This is something that's rather sad - that so many people never learn to speak their own language properly.-Renegade (November 20, 2010, 09:58 PM)
Target - the price around here at the moment is $129 CDN. The $89 deal was a few weeks back and I keep wondering if I shouldn't have jumped at it. FWIW the $129 offer is available here.-Darwin (November 19, 2010, 01:24 AM)

You don't have a DSE near you?
Give you a chance to play with the lower end of the scale
My friend just buys the cheap $20 2/4GB generic players, when they break he buys another - as Renegade said, they're a throwaway item these days.
By the way, the little tiny square nano's that are new, look so good. mmm.-superboyac (November 17, 2010, 08:11 PM)

I had a Creative MP3 player a couple of years ago: much cheaper than iPod; I could put just about any music on it that I wished, purchased & downloaded, my own ripped CDs, etc. Only problem was that the battery started lasting less and less hours each time I used it until it was impossible to keep it charged. However iPods were also having battery issues then and theirs weren't replaceable at all. Anyway I dont use one now.-J-Mac (November 17, 2010, 12:08 AM)
I'd seriously hold out until the Archos 43 Internet Tablet becomes more widely available, if only to give one a whirl and compare it to the iPod. I had an iPod for about 24 hours but couldn't stand the iTunes lock-in and returned it (thought the hardware was nice, though. Didn't keep it long enough to form much of an opinion about the GUI/Software). Now that I think about it, isn't the ZuneHD available where you are? Or the X series of Sony Walkmans?-Darwin (November 16, 2010, 11:42 PM)
) Apple: Apple the No. 1 Danger To Net Freedom
Posted by CmdrTaco on Monday November 15, @12:39PM
from the but-we-like-the-shiny dept CWmike writes
"Columbia law professor Tim Wu, who coined the term 'net neutrality,' now says that Apple is the company that most endangers the freedom of the Internet. Wu recently published the book The Master Switch: The Rise and Fall of Information Empires, in which he details what he calls 'information empires' such as AT&T, NBC, Facebook, and Google. He told The New York Times, 'It's largely a story of the American affection for information monopolists and the consequences of that fondness.' When asked whether the Internet could similarly be controlled by large companies, he told the Times: 'I know the Internet was designed to resist integration, designed to resist centralized control, and that design defeated firms like AOL and Time Warner. But firms today, like Apple, make it unclear if the Internet is something lasting or just another cycle.' Asked which companies he feared most, Wu replied: 'Right now, I'd have to say Apple.'"

Technology: Agloves Allow For Touchscreen Use On Cold Days

from the touch-the-screen dept, Zothecula writes
"With capacitive the technology of choice on the majority of touchscreen devices hitting the market, people have been coming up with all kinds of interesting ways to interact with their devices when the winter chill sets in and gloves become a necessity. Many South Koreans apparently turned to using sausages as a stylus but if you'd prefer not to be hassled by dogs as you type a text there are less meat product-based solutions, such as the North Face Etip gloves. Now there's another glove-based solution in the form of Agloves, which provide even greater touchscreen friendly surface area for your hands."

I recently bought Duke Nukem 3D from GOG, (then they had for 50% off - typical), it brought back a lot of good memories. The two dimensional graphics are still a good laugh-4wd (October 07, 2010, 01:26 AM)
