I have used Fusion 11....it struck me as a $100 software package that should be on sale for 50% off at $50.

Is that an expansion of Sacred 2: Fallen Angel?

Yes...one new character class (Dragon Mage), two new areas to explore, and tons of new items for all classes. The only reason I still play is some of the quests are so unique (the Star Wars references in one, the Christmas & Easter quests, etc.).

And as for the character 'chatter', there's an option in preferences to minimize/eliminate it.

General Software Discussion / Re: What's your preferred File Manager
« Last post by Innuendo on May 05, 2010, 09:22 PM »
The only reservation I have in recommending XYplorer now is the attitude of the developer. He's very resistant to criticism, even when it's intended to be constructive, because he has his own vision of what his program should be, and won't be swayed from it. I've seen exchanges on his forum become what I would consider abusive of his users when they criticize the program. But if your vision is sufficiently close to his, you can get a long way with it.
-CWuestefeld (May 04, 2010, 12:34 PM)

That's my impression as well. Any software author that won't listen to the suggestions of his users is not going to be writing any software I'll be using. Yes, it's his right to do what he wants to with his program just as it is my right to not buy it, use it, or recommend it.

I am so sorry, Carol. I lost my cat a few months ago and I'm still not over it or can talk about it so I know how you feel.

Wish I could say it gets easier in time, but it hasn't for me.

I think in your situation I'd just go find a Belkin Nostromo n50. They've been discontinued in favor of newer models, but still packs a lot of functionality in the small space it takes up & the software has 3 'shift states' (holding down a modifier key gives an alternate config to every other key on the gamepad) so you can have triple the functionality per key.

They can be picked up for a song these days, but getting a little harder to find.

I've just decided not to worry about finishing games- if I do, then it's an accomplishment.  Makes me feel a bit better about my stack. :)

I can totally understand that philosophy, but I have a feeling I need to finish Dragon Age:Origins as the ending is probably going to be epic...same way with Fallout 3. Sacred 2: Blood & Ice, however, my motivation to finish is really starting to wane.

I know that some file managers are supposed to be able to do that but quite often they really show the "last modified date".

Some, like Total Commander, for instance allows you to configure it to show either Last Modified Date, Last Access Date...and even both simultaneously in addition to lots of other values.

Not to mention you could display this information for all your files not only your exe files (although it can set a filter to only display exes as well).

well duh to update my current Windows Explorer information and data,,,when i h' opened two windows say C: and D: but the good thing about xplorer2 is that it get updated automatically.
(Just tried it now) :tellme:

I was just getting ready to say that any file manager worth its salt auto-refreshed its file lists.

I'm not a Linux guy (no zealotry here...Linux just doesn't suit my workflow),but I rather like the looks of that screenshot, Zaine. Nice layout....the sooner Linux quits mimicking Windows UI conventions the sooner we can all get back to each major OS (Linux, Windows and Mac) doing their own thing and the others taking the best of their competitors to make UIs better for everyone.

We could compare stacks, and I'm pretty sure you would be a paragon compared to me :)

No, I made a promise to myself....got about 20 games over here & I have to work my way through some of them....then there's all the games I have my eye on I don't even have yet like Divine Divinity's sequel that I can't remember the name of at the moment.

Dragon Age: Origins is proving to be quite enjoyable. It plays out quite like a big budget Hollywood movie that you are a part of...

Oh, I know about it...which is why I'm so sad....gotta finish F3 before I can even think about going to Vegas.

General Software Discussion / Re: HowTo repair/replace tcpip.sys ?
« Last post by Innuendo on May 03, 2010, 07:18 AM »
Search "tcpip.sys", and think differently; it was still a well known problem on XP.

I'll take your word for it, but this is the first I'm hearing about it & I've serviced a crap-load of XP systems over the years & never once has one had this problem you are describing.

I'd love to be able to catalog all these systems with this problem & see what the common elements between them were.

I honestly thought the tcpip.sys problem had gone the way of the dodo bird.

This would be very tempting (to team up and play an MMO with some DC members), but I just got drawn into Dragon Age: Origins (I know! I know! I'm behind on my game playing!). Otherwise, I'd be seriously be considering buying in.

First thing you need to do is get your OS backed up. Use the manufacturer's utility to make a Restore Disc. Whether you venture into the world of Linux or not one day you will most likely need that disc (hard drive goes bad, OS blows up, etc) and if you don't have that Restore Disc you may find yourself paying dearly (in both money & time) for something a few minutes now would have avoided.

Second, two words: Virtual Machine! You may hate Linux. Some people love it, but some people hate it as well. If you set it up in a virtual machine first if you don't like it you can just delete a few directories & go about your business. If you do love it then you can think about blowing away hard drive and installing Linux full-time.

Third, another word: multi-boot! Don't forget the ability to multi-boot. You could shrink your Windows 7 partition, install Linux on another partition & switch between OSes at will having all the advantages of both at your disposal just a reboot away.

« Last post by Innuendo on May 02, 2010, 10:30 AM »
I am sick and tired of all the blue screens I have been getting for that last quarter of a year due to my version of tcpip.sys. So naturally I want to repair or replace the thing. The first problem is that I don't have an installation-CD, so I will be needing a copy of "your" file, please! 32-bits Vista.  :)

Wow. I haven't heard of anyone having to replace tcpip.sys since Windows 95. Usually if you are someone who gets errors like that it can be traced back to bad network card drivers that happen to bomb out and take out tcpip.sys with them & that's what the blue screen shows.

What kind of network card are you running over there, Curt? Some network chipsets have gawd-awful drivers.

In any case, to change a system file like that you would have to do it from Safe Mode & replace both the version in the Windows directory & in the cache before rebooting back into normal mode. But again....no one has had to do this since Windows 95 and the early days of Windows 98 First Edition.

You are going to receive a refund for the stuff you paid for, in the form of an iTunes gift certificate.

Sounds roughly equivalent to someone taking my new PC away & refunding my money in the form of a gift certificate good for purchasing cow manure.

Did I skim the posts too quickly or has nobody yet admitted to collecting pron? :P

Zaine & Stoic Joker did, though Zaine referred to it as erotica and Stoic Joker referred to it as "art".

Glad you could stop by, though, and make it 'accessible' by the common man, though. :D

Most file managers provide the functionality you are looking for.

I'll take this opportunity to plug my fave, Total Commander.

As soon as I posted the OP about Apple acquiring LaLa I knew this was going to happen.

If Microsoft had done this the outrage on the internet would be strong, but people seem to let Steve Jobs & Company get away with murder...

General Software Discussion / Re: SubmitToTab - a Firefox add-on
« Last post by Innuendo on April 29, 2010, 10:03 PM »
Heh, heh - jumped ship to Fx not long after I posted that. I recently returned to a vanilla install of IE8, though, because I got fed up of Fx's habit of crashing explorer.exe repeatedly in Windows 7 64 bit.

Must have been a bad add-on, Darwin. I've never had Firefox crash explorer.exe (he says while running Firefox 3.6.4 beta with 45 extensions on Windows 7 64-bit).

Honestly when are these antivirus companies people who install McAfee products going to learn that this behavior is unacceptable?

There you go, Mouser. Fixed that for you.  :D

Was just coming back in here to post that...it's definitely tempting @ $15 for a lifetime license.
