Winding down DonationCoder after 20 years

Can't believe that the 20 years I've been here has been the longest I've ever been a part of anything, (including the workforce), kind of became disillusioned with the internet a few years ago with the big move to Social Media, (which I'm not part of), so I drifted away.

I've been a member of this site for almost half my life. To say that it has been an influence on me would be an understatement. So many fond memories. So many friendships. So many good people. It has been a net positive in my life.

Believe it or not, but I love and use your software daily ! I made my first donation in 2011 for Screenshot Captor and it's on all my PCs.

Thank you Jesse for providing all of us this marvellous piece of software.

I'd love someone to be able to keep on adding features. The one I miss the most is ability to support .webp format, but I know, it's been 6 years since your last release. Maybe you will provide the sourcecode, or find someone that can continue the maintenance.

I havent been on here nearly as much as I would like to have been, but it has been a real source of enjoyment for me. I even submitted a couple of programs a long while back, which was great fun.

Yeah, it really stinks to see it go away, but eventually ALL good things must end.

Honestly, I don't know what to say... I'm gutted that Donationcoder, but am so grateful for the time that I spent and thoroughly enjoyed here. Thank you for creating such a warm and wonderful space. I'm really sorry to see DonationCoder go. But I know it got zero activity from me in the recent years.

On the other hand, I'm still using every single day the wonderful Cody Mug I won (with the smaller mug sitting in the cupboard as a backup). I still from time to time use some software I once won in a contest here (e.g. BeyondCompare). I'm just... not good at all at being active in a community. But I have five NANY badges in my profile, hope that counts

I may not have participated here on the forums, but I want to say that I've gotten a lot of use out of Jesse's software. This is especially true for Find and Run Robot, which I have literally used just about every day since I discovered the program many years ago. I wish you the best of luck as you forge ahead with whatever comes next!

A little update: with the AI coding ability gotten so good, I feel confident that we will have a full (read-only) archive of donationcoder.com and dcmembers.com up before end of year, with all public software and forum posts, profiles, attachments, images, etc. all preserved, and that it can be done in a secure and affordable way so that it can live forever as a historical artifact.
thanks to stephen for starting me on this path.

it will still be at donationcoder.com and dcmembers.com urls, but hosted on a simple server and not using any server software like php, etc.  There will be no database, no ogins, no passwords, no personal messages accessible (or even on the server in any form).    So it will be secure indefinitely.

HOWEVER,

What you still need to do:
Any forum personal messages will be gone from this archive, so if you want a copy you need to download your personal messages now if you want a record of them.
Any content on any of the non-public forums will be gone (Basement, old coding school, administrative chat forum section).  So grab anything you need there.

Also: Your donationcredits info will be gone, so request paypal payment of any donationcredits remaining in your account asap.
