Is this a (free) trial software?

BTW - How did you extract the setup file? I tried quickly with Universal Extractor, but it threw an error. I gave up at that point.-Renegade (March 25, 2011, 11:30 PM)
looks "Super Simple" alright!will there be a super simple non-installer version be available for download?
-lanux128 (March 25, 2011, 02:43 AM)
Unfortunately no.
First reason, the deployment looks like this:AssemblyLoader4x86.dll
Camera.ico
client.wyc
msvcp100.dll
msvcr100.dll
Photo Resizer.chm
PhotoResizer.exe
unins000.dat
unins000.exe
Uninstall.ico
wyUpdate.exe
Now, you could download the installer thenextract it with something like Universal Extractor(checked - doesn't work -- the installer is signed so UE can't extract it), and you'd have that, and it would run, but you wouldn't get the registry entries for the Windows Explorer integration or any of the shortcuts. I'll be explaining what the deployment files are in future blog posts.
Second reason, having a second deployment would require too much explanation and complicate things too much. The entire idea is to simplify things as much as possible for the target audience so as not to confuse them. Multiple deployment options (other than EXE vs. ZIP) requires having additional explanations which clutter up the page, which is something I'm trying to avoid.-Renegade (March 25, 2011, 09:45 PM)
I'm really not liking the Age column being displayed but I don't mind having that info. How about I just show the highlighted person's age in another section on the statusbar instead?-skwire (March 22, 2011, 12:54 PM)
I'd also vote to keep it simple, and confine the 'days left' feature to only show days until the next birthday(s) ahead (name(s) included), somewhere in the statusbar or toolbar area.-Ath (March 22, 2011, 05:10 AM)
I'm trying to avoid adding more columns since they're such small listviews to begin with.-skwire (March 21, 2011, 06:57 PM)
Shut up then!AutoUpdater, Open Candy... a sure recipe to stay away from your software.-PhilB66 (March 10, 2011, 01:46 AM)

Just out of curiosity: are you going to state right up front on your download and product info pages that it contains OpenCandy, identify it as an adware application, and say that if you don't want to install it you'll need to explicitly tell it not to? and that tracking software may remain on their machine even if they later "uninstall" it.
Or are you going to let them find out about it after they download and start installing like it seems everybody who is including it does?-40hz (March 08, 2011, 08:11 AM)
Well 40hz, I didn't see you warn me (us?) that the article you linked to was on a page
a) full of ads
b) which used at least 1 type of tracking mechanism
c) left behind files on my PC (numerous cookies, at least two of which were for tracking my browsing habits) even after I browsed away from the page.
That article, was every bit as evil as people seem to claim OC is.-Eóin (March 09, 2011, 03:44 PM)
Funny. That didn't happen to me. I have a cookie and ad blocker installed on my machine.
But apparently this discussion is getting you upset. So tell you what. Let's just forget it. Ok?
-----
P.S. Perhaps I didn't warn you because I didn't know? It isn't my webpage. Which is a bit different than somebody who signs on with OC and does know what it does. Or at least I assume they would before they started deploying it.-40hz (March 09, 2011, 04:01 PM)
Does not work with other (non-US) locations. I tried Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Budapest, and Tokyo.-PhilB66 (March 07, 2011, 06:09 PM)
Works fine for me with the one you provided via PM. Do you not have a default browser set?-skwire (March 07, 2011, 08:08 PM)
