Our Reviews Have Fans, Part 2
I like your review recommendations, it shows you have evaluated the the whole range of available products, unlike PCmag, which only evaluates a few major software (and probably was suggested by the authors themselves).. Focus on the quality content, and people will come. It's a nice refreshing website, hope to see it grow.

Goal Enforcer: great time management software find!

blog clipart
Goal Enforcer 1.6: Project/Goal planning made simple.

Price: $29.95
URL:  http://www.goalenforcer.com

GoalEnforcer is based on the principles of human "Working Memory" and "Short Term Memory" in order to maximize the the efficiency of the user's thinking process. It has been known from extensive research that human "Working Memory/Short Term Memory" are optimal to hold around 7 items at a time. GoalEnforcer provides a graphical programming environment through the use of a designer window and a complete set of visual editing tools that can help you show tasks in groups not bigger than 7 at a time (on screen).

There is even a blog that was recently started to go along with this application and the author encourages you to submit suggestions and articles. The only bad thing I can see so far is that it's a demo, which has some features disabled, like printing and saving. I haven't been this excited over a program in a long time.

Cool Open Source file-sharing app: HTTP File Server (HFS)

blog clipart
Added a really cool Open Source app tonight to the Great Software List called HFS, for "HTTP File Server", and I love it.

HFS, HTTP File Server is file sharing software which allows you to send and receive files, very much like a webserver (only it doesn't host websites). You can limit this sharing to just a few friends, or be open to the whole world. HFS is different from classic file sharing because there is no network. HFS is a web server which uses web technology to be more compatible with today's Internet. Since it is actually a web server, your friends can download files as if they were downloading from a website using a web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox.

Mini-review: Agenda at Once

My review is here:
http://www.academicp...com/blog/archives/15

I think this is a fantastic program and very useful for the current GEO experiment running. I think it is particularly relevant to those trying to implement Mark Forster's ideas with a program.

Font Creator Mini Review

Screenshot - 10_11_2006 , 9_59_36 PM_thumb.png
Font Creator and Font Creator Pro are from High-Logic Software. They make two applications, Font Creator (for creating fonts) and MainType (for managing them).

Font Creator (both standard and pro) are designed for anyone who wants to design fonts. The standard version might be perfectly adequate for your needs and I would again refer you to the aforementioned comparison chart. I have seen other application similar in function that cost several hundred dollars more than Font Creator. All of the reviews I remember seeing on Font Creator rate it 5/5. Hence, it's one of the least expensive, very capable font development applications you can obtain.

Discussion of Game Engines w/Screenshots

blog clipart
Deozaan asks:

Hi everyone. I would like to make a list of game engines as a general resource, but also to start doing (mini) reviews on them. So if you've ever used a game engine, I'd like to know what it is, where to find more information about it, and what your thoughts were about your experience with it. It should also be useful to know how advanced you are as a programmer with the language the engine required you to use.
