Good idea, might just do that. I feel stupid now, I was right next to the font size menu... :P

Headset and microphone are one in the same, just different chassis. I wear a headset so thats what came to mind first.

But yea, Xfire chat will work, it is just the whole bandwidth issue...

DC Gamer Club / Voice chat: good or bad?
« Last post by wreckedcarzz on February 29, 2008, 07:37 PM »
Figured this would come up sooner or later, so I might as well be the one to start it up.

Personally, I think it would be a good idea to setup a voice chat system to use during gameplay (and possibly non-gaming, like just general discussion?). But there is the whole thing of having to own a headset first of all, then making sure it works, then setting up the server to do chats on, and fixing bugs...

I would be all for voice chat, but I can't do much- except maybe find a good program (teamspeak and ventrillo are kinda...confusing (IMO)).

Any thoughts?

There. Arial. And it *almost* fits on one screen when viewed in 1280x1024 :)

Visit the updated site here: http://mazecraze.dcisv.com/

EDIT: Added link
1005
An hour and a half later, once again, the update will be up in 10 minutes. I promise this time. :) (really, I do :P)
1006
Arial it is then!

I will ask my Macintosh friend on AIM what the default font is for Safari- I never paid attention on mine at school.

Veign, I would do that, but I would most likely end up with a headache from confusion, as I haven't done anything web-related in about 2 years (and that was basic stuff, baby HTML- editing and ad-removal for the most part). And I am using KompoZer, not Frontpage 2003.

Website should be updated in about 10 minutes, provided I can remember to do it between now and then. :-[

Doesn't seem AveDesk works on Vista? It wouldn't open any desklets for me...they were in the list, but only the translator (and tutorial) opened (and wouldn't open after I closed it).

Oh well, Sidebar will do for now. :(

I love the 128x128 icon size- my desktop icons are all set to that ("Large icons"). The 256x256, however, are insane. But cool. But insane.

[offtopic] I had that CPU emergency alert siren too, when my heatsink/fan wasn't touching the CPU- my PC checked at boot, and would shutdown immediately thereafter, though [/offtopic]

I was aiming to get rid of the dull, usual fonts that are "web-safe", and the only way to do that is to use an image. The only other option would be to restore the normal text, but make it Arial. :-\

EDIT: And I don't mess with the HTML, just WYSIWYG

128x128 is the default size if you have a high-res monitor, otherwise you get like 100x100 (something in that range, maybe 96x96?)
1012
How is this?

http://mazecraze.dcisv.com/

New font, edited the text a bit, added a KompoZer button, and got the margin working on both sides :D

Anything else I should add/change/do? :tellme:
1013
Yes, it was Times New Roman (I told it to change to Arial but didn't Select All first, so it didn't do anything...). My mistake.

I was Googling (if that is a word) info about web-friendly fonts, and it is surprisingly...sucky (quite frankly). So, I will just make another image in Photoshop (text only), and set it up to look like normal text- with the exception of an interesting font, that is. That way, no one has to have the font, and it still looks good.

(Will post again when new page is uploaded)

The text is Arial I believe (I had to pick a generic font for the main text)

More casual font? Comic Sans is always my favorite, but there are a few others built into Windows...

A margin- don't know how I can do that, but I am sure I can

Thanks! - I will work on it some more after school today :)

Alright, I have everything going well with the exception of autohotkey not clicking a button? (question mark because I am not sure if that is the issue or not yet) - so I will not yet upload the new version. As soon as I fix that I will post and you can happily update :)
1016
Alright, now we're talking!

Everyone should check out the just renovated Maze Craze website (no game changes...yet) - I did all 3 graphics myself in Photoshop CS3 (took about 20 minutes total). I think it came out quite nicely. There are no other pages (I have them in an archive just in case, but I will delete them if there is no longer a need for them) except the main one. I did this for 3 reasons:
1) Better looking website
2) Faster loading website
3) More web FTP space for SnapSuite things (I just noticed I was at something like 65% a week or so ago, and started cleaning things up a bit).

Please let me know what you think of the site, if I should change the font, etc. :feedback:

Alright, as my brain explodes from packing myself full of things I need to do and change and edit and add and delete and everything...

