfect or InDesign. What I'd like most is a modern suite that is really close to the old Borland Sidekick.

@techidave If you want nothing other than an analogue of a month-per-page printed calendar, WordPerfect will do most of the job straight out of the box. I think I tried this in Word and found it too awkward.

Printing multiple months on one page isn't a deal breaker — it's convenient to do that right from the calendar but there's plenty of 'printer' software around that can handle that job.

Thanks for the suggestion, dragonmage. Rainlendar didn't quite match what I'm looking for.

I need help! Well, you knew that already...  :-[

Looking back down the ever darkening tunnel of time, to the days of Borland Sidekick, I recall calendar software of a very basic kind.

This would create a month view that allowed one simply to type into any day's 'cell' whatever was required. This text appeared — in full — on the cell for that day. Not just the first few words, not a clever little coloured bar, not a link to the 'day view' but exactly what it was that one had typed. If required, the font size would reduce to accommodate longer entries, subject to reasonable limits. What's more the software would allow for printing one-month, two months, or three months per page.

I have looked at a fair bit of calendar software, but don't see anything on the market that does this, to me, simple but essential thing. Surely I'm missing something, somewhere! I still have the Borland (latterly Starfish) software but it's a little absurd to impose that on a 64-bit W7 system.

So, I throw the question to the DC Hydra...

What software for Windows will do this specific thing?

the pic of my case from DC is showing up on net
Fame at last!

I presume it's listed as adult content. I'm not sure that children should be allowed to see it with its cover off.

@ iphigenie

Wow, that's an impressive summary!

Thanks for taking the time and trouble to do that, it's material like this that helps to make DC as valuable as it is.

I think this should be in a thread of its own or in the review section somewhere, and certainly linked to in the next newsletter.

With the right software you can create a word as a glyph within a font. If what you need to produce is very limited/repetetive you might look into that option.

I hope they still include the console version, not just the gui?
They do, there's also a 'light' version that I think is free — it might be all you need.
1061
Ok — but how do you really feel about them?  :)

I certainly don't mind if you try it, secure in the knowledge that it won't become permanent.
OTOH, if you are determined not to continue beyond a month, it's a little difficult to see the point of the exercise.

I've been thinking recently that we need to do more to encourage vendors to participate in promotions, and to find some way to demonstate the benefit to them of doing so. Do we have any data on past levels of satisfaction from participating vendors' points of view? (Perhaps I should have put this in a separate topic.)

It's active on my machine.
I can't launch the .exe from FARR but I can launch it from FARR by calling the start menu .lnk

I think there is a hotstring software from a member here, where you tick a box to enable regex support, but cant remember which exactly...
Auspex? See here.

after some discussion with hamradio, we noticed that the missing snipping tool is related to a windows component called "tablet pc component". it is worth a try to see if that is consistent with all the other PCs plagued with this problem.
Am I right to assume that the probem occurs with that component active?

Thanks for the effort, mouser!
Full of good stuff, as usual.

Also remember to turn the Opacity all the way up...
There is a transparency setting for frames, push that to max.
-mouser

Duh  :-[

Thanks to both of you!
kunkel321, I used your files. When I went back to check, my own files were okay with the opacity at max.
mouser, no more access violations, I guess that problem sprang from some other, transient thing.

Quick and dirty proof attached...

FARR v2.104.02 does find the Snipping Tool.lnk from my start menu and launch the tool. This testing was done under Windows 7 Pro 64-bit also. What fun, a moving target!

Poking at it some more, I discovered that I cannot apply any mask without causing an access violation.
Anyone else have that problem?

The key is to save HandsFrame.png as a regular png for the fram, but then save the mask portion as HandsFrame.jpg, then change it's file type (not just rename it) into HandsFrame.png.mask...
I played with that earlier but had to drop it for a while.
If I do as you say, I get an access violation. On dismissing the notification of that, the frame is applied but it is partially transparent; some of what is beneath the fingers is visible.

MS office 2007 links are fine.
Tried an assortment of other, commonly-used programs — all fine.
Random selection of other stuff — all fine.
