Living Room / Re: Why Does Microsoft Make File Type Names So Long?
« Last post by fenixproductions on October 10, 2008, 09:13 PM »
While that program will add the Extension column to Explorer itself, will that also propagate to other applications? I'd hate to download, install and try it just to find out I'm still screwed in Excel et al!
It should :)
Yes indeed.

I don't think there's a way make explorer show file extension rather than file type - if you right-click the column header you can select which columns to show, but there's only "type". Somebody might have made an explorer extension to handle this, though.
Little hint:

I tried to buy the book but the website stops responding on the order confirmation page... :-\
It is called on-line mousering.

I think I already know what's this book about :)

Spoiler
It is completely blank. Isn't it?

So did Typing Assistant cause the flickering? Have you been able to record successfully now? If so I'd love to hear about how well it performed for you.
-GeneralAdmission (October 09, 2008, 05:52 PM)
It's working flawless for almost every game I have but not for Urban Terror. Unfortunately: this game is something I want to record the most. I read about workarounds without success. It is blinking and the movie looks like having 10fps (it's ~70 during the game).

I am really ashamed because I was in rush writing it. I am waiting for mouser to delete my post somehow.

It appeared that it was not the source of the problem. I am sorry once again.

PS The source was Typing Assistant. I forgot to add my games to exceptions.

I had tried descibed solution and found a problem with every game I have installed:
screen is blinking from time to time!

Of course: I've uninstalled every application from article and reinstalled my PC.

Now I am sad because I did not create restore point...

Believe in eternal life and an eternity of singing happy-clappy songs in the clouds - but belief does not make something true.

Not according to Pratchett ;)

Following DW's books: what happens after death depends on your faith. If you believe in Eden - OK. If you want 72 virgins - OK. Even new live can be granted. Everything is up to you and what do you hope for. You can also gloat over tasty waffles for eternity :)

I've found this idea to be the best one.

The book seems kinda of old and information gained in the last 10 years alone has advanced the understanding.

Yes it is old.
I apologise because I thought that you've just started getting knowledge in this area (so I recommended ABC).

AFAIK it is unknown will this force overtake gravity. Scientists think about three possible scenarios depending of this variables' values. Universe will get colder and colder until any kind of live will extinct or someday it will start to shrink and will end with another Big Bang. Or extending will just stops and everything will be balanced.

The answer for this question is not clear because there are too many gaps in science. The biggest unknown is the dark matter (IIRC) and it's properties. I advise you to read A Brief History of Time. Maybe that book will answer some of your questions.

OK, guys. I've decided to grant you answers so no one needs to die for ;)

1. How does our universe work?
Very good, thank you.

2. Who made God and why did they make such a terrible job of it?
People and they had very tight deadline.

3. Is 42 really the meaning of life?
No. 69.

4. Where do I sign up for the next life?
Nowhere. You've got only one. Use it well.

5. Was it good?
Yes.

6. Why we can't change our past or time?
World's balance.

7. How do I return if I don't like it? / Why was I not a better person when I had the chance?
You can't. / No one is perfect, neither You.

8. What will happen to them?
Your heritage will live and it's heritage and so on...

9. WHY?
Because  :P

10. What caused the 'singularity' event that preceded the Big Bang.
Syntax error in "Preceded": there is no before in timeline.

11. can AI eventually demonstrate sentience/consciousness. / can humans (as a species) move beyond superstitions
Yes, but you will not see that.

12. How does the brain work?
Pick a person and I will tell you.

Because that way you could never learn?

You could change not only your time but the time of every person you had some influence. It would not be so great. On the other side: IF anyone can change time then only math and physics would be constans. Neverending story about correcting everything. In such case: would you play ANY game? Would you ever consider any "risk"?

DMT Too many "what-ifs". I can't follow english grammar this way ;)

Where do I sign up for the next life?
Are you sure you want it? Maybe be little more precise. I cannot get the thought out that it would erase your memory ;)

This is truly hard question. Honestly: I do not believe in universal meaning of the life, rather that it depends of what you want it to be. I was thinking once about "what after death" but obviously: you will know that after few seconds. Whole deduction leaves two questions. If I had little more time before death, I would ask myself first: "was my life good" and then real question: "Who are you to give me an answer". But not knowing how it will come I have to choose:

Was it good?

If I knew that no one here knows about this, I could give a hint 2 years quicker ;)

It seemed to be interesting but... I can't get over 12th episode. I've tried different browsers and none of them can load anything above (and w/) 13th ep.

It is absolute record for my patience: watching 40 commercials for 20 minutes of movies. I just feel like dumbass caught by big name ;(

The last thing: I've also expected better comic. What I saw reminds me about one of the Jasc PaintShopPro filters (Pencil or Artistic?).

1. My story...

Very nice horror FPS/TPS game is now available for free. The only payment is watching advertisements inside.

You can download it i.e. here:
http://www.freewaref...g_program_44708.html

I have to say that I am playing that two days and it is really good... Ads are not so bad: just one movie during gameplay. In the most of the cases game is interrupted (can skip by clicking) during new level/chapter load screen but it doesn't take you to Windows. Sometimes you can see it after changing from beast to human.

Oh! The last ad is in the form of window after closing the game. Only this one is annoying because clicking on that loads your default web browser.

After all: even with those cons the game is very nice and worth to try after dark :)

2. System requirements
