Some of us were discussing the possibility of having a get together in the mountains, and having the theme be "EVIL DEAD". It would be less costly for all of us to do it this way because we would not have to worry about hotel expenses etc.

Please contact Dell[a] for any suggesstions or ideas.

I am all for this! I love the idea of an EVIL DEAD type theme for the get together. I will bring the necronomicon! Mouser says 2010, but I think sooner should be arranged. Perhaps spring next year!

i don't mean to be a wet blanket but umm.. maybe the first DC gathering should not involve dressing up as monsters. and maybe it should be located someplace that can actually be reached without the aid of sherpas.

and it wouldnt be in far away from civilization
I know a great spot to go.... Let me try and find a web site....
I know of cabins that are fully equipped and even have jacuzzi's in a place with pools and tennis and hiking etc etc

Exactly, That can just be our theme. Get a cabin out in the woods like done in evil dead. Thats more what I think is meant by "Evil dead theme"

Since we live all over the world (mouser, can you get us that great visual you produced way back when?), I have an idea:

At least for the first DC convention, we could pick a date, each choose a mountain (or hill, if mountain not available) and go to it. There, we could commune (telepathically?) with others on the site. Maybe, just by coincidence, we would actually meet up with a nearby member. If not, we could each report back what we did and how much we all missed each other.

This might, at least, get us in the mood for the real thing.

instead of having a get together - which is going to be a bit exclusive as many of us don't have access to a private jet plane - how about you/we have a 'webcam get together'.

this might be more in the spirit of DC - it requires the use of a computer.

i'm sure there is a challenge involved in getting it to work well - and i don't think we've had any reviews or discussion of webcam apps on the site yet(?)

those of us that are shy could wear a disguise or point the camera in a direction that is more suitable.

i like the idea of a real world gathering in 2010.
if we can make it that far and still all be friends it seems worth a real world trip.

I really think the g2g should be held in Denmark. After all, that's geographically closest for everybody. *cough*.

I think there's a coding snack approaching ....
From a list of potential travellers, find a point on earth which
a. minimizes travelling and accomodation costs
b. maximizes pleasure (eg no one wants to go to new zealand, so that's a neg, etc etc)
c. affects any other parameters that can be dreamt up.
Just maybe, mouser's world cup program could be tweaked?

rather than making it easy for a few people and generally more difficult for the others how about just making it difficult for everyone - say, have the gathering in an inflatable boat somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic.

Yeah, I like the idea of having it somewhere in the middle of all of us. To cut costs, maybe some people can double up <car pool or something etc etc...Also, if u buy plane tickets in advance, they are usually cheaper....

tho, I dont wanna wait til 2010...I will have 10 kids by then, and harder to find a babysitter....
