Works well as a simple radio player - it would be nice to have a very low memory radio player without all the cosmetics - good luck with the coding

I have used a Kensington Expert Mouse Trackball for over 5 years now and really love it - the new version is even sleeker than mine - it, IMHO, is a well made product and stands up to my heavy left handed use very well.

This could be an interesting discussion.  I bought my first computer "off the shelf" in 1981 and then went on to build or have built many units after that. However, when looking for a machine three years ago, I bought my first HP - my friend, who still builds all his own thought I was nuts, until trying to come anywhere near the HP price.  Granted I didn't have true specs of each part but why would that bother me at my age. The machine has served well until recently - I am not sure if its MS updates that are making the OS (WinXP MCE 2005) become a little unstable or its time to do a re-install.  Now that's wherein lies the rub - no CD although I burned 3 rescue DVDs on the first day even HP recommends getting new disks from them (OK why waste 3 DVDs) restoring looks like a daunting task. I don't think the power supply is up to handling all the USB devices that could be plugged in. 
I am now looking at upgrading?downgrading to Win 7 so will watch this thread to see what others have to say.

Another tray clock I've used for years is LClock by Ying Han found on neowin.com - has a calendar that pops up on a left click - can be customize - small and neat

This is very unlikely, but maybe it is a small world after all. What part of Alberta are you living in and how long have you been there? I became friends with a young lady who was from somewhere in southern Alberta--I can't remember the name of it without looking at a map--we lost contact years ago and I've been trying to look her up. She went to college in Lethbridge in the past few years and either lived there originally or some town relatively nearby. Anyway, her name is Kristi Derricott. Know any Derricotts?

I've used Abilon for my RSS reader for a couple of years.  Added DonationCoder to it.  It's been reliable, not bloated, and is free.  I keep my feeds down to a reasonable number and then only read them once per day - more like the newspaper but I must admit I prefer that than to all the newsletters I used to get.  When I am 'working' I not really interested in being interupted by a scroller/ticker it becomes counter productive very quickly.  So I guess I would say, "I can't live without it" now!

Great post Darwin - very well written.

I use EasyCleaner and RegSupreme Pro (watered down Jv16) - each finds different entries to remove.  What I find interesting is that many of those entries re-appear each week - and I don't mean MRUs.  I still am not sure how they get added as the programs are no long on the HD unless they're hidden somewhere else. Some of the demo reg cleaner actually seem to inflate the number of errors by adding every conceivable line so one gets xthousand instead of x100s. The registry was an ill conceived plan by MS so that registration could be hidden within.  Plus a lot of other unnecessary garbage. Why some authors like to make upteen registry entries all over the hive instead of making one entry at top level and others below that one I don't understand either.  But then again after using a PC since DOS 2.2 nothing suprises me any more.

Small world isn't it - you were born in Bromborough - I was born in Birkenhead (just down the road really) !!

Small world it is but Canada a big country I live in Alberta about 4000kms west of Toronto.
Bebington was my home town.  But we left there when I was 5 so I remember only the bits that I've seen since then.  Not been back to UK for over ten years now.

Hello, Hi, Heyup, Dumela, Avuxeni, in other words greetings other members.
I just found this part of the board so here goes.  I was born (it's true) in Bromborough, Cheshire, UK. After High School I went to Hotel School in Stoke.  From there into management for a subsidiary of Lyons in London.  Trampling on people to get to the top didn't appeal to me (have no killer instinct) so left that behind to be the Chef/Instructor at an approved school (young offenders) in Derbyshire.  My father got offered a teaching position in Johannesburg and 'forced' me to apply to get a job too. I worked back in the catering industry as a training officer until getting married.  I then had the qualifications to be a houseparent in a boys home (had a wife to be housemother) Had 35 boys from 7-14 in my house. Great fun My wife had been a missionary in Angola and we met at our church.  I am a Christian and come from a Christian family. My grandfather was a missionary in the Congo, where my Dad was born.  My daughter was born and when she got to the age of being 'at risk' we decided to leave the home.  As my wife is a Canadian we moved to Canada.  I worked with people with disabilities and wrote software, as a volunteer, for children with severe multiple disabilities.  Unfortunately, lifting etc. took its toll and I ended up having to give up the work.  So now I am on a disability pension at the age of 54.  Thank God for computers - I can still travel by internet!
Now I play with the computer and am getting into CG 3D art.
