This site looks good. You can sell up to 25MB of digital downloads without charge. There are no commissions per sale.

Living Room / Re: Does anyone here use Bitcoins?

How could one make a site like donationcoder enabling donations with bitcoins ?
For example a download site for homebrew game developers which allowed payments / donations whenever someone downloads digital productions

The simplest way would be to just show an address, either in plain text or as a QR code. People scan the code in their wallet application, send, done: bitcoins are delivered.
Blockchain.info offer a simple donation button maker, ready to be cut & pasted on a web page, that generate a different address every time (to complicate things a bit to whom want to try to see how much bitcoins the receiver have accumulated) and display a QR code.

Or, a payment processor like BitPay can be used, to let users pay in bitcoins and receive the corresponding amount in the legal tender of choice, with a minimal fee (1% per transaction or fixed 30$ monthly, if I remember correctly).

Thanks for the information!
coinbase.com seems to me pretty easy to use, i'm not sure about exchanging bitcoins into dollars or euros

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Folder name to html database
« Last post by kilele on December 13, 2013, 01:07 PM »
After a bit of research, I think this could be accomplished using a combination of these programs :

1. Tag your documents with TaggedFrog
Export the database to CSV

2. Convert the CSV file into a sortable HTML table by means of one of these tools
TableStacker
CSV to SortTable WordPress plugin

This is another nice program that creates a sortable HTML table with search function into a single file
Snap2HTML

Post New Requests Here / IDEA: Folder name to html database
« Last post by kilele on December 04, 2013, 10:29 PM »
Hi!
This is my request for a document catalog creator. Say you have a folder in your pc with folders whose names contain any words separated by delimiters, for example : 2013--BarmyGames--Barmy-Pacman--Commodore64
there could be any tag between the -- delimiter, the idea is that a script parses the folders' names and creates a webpage with a combobox whose items are the name terms found between delimiters, it would be a kind of simple database with restricted search entries given by the combobox, if one selected 2013 in the combobox then only the folders with that tag in their name would be displayed, the same with the other tags. You could select a few tags in diferent comboboxes (2 or 3 would suffice) for a multicriteria search. The page would show links to these folders, and if the user clicked one of these links, the list of links to the files within that directory would be displayed. I had in mind to maintain a catalog for games this way, running such a script regularly and then synchronize this html catalog to dropbox.

General Software Discussion / Re: Shift to Linux

@40hz

I was kidding but I feel a bit that way knowing the entire possibilities that can be done in Windows. Actually I plan to make an installation of SolusOS on some old pcs.

You mentioned a few companies that have a business model based on technical support for their distributions, this is something that could work for small stores providing service for Mint equipped machines. I was referring more to freelance and software developers, aside from the small market it seems that many developers are not appealed by inconsistencies on packages among different distributions regarding software and hardware stability.

I was not able to find the proper way to hit a letter or two and make the selection jump to the 1st item starting with those letters.

When using Linux don't you feel like crippled deep down a dungeon? is Linux a good platform to allow a software developer make a living ? Also I didn't find any desktop manager which allowed searching within a combobox  ;D

You might want to combine FARR with some specific software for indexed searching like Locate32

I prefer Mint11 with the good old Gnome2 desktop manager. Unfortunately, it is not supported anymore so I looked for distributions with Gnome2. I can recommend SolusOS adn Stella(CentOS).

Another good distro based on MATE (and Debian) is Pointlinux.

Hang'em High

MAJOR ASS-KICKING FLICK!

I used to have the sound track to that. Great music and amazing film!

High Plains Drifter
A Fistful of Dollars
For a Few Dollars More
THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY <<<< Damned if that's not one of the best flicks ever!
The Outlaw Jose Wales

The Clint spaghetti westerns are just fantastic! Huge fan of them here! :D

oops I meant High Plains Drifter, the one with a town next to a lake.
I also like to revisit the sense of humor of David Lynch, as in the film Wild at Heart or the tv series Twin Peaks.

I like to watch these ones once in a while for some reason
The Name of the Rose
Jeremiah Johnson
Hang'em High
The Beguiled
Also I've always wanted to watch old noir movies, there must be great stories there.
There is a good french film about a prison escape that I want to see again, Le Trou.

One of my favorite movies of the last year or two is Cry of the Owl -- the 2009 version with Paddy Considine. I just love it.

This is really good, it reminds me of one of my favorite movies, Vertigo.
The same punch in the face the first time you watch them, with a twisted love story that involves deception.
Thanks guys for so many good recommendations.
