DONE: Start Delay
« on: June 20, 2006, 09:21 PM »
By way of explanation and as an example, I have a program [ MailWasherPro ] that is set to start with WinXp.
MailWasher then sits in my system tray checking the mail server every so often.
MailWasher then notifies me [ it flashes the icon in the system tray ] when it checks the mail server and sees that I
have e-Mail waiting.

OK ... NOW .... often MailWasher tries to start and run early in the boot process ...  before the computer is sufficiently booted and
connected to the Internet ... the result being that MailWasher tries to load and check my mail but cannot complete the connection
so it returns an error and exits.

It would be nice if someone made a utility that would boot with WinXP, then wait some period of time (make the delay user
settable - say up to 90 seconds or so) and then start MailWasherPro for me.

The utility should then exit to be completely out of the way (no foot-print) until the next boot.

If something like that is possible.  I'm sure my example might not be the only case of a software "jam up" when WinXP is booting.

Thanks for a interesting and innovative site.

Brother_S (A user on this forum) has a program to do just that, I can't remember it's name...

Anyone with a less crap memory recall it?

It's not a bug, it's an undocumented and unexplainable feature.

If you find a good solution and become attached to it, the solution may become your next problem.

You could also go to the MaiwasherPro options tab and uncheck 'perform default mail checkup on startup'.
