Thanks mouser! :)

Hello everyone, I hope you all enjoy my icon tool shootout.   DonationCoder.com is a wonderful place to be at, which is one reason I got so active with it.

Last but not least...Thanks everyone!  :)

Great job, hamradio!

One thing I didn't see mentioned, though, was the ability to import graphics to base your icons on.

I know Microangelo allows you to import .bmp files that you have created in another graphics program. This is my preferred way of creating icons since it gives me much more control over the image creation and I can use any plugins I want in the process by creating the image for the icon in Paintshop Pro.

I also know that Microangelo allows you to export a .gif file of your icon as well as an .ico file, which can be handy for developers that need a small graphic for their PAD files.

I thought import/export was a pretty standard feature as from what I could tell in the ones I looked at since it is in everyone (except the freeware one for import which has bmp export) that is currently in it anyways.  With most being able to do not only .bmp and .gif, but others also. :)

Great job, hamradio!

I have been using a freeware product which is waaayyy better than the one mentioned in the review. It is called Icon Craft by IconEmpire. Since using it, I have had zero thoughts of buying a "better" icon editor.  [Later]...I am using v3.0b and unfortunately, it looks like it is not free anymore.

BTW, thanks for the review!

Just a caveat. I just finished reading this review of Microangelo... Very interesting and rather disturbing!

Also, what about Icon Factory IconBuilder software?  Any opinions on that?

Requires: Mac OS X 10.3.9+ (10.4+ for Intel). One of the following: Photoshop 7+, Elements 2+, or Macromedia Fireworks. Adobe Creative Suite 3 required for Intel.
-Iconfactory

Not really considering it appears to be made for the mac os as I don't have a mac computer, so I can't really help on that side of things...unless someone could donate me a mac laptop that is within the requirements to run it and then I will review it for you...Thats the only way I could give you my opinion of that program. Or maybe someone that has mac that can run it can do a review on it...wish I could help you more on that.

I'd say scary!

It's a shame the developer didn't respond: I know of a few times they have here, and it's always good.
