I've been using Logmein free for a while now to access my home PC and it has worked great.  Only issue I ran into was that when Zonalarm poppup up a window, I couldn't click on anything from remote.  Just figured out today that I need to turn off the Zonealarm client protection feature.

Another one I was testing today was www.remobo.com.  It's currently in beta, but all functions are free and people seem to like it.  Supposedly it'll go pay eventually, but a free version remain with reduced features.  I ran into the Zonealarm popup issue so my testing has paused until I can get back to my remote PC.

Mikogo looks very similar to Remobo so I definitely will try that one out next.

Question: can a non-SATA hard drive be put into one of those hard drive enclosure kits that turns your HD into an external drive, and then used with a computer whose hard drive IS of the SATA type?

As mouser says, this is not a problem at all.  As a matter of fact there's a pretty decent one on sale at Circuit City right now.  More info here.  It involves a rebate, but it is a CC rebate, so you'll get it as long as you fill it out corrrectly.  Tomorrow is last day on this one.  It's not considered to be a top tier enclosure, but next in line.

I agree with Mouser - this is one of the best.  I've been using it since about version 4 I believe.  It's certainly one of the most flexible ones available - lots of options.  Of course lots of options often leads to a little complexity.  It can take a little to figure out how to tweak all the various stuff.  But if you just want to get an album out there quickly, it can be done.  Having so many nice web skins available makes this possible.

If you're looking for a client side album generator, I highly recommend you check this one out.  Now off to see what nice changes have been made with this major release.

Thousand lps?     Wow!  I guess this would be a cool idea.  But the sound quality will not be that great.  And to clean it up would take some time and still not be near CD quality.  So it might be better to replace the lps with equivalent CDs, mp3s, etc.  Unless of course you cannot find the lp in another format or it's just too cost prohibative.

I also wanted to point out that Wink was not designed to capture and then present in a movie like fashion.  However, with 2.0 and the addition of sound, it comes pretty close.

I took a look at those 2 samples by wr975.  Quite similar.  Mostly just didnt' add the callouts to the Wink sample.  And comparing the costs between BB Flashback and Wink, well, there's no comparison there.

Personally, I think Wink 2.0 is a fine piece of software.  It doesn't do everything and it won't.  But it does a lot and does it well for free.

Indeed.  Sound is in 2.0 and the first 2.0 release is nearly ready.  Good chance it'll be out within another week from now.

Another new feature often asked for is undo/redo along with multiple callouts and buttons per frame.  It's shaping up to be a fine release.  Stay tuned...

Best ScreenCaster / Wink 2.0 in the Works

I've been a fan of Wink for a while and used it for miscellaneous projects.  For those that are interested, I wanted to mention that Wink 2.0 is in the works.  It currently is in beta testing.  It'll have several new features including voice anotation.
