@mouser car rental is much like house/apartment, one does it for the feeling of ownership otherwise it is always more expensive to own.

As far as my car goes, regular Corolla, very boring just like me  :D

What happened to "Pirate Bay on a USB stick" they brought out awhile ago?

I am NOT a comedian
Someone lost the USB stick?

Of course 4wd is right. Closer to router, less walls in between, wireless chipset (latest firmware or otherwise) .... whole spectrum of things affect wireless speeds.

1005
I think you will end up with 'advertised speeds are theoretical' no matter what you try.

My input on the Opera debate: https://www.donation....msg317912#msg317912

I read your post. It's not dev's fault when even a simple <div> leaves spaces and other things unlike every other browser, etc. Google various standards like div and others and add 'opera' right after it to your search query

Sites like Amazon didn't render or work properly and with pretty much zero interest to correct it. I hate to take the bigger business side of things but with their market share and real standard elements not working/rendering like the rest of (98% or so) the web, this was coming.

Header file (not index) injected with a redirect code is one likely source.

Often in an up to date, 'secure' install that is on a shared server, another user getting compromised is enough.

Trying out SRWare Iron, and it's no faster than Chromium.  Then I read this:
http://neugierig.org...es/2009/12/iron.html

Meh.  Chromium works fine enough.

Obvious good points there but he is basing some of it

"if you don't trust Google to not do something sneaky, you probably shouldn't be running software made by Google,"

calling a fork "running" is a stretch

click2play or flashblock add-ons help more than just against attacks, also do it to bring resource usage back to sane levels.
One thing about flash I never understood is that update notifications only show up after reboots (at least that's the behaviour that I see) and I don't reboot often ...

Living Room / Michel In Guides!
« Last post by rgdot on February 07, 2013, 11:24 PM »
A bit of  ;D and

A 28-year-old salesman named Adam Mascall from Luton received a very angry letter through the post from the people at Michelin Guides (i.e, the French restaurant bible universally revered in food circles) after he snapped up the "www.michelinguides.com" domain name for just £6 recently.

Michelin, who mistakenly allowed the domain to expire, then threatened to sue Mascall in a sternly-worded letter as he was infringing on their trademark.

Mascall, however, then wrote back to Michelin and told them that his website was actually "Michel in Guides.com" and began filling the holding page with hilariously photoshopped images of UEFA president Michel Platini in Girl Guides uniforms!

Its less than 1mb (980kb)  - Loads fine on a shared mobile broadband connection (currently running at less than 2mbps)

At the risk of making this a basement thread.
Would you rather pay for weapons or this? Not that it will really ever happen but still. Leaving it to corporations is of course an option but you will be paying for it in that case too because there is no chance in hell that would be free for ever, via Google or whoever

The installer for Desktop iCalendar Lite is NASTY.

Thanks for the warning. As recently as last October this wasn't the case.
1022
If you code it I would love it, always on the look out for such things of course

Agreed that the only knock against VueMinder is resource usage, not really blaming Dan just that it is that way. On both an old machine and newer one.

Another few suggestions that may or may not meet requirements but worth a look

Boot time is overrated, I am always concerned with program opening times. The difference between my ancient XP and newer 7 (with more RAM etc.) is/was mixed. There are still programs that take their time opening up, others which are definitely better.
