mouser, that's where the "paranoid" comes in ;) (yeah, I personally find that interesting myself, but regular users don't really need it).

Yeah... we're not all elite users like you!   :P

Hey thanks for that info. I wasn't picking on myspace, although it IS a place I will never go to. I had just heard that that place was especially bad when it came to malware and viruses.

Drop. As you weighed the options, it would appear that is the best to do.

What [programming language] do you suggest?

Whatever floats your boat. :) I like Flash's ActionScript, but that might be a little difficult for a beginner. Of course, I can't really think of anything (considered a 'real' programming language) easier to start with. Flash has graphics, animation, manipulation, basically everything you need for 2D development. Problem is Flash costs $$$ if you don't have it already. There are alternatives, as was mentioned earlier in the post about Game Engines and Apps. I think there are even free Flash authoring tools where you can write all your code and it will export as a .swf file. But then you lose out on the graphics part of it. I'm not sure. I've never not used Flash to make Flash stuff.

Well lucky for me I do have Flash.  :D

I guess I had better hit the Programming School here at DC.

What programming language are you going for?

What do you suggest?

all this minutia talk is a good example of why, unless you love wallowing in this stuff and spending days and days of time obsessing, you should go to a site like dell and just use one of their configuration things to configure a reasonable pc and be done with it, imho.

I agree with mouser, www.dell.com has some excellent PC customising features, and you can clearly see all at once the overall cost.

Ahh I had forgotten about that. Yes I really want one of those. I also like the shirt that says "There are 10 types of people in this world; those who understand binary and those who don't.

how about making donationcoder one of these userbars.
I might feel inclined to advertise (uk sp!) in other forums that suffer my shining witt!

I think this is a good idea. I would definately use one in my sig.

But with that in mind, maybe you can ruin the warnings that always seem to popup after the english in french... I mean why french? I'll bet if you can get enough practice you can actually rewind it to the point just after the FBI warnings and being at the actual feature... I am going to try this!!!

A agree, it's a place I would never visit. I was just curious if there was any proof that I could show to persuede some people to stay away from it. I have been troubleshooting their computer problems for 2+ years, and it all leads back to my lack of knowledge of myspace, which is used in their home.
