2.18.01 CTRL-D hotkey
« on: July 03, 2006, 12:57 AM »
The new beta has this new item:
• Added delete file item to File menu and hotkey (Ctrl+D)

I don't think the hotkey is a good idea:
Firstly, it conflicts with "View > Details". This was Ctrl-D so far and is still listed as Ctrl-D
Secondly, a deletion per Hotkey without a confirmation will lead to a lot lost images deleted by fault.

you might be right that it's too common a hotkey...
maybe ctrl+alt+d ?

the thing is a lot of people have requested an easier way to delete files, and i agree with them - it should be easy to delete without confirmation (thought i suppose i could make an option to always confirm)..

but thank you very much for pointing out that this hotkey conflicts with detail view(!)
i'll change it to something else on the next beta soon.

Thanks. The always-confirm-option seems to be a good idea, though. Maybe this option could only affect the "deletion by hotkey" which is a far more dangerous thing than "deletion by menu". Deletion by menu won't happen by fault, I guess.

jgpaiva wonders...
Why not use the delete key instead?

And it could have one confirm box with the "don't appear anymore" check-box :D

delete key is actually a bit problematic because it is used to delete objects in object mode, and *may* be intercepted by the shell when the browser thumbnail panel is selected (which can be slow to delete files).

jgpaiva blushes
Right, that makes very much sense!
Then, i guess the solution you mentioned would be perfect!

Ctrl-Q is a nice touch. But it would be nicer if...it could optionally minimize the app at the same time.

So, I'd grab a capture, then edit to my heart's content, then copy to clipboard (Ctrl-C). Now I'm done with the image and with ScreenShot Captor for the moment, so I press Ctrl-Q and it deletes the image and minimizes the app.

Brilliant!   :tellme:
