oh is beta 3 out already?

you know there is a new beta of url snooper which comes with 4.0x winpcap and includes some fixed for IE7 and Vista.  I thought i had made that available on the download page but I see I haven't yet!

let me rebuild a new url snooper beta with the newest winpcap and upload it tonight for users.

back to your original question:
i would recommend upgrading winpcap only if your current version isnt properly sniffing packets - i don't think there is another compelling reason to do so, and it's tricky enough that i wouldnt mess with uninstalling and reinstalling winpcap if i didnt have to.

good to know.  stable version it is.... unless you're beta version supports the other driver mentioned in this thread:

;)

Would that mean no need to install anything as "invasive" as WinPcap?   8)

the alternative driver would mean no need to install system driver installation like winpcap, yeah.
i'll try to give an update about that project by the end of January.  It's definitely something i would like to do I just have to consider strongly whether it's worth the time at this juncture.  I'm hoping I can find a little help funding it to at least offset some of the time it will require.

WinPcap 4 final is out. Presumably the current stable URLSnooper release doesn't support it? Many thanks.

That's strange. I wonder why Mouser thought he had to go to a new beta in order to provide support for WinPcap 4?

I can't speak for mouser, except i know he's got a lot on his plate.Sometimes some of his other
babies, like find and run robot, get a little more attention.I'm a daily user of Url Snooper and rarely have had any problems with Beta or non-beta.

As far as a new beta,i don't know what features he could add, then again i'm not a programmer.

You're right. I've now installed WinPcap 4 alongside URLSnooper 2.14.02, and it works fine. In fact it's enabled me to find the URLs of some streams which had been giving me trouble with WinPcap 3.

Wow that sounds cool... is that something that's available in the latest snooper beta?   8)
