Hmm... I just took advantage of the giveaway through VUNet posted above, to see if it works still and it does. I was also able to update the Ashampoo version using the Help - Update feature which took me to the SoftMaker website. I downloaded and updated without any trouble.

Mike - do you need to install it fully before getting the key?
When you say update - do you mean updates for the 2006 version (which is the download)
I wonder can you update to 2008 version, probably wouldnt bother myself anyways (cause I have it already and only wanted to put this on an old laptop...)

the Softmaker/Ashampoo - if it's free that's a great deal (I favour it anyway of the lot)

I've found StarOffice/OpenOffice handle office documents better, though and more faithfully follow Office conventions.
do you mean better than Textmaker?

funny I've found the opposite - I mean Open Office (2) files' formatting getting screwed up when opened in Word... but cant remember what exactly the problem was anymore (lets see: colour highlighting being lost, stuff going from one page to two, loosing correct indentation - but cant remember the exact details)...havent had any problems with Textmaker but then I dont need to use it a lot so you could say I dont actually test it that much :)

well for someone like me = like things that work without too much messing round
AdblockPlus (one it's installed) simply & effectively works well
all I know is when I use Opera that I see lots more adds..

But for me, that isnt why I stay with FF - it's that it wont work with Surfulater/Evernote & far as I know cut & paste still has no formatting and no images copy - just tried again, nope...

Me, I'd even sacrifice roboform for Opera, but not Surfulater especially seeing as no equivalent options..

what happens if text file has more than one page?

have you tried fineprint - you would have to open each file though (I think) and print to fineprint

there is another might be better:
PrintFile
When printing text files PrintFile makes a configurable page layout of the text contents. Several logical pages can be placed on one page of physical paper (referred to as n-up printing). There are also several other configurable options controlling the layout. Text files can be printed on any printer that has a Windows printer driver. Text copied to the clipboard can also be printed in the same manner as text files. PrintFile can also do user configurable Pretty Printing of text files. Keywords and comments can be highlighted using different font styles and colors. This function is primarily intended for source code files.
havent tried it myself though :)

Come to Opera, f0dder. The thing is stable as a rock, fast as hell, and no memory bloat. You know you want it ;D

me want too!
.....
but there's too many things in the way
adblock/flashblock have me spoilt, I know Opera has some adblocking but I just gave up trying to figure it out... and it doesnt just "work", well not in comparision with Adblock(Plus)

Copy only copies plain text - no formatting; doesnt work with Surfulater/Evernote

I used prefer tab implementation in Opera but now prefer tabmixplus options -
Opera brought in a while back where you can click on a tab, click again on same tab & it will go back to last viewed tab
This has only ever worked (if at all) only for very short periods of time for me - doesnt work at all in latest version (maybe they got rid of it :-\) works in tab mix plus
-
You cant get it to just go to next tab (left or right) when closing current tab (?)

So boils down to I is a frustrated Opera lover :-* :(

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: New C# FARR Plugin: FARRGoogleSuggest
« Last post by tomos on December 30, 2007, 06:14 AM »
I have recompiled the plugin with the latest SDK and VS 2005. Please see if it makes a difference.
I have updated the first post in this thread with the new plugin.

I'm afraid still no work here
I have it in correct folder and cant see anything else I can do...

unfortunately neither this nor FARRAltTab works for me with NET 1,2, & 3
(just added both to correct folders in plugins folder and restarted FARR after each)

other plugins work
these two dont show when I type "aplugins" - I'm not that familiar with FARR plugins in general but dont think I'm doing anything wrong..

KlipKeeper, FarrFox, PrinterList, and FarrUninstall are the only plugins I've used so far, but they all work

General Software Discussion / Re: Replace Windows Explorer [SOLUTION]
« Last post by tomos on December 29, 2007, 02:05 PM »
Tom - you probably don't have "launch folders in a separate process" enabled as it's not a default setting. I recommend that you DO enable it! Go to Windows Explorer and select the tools drop down menu then Folder Options. Select the view tab and you'll find it there.
thanks Mike
turns out I did have it enabled - via nlite I think [or maybe Autopatcher] cause I aint done it post-windows-install
so I'll leave it that way, thanks f0dder too

 ;D ;D ;D

if you have "launch folders in a separate process" enabled (as you should), you have a separate explorer.exe for, well, folders.

might disable that - I never use explorer anyways...

[edit] just killed the lesser explorer (the one without the + sign) -

General Software Discussion / Re: Print Calender on Desktop Wallpaper?
« Last post by tomos on December 29, 2007, 08:52 AM »
rainlender indeed looks cool but it has to be always running to display calender, so this isn't what im looking..i need one that just print a small calender on the top right area of wallpaper, then quit..  :)

do you mean you want something to physically superimpose a calender on your current wallpaper image,
i.e. to make a new image with calender in it?

with Burning Rom you have much more control :)
I had Nero 5.5 (full) but it came with CD Burner/computer & wouldnt work with new drive when old one gave up

New drive came with Express 6 - it works well and all that but
what I personally miss is control over multisession burning which is minimal in Express & in free burning programmes too
But yeah,
Burning Rom had huge number of options,
with Express you choose what you want to do & that's it... :-\
