Q.  Why do cats eat cheese?
A.  So they can wait outside mouseholes with bated breath.

Great cartoon, Carol. I've visited Userfriendly.org over the years, usually with great delight. And if you code, be sure to visit this page!

Just received the attached Powerpoint slideshow (I have zipped it) from a friend - made me laugh (a lot). Also shows you what you can do with photo editing software. Sorry don't know where it came from originally.

If you need the PP player you can get it http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=428d5727-43ab-4f24-90b7-a94784af71a4&DisplayLang=en

Now Jupiter, Saturn Uranos and Neptune compared to those:

And here's the Sun, compared to all of them:

When I used to teach young children I would get the kids outdoors to do the size of the planets. The Sun was a large beachball, Jupiter was a tennis ball and the Earth a tiny green lentil. We then used to set about getting the scale right, which meant the Sun and the Earth had to be about 30 metres apart (and from that distance you couldn't see the Earth). Unfortunately the playground wasn't big enough to get Jupiter in the right place on that scale!!

Certainly puts things in perspective.

Don't know how many american were aware or the late great Kenny Everet. He was a notorius DJ for the BBC in the 70s and 80s who had the distinction of being sacked on numerous occasions for being too outragous. Needless to say he had a loyal following (me included) and the BBC always had to chase after him to get him back!

A new podcast has just been released of his ongoing 'serial' item of Captain Kremmen ... give it a go - you'll be hooked ;)

See http://www.creationp...p?cat=captainkremmen for details

If your mind is in need of a boggle, try the The Definitive Exploding Whale Site

I owe this one to Kay Shapero, who wrote a filk (science fiction folk song) about it.

Captain Kremmen - hahah i love it.
actually this kind of thing is one of my favorite types of humour - i don't think it has a name but it should - it's where you have something that is 99% normal, and appears on the face of it to be like any other of its kind, but then it has 1% "subversive" or "rule-breaking" material inside it.

Being an Evil Overlord seems to be a good career choice. It pays well, there are all sorts of perks and you can set your own hours. However every Evil Overlord I've read about in books or seen in movies invariably gets overthrown and destroyed in the end. I've noticed that no matter whether they are barbarian lords, deranged wizards, mad scientists or alien invaders, they always seem to make the same basic mistakes every single time. With that in mind, allow me to present...

The Top 100 Things I'd Do If I Ever Became An Evil Overlord
