This sounds about right to me:

Well I gotta say one thing if favor of Corona...It's made service at Staples freaking Awesome!! Usually you have to track one of these clown down like you're hunting for Bigfoot. But now you can't get 4 steps into the store before being accosted by someone wanting to help you find what your looking for (and leave..). It's just like the - years ago level - service they should of had in they $&^%# first place.

I'm loving it; need a mouse; back in 5 - 48 minutes? ...I made it in-and-out in 2 … Awesome!

 :D

Shit … I thought CST was 2 hours off my time, lookz like I'm an hour late.

Crap!!!
104
Wait, what..? Did I miss it???

Shit!
105
Follow up thought: More folks might be able to join in if you kept the window open a bit (like 30 minutes) longer so they could pop in for the duration of their comfort level...

Savvy?
106
Can we lighten up on the short and tight window thing?? Mayhaps if the "carrot" dangles a bit...more folks can/will make it in..

I'm working on "angling it in" (schedule wise), but wife stuff/dinner is/can/will make it hard to hit.
107
I'd be game, if I can remember to do it.

Now the conditions:   I need it to be something where I could lock the folders on my system and post them for download on a website by a group of people.  The group would be downloading several normal folders of files as well but a few of them would be marked as needing a password and only a few of the group would know that password.

Why not just put them in a passworded zip? That would make their downloading of the folders easier as well.

Trick is you gotta remember to lick both sides of the memory module before snapping it into the motherboard, otherwise the current flow won't be fully primed and the buss width will be cut in half..
So that's what I need to do now to stave off the boredom :-\ :P

Dark humor, sarcasm, and a staunch refusal to take myself seriously have always helped me get through anything. So if my antics can make at least one person smile, then the world can be just a tad bit brighter at least for them … And I'm good with that.

@Wraith808: Yeah, maybe just a touch..  :D

...At least that's what I usually tell the new guys in IT to see if they're safe with hand tools - nobody has failed yet - but we had one that thought about it way to hard ... Yikes!.

I tried ZellePay with my daughter, and there are limits imposed by each bank being transferred from/to that aren't apparent.  We spent a couple of days trying to figure out what was wrong before seeing that they had a ridiculous limit on what could be transferred.

Interesting... We haven't had occasion to transfer anything over $1,000, but we have gotten close without any issues. However it most likely varies from bank to bank as to if/when they decide to clench up and whinge..

My brother is an OTR truck driver, and is out of state for months at a time. He recently turned us onto ZellePay which is a really nice fee free service for sending money anywhere fast. He can drop money directly into our account from out on the road with a few clicks, and it's there in seconds.

Might be worth considering.

Thanks guys, I think I have a plan now.

PS. WTF do they want a fancy font for?  It's supposed to be serious not an invitation.

Best guess is if I could "understand" the answer, I wouldn't be qualified for the job I'm in...  :D

5 Blatantly obvious tips for preventing Corona:
Try washing your hands with actual soap at least once a day - Seriously why the hell do we have to tell people this...wasn't that their mother's job??
Don't drink water from the toilet - Sure the dog does it, but they haven't been subjected to 6 generations of snowflake poisonings...
Don't kiss random strangers - Yeah I know that kind of thing was popular back in the 60's and 70's … But now it's god damn felony.
Never invoke the 5 second rule in a sewage treatment facility - FFS don't make me explain this one!!
Don't share needles with anybody that has a runny nose - See note on rule 4

Blat would be fine if I had a month to play with and learn it. But this - of course - is a @*$^$%%# firedrill.

Sigh...

Only GUI's I found for Blat have no way of feeding in the address list, so I'm back to probably chunking the address list into Outlook in sections and hoping that nobody replies.

*Joy*...

@Shades - Yes I'm well aware of the ramifications.. I also sure-as-hell ain't gonna send out 1,000+ Emails individually...

So...

Need automation suggestions, Turbo above was close, but it comes with a Python protocol bugg that prevents it from connecting to the mail server.

Like I had originally stated: I already know it's a stupid ****ing Idea!! But The Brass wants what the Brass wants...so it's make it happen time.

Screw logic and common sense - Important People Want Things.

Okay so the Coronavirus has everyone in a swivvet, and the company I work for is gagging to jump on the panic wagon by sending out a touchy-feely 'We promise to wash our hands and not sneeze on your keyboard' mailing to all of our clients.

Please don't tell my why this is annoying and dumb … I already know that (this ain't my idea..).

What I need is something idiot simple and fast, so I can get this mind-numbingly demented nonsense off my plate.

Requirements are - I hope - simple enough:

  • HTML Email body - Because (of course) it contains a graphic and fancy fonts
  • Capable of sending to 1000+ addresses in a BCC fashion - HIPAA/GDPR/Common Blinking Sense...
  • Most be able to send from a reply address that is different that the mail server login credentials - Because I sure as hell ain't playing catch with any responses for this fiasco … That "honor" will go to the clowns in the sales department that thought of it in the first place :)
  • Must be either free, or extremely cheap - Because I never ever want to use it again, for anything, ever.
  • Oh yeah, and the emails have to have an attachment - Yes I know they Most likely all be deleted for this and I don't ****ing care … I just need to be able to hit send in front of the brass so they go (…) away all warm, fuzzy, and morally validated with themselves...

Only upside is I will be going out through our internally controlled public mail server, so that part won't be as painful as the rest.

Does anyone have a clue as to what I can use for this??

TIA

But I'm with wraith808. While I do sometimes use the pinned/tiled apps, I rarely use the list of programs in the Start Menu anymore. I just press the Windows key and start typing and press enter. If the Start Menu search doesn't find what I'm looking for, I create a shortcut and give it a name I'll remember to search for and pin that shortcut to the Start Menu

Same here … Hell, I forgot the list was even there I haven't used it in so long.

Only real way to deal with it is to just block unknown numbers and hope real people leave a message.

Amen to that! One of the guys here in IT got a spam call last week that appeared to be coming from his own number.

I really miss E-Sheep from back in the 90's. Excellent but sadly 16-bit desktop "pet". But I've had Fly On Desktop running around on my desktop for a year or so. It's incredibly realistic, light on resources, and gets people all the time. I set it off on a salesman's workstation once years ago, and he damn near knocked his monitor off the desk trying to swat the damn thing.

In case anyone is interested and is doing their taxes looking for an alternative, taxact was a lot cheaper than the big two when I was doing mine.
-absoblogginlutely (January 18, 2020, 06:37 AM)

I've been using TaxAct since 2004 and am quite happy with it. They do have a few upsell naggs here and there, but they - historically - have been under $20, opt-in only, and quite easy to skip.

I've never used RegEx frequently enough to be good at it, but I have found WildGem handy for getting through it from time to time. It's a freeware graphical RegEx query builder utility written by one of the members here at DC.

I went to register a product on Panasonic's site.  Had to enter date of birth.  When I got to the year field, accidentally pressed End.  The site's response had a certain lack of making connections about it...