CCleaner will now autoinstall the same as the old way. All other programs are bundled with SnapSuite. JkDefrag has been updated. I did slight GUI work. I deleted some 15MB of stuff off the FTP server. I am going to fix the website and upload the new version ASAP, assuming I don't go insane from stressing myself out first. :tellme:
1018
Alright, I am still kind of stalling out on updating SnapSuite, but I will probably do so either tonight or tomorrow (as a stable release, not beta). I have late start in school tomorrow and Wednesday (AIMS standardized testing) so expect an update then. I have to reconfigure and/or temporarily disable CCleaner until I get that sorted out, though.

In the meantime, I am getting CS3 back on my desktop machine, and am going to do what I can do make the MazeCraze website as basic as possible (to allow space for SnapSuite). I will be scaling down images, making new buttons, and all that good stuff. Don't be surprised to see a major change when it is done :)

As far as SnapSuite goes, though...
Please, PLEASE if you run into any errors or problems or things that don't work (mainly the AHK sub-programs cause issues) PLEASE post the problem here. I am trying to do my best to make this the best VB project I can make it. ANY feedback is great :)

Yes, it was interesting (and kinda ... angered me (I had some words)) when I found I misspelled it, but oh well. And yes, it is down for another... 2 hours. Making the servers more stable! :D

If that works for traditional desktop PCs, I want some, and I want some BAD. Plus, just imagine what we will be asking for when we buy new PCs:

"Yes, I want just 500TB of RAM- I need to keep costs low" ;D

DC Gamer Club / "DonatonCoder" crew now in Drift City
« Last post by wreckedcarzz on February 25, 2008, 07:03 PM »
Hey fellow gamers,

I have started a "crew" in the racing game I play, known as Drift City: the "DonatonCoder" crew (note spelling error, see below for reason). This is a set of players that join together to earn points, reputation, work together and also dominate the channels (servers) in racing ability.

Pros:
  • This allows anyone interested in the game to group with other DC'ers at any time in play.
  • Easy way for anyone interested to quickly join others starting out, and get help from me (and anyone else).
  • Lets everyone meet everyone else, so we know people right from the start.
  • Allows us to gain a reputation on the various servers.
  • etc....

Cons:
  • I had to remove the I in Donationcoder to fit the crew name into the requirements (and I didn't notice till after I made it, and spent $10k on it...). But it is a minor misspelling (and I couldn't avoid it anyways).
  • You have to be an active member, and remember to log on regularly (trouble for some of you :P)
  • You can't act foolishly (it is fun... :)) because everyone can see the Crew tag (within visual range) and we don't want a bad reputation

If you play the game, and want to join the crew, I am online most of the time so just IM me on Xfire, or any of my other 12 instant messaging options... ;D http://incredisims.com/contactus.aspx and I will meet you and get you setup :)

If you want to try the game, it is about 750MB (plus the occasional update), but will run on most PCs today. You can get started here: http://drift.ijji.com/

jgpaiva, I have to ask - how does Xfire not have any advantages over Steam?

Xfire now has support for in-game Video recording (BETA, but still, no more needing Fraps :)), along with the usual screenshot uploading and built in voice chat options. And I don't see the problem with it using 10,312kb of RAM (I just checked) and 0% CPU. :tellme:

I never tried Steam, but I have multiple friends that use it as their primary gaming "headquarters" (if you will) and they refuse to switch to (or try) Xfire for some odd reason. I don't see why- the constant updates add more stuff all the time, and it is good as long as you aren't on dialup (my friend Walt no longer uses Xfire because of the 3+MB updates every month or so annoyed him, but 28.8k isn't exactly mainstream anymore). ;D

And thanks for posting the various profiles Deozann, helps to get a network going

Living Room / Keeping a program window on top NO MATTER WHAT - possible?
« Last post by wreckedcarzz on February 23, 2008, 06:43 PM »
I have been looking for almost a year or so now for a simple, extremely barebones app that does nothing but keep a user-selected window on top of everything (and also keeps the focus on the current app until I deliberately click outside/hit a key combo/etc). I get very angry when I am playing a game (or doing the usual activity known as work) and something comes up and says something (or asks a question) and I hit a keyboard key/mouse stroke on one of the options, and something goes wrong/happens/opens/etc.

Skrommel's WinWarden could probably do this, but like I said I want something that just is basically open > pick window > tell to keep on top > done

Anyone have any ideas?
