SC v2.99.02: Goes fine for me.
By the way, today for the first time, I had occasion to need to use the "splice" functionality on an existing image. Worked a treat.

Thankyou for a very nifty application.

Re "splice"

1) It does work well. I use frequently.

2) If you use highlight/outline and then splice the image moves but the highlight shape stays in the original location so that after the splice it is misplaced. [a]

3) Any chance of getting Splice Toolbar buttons or the option to add them ? Please

[a] You have to remember to "splice first, highlight later".

mouser,

Regarding the Splice feature: The name of the feature is a little confusing to me. The term "splice" usually means "to join two items together" in my experience. Yet the new "splice" feature in Screenshot Captor actually is a kind of cropping utility, isn't it? Or am I not fully understanding the feature. The version history describes the feature as "New "Splice" commands in SpecialFx menu -- allow you to splice out horizontal or vertical regions, like banners.  Good for removing ad regions in screenshots, etc."

Does the Splice feature do anything other than remove portions of an image?  (I am SO confused!!      :tellme:  )

Thank you.

Jim

no it does not.

"Splice Out" is what it does -- it removes a section of the image and splices the remaining surrounding regions together -- much like a film editor would do when splicing out a few unwanted frames.

OK. I guess I just have never heard the term used that way.

Thank you.

Thanks for the update.

btw: I found two small things regarding the drawing of highlighting objects that don't work properly:
1) Draw a circle. Now switch the button to rectangle mode and draw again. It still draws a circle. Only at the second attempt it draws a rectangle.

2) If the Border Color is switched off (which means: don't draw a border), there's still a tiny border.
To check wether it is really the border and not some other effect I switched the border color and indeed, the tiny line changes it's color.

To show what I mean I have created a small video; first 30sec show Nr1) and the rest Nr2)

GREAT ONE!

Right before the summer, I switched from SSC to some Snagit I found :-[ but I didn't feel geed about it.
Because I needed the blending of the highlight boxes very much and it just didn't came.

Now I check it again, and its in there!!!!

It's GREAT!
I had to wait, but now I have different possibilities.
Worth the WAIT.

Thank you very much Mouser.

Time to change my start-up programs again :-)

And time to try the ZUploader. Looks also very handy.

Keep it up. thank you.

Changes:

  • [MinorImprovement]  Better automatic-sized thumbnail panel on Windows Vista/7 themes.

  • [BugFix] Selected Region grab was sometimes not showing region size hint.
  • [MinorImprovement]  Selected region capture now shows full screen sized crosshairs at cursor.

I managed to download this beta (but I still can't download the official release due to the Websense technology used by our company).

I think the cross hairs are a great improvement - thanks Mouser.

If I come across any problems I'll let you know.

Anyone who has downloaded prior to this message please redownload -- seems I forgot to pack in the manifest with the last build -- not a big deal but you might as well get latest version.

Sorry, disregard.  This wasn't the beta :-[

Updated to 2.101.02. Running XP SP3
I am still seeing the smaller + type cursor and not the full screen mentioned.
Tried with shift+print screen and from the tray menu.
Also I am not getting a tray pop-up post capture. I do get the pop-up when doing a full screen or alt-print screen.
Exited and restarted SC in case something needed to take effect and still the same.

The extended crosshairs solve a long-standing problem for me where, because of the background grey that I use, I couldn't even see where I was.

Scrolling capture in FF7 creates a series of 'cuts to black' and results in a single image; it does nothing that I can see in IE7. I say this in the full expectation that I'm missing something, I'll have to go back and look at the videos, but in case it's happening to anyone else.

I wonder if the DisplayLink driver is playing a role here.

This has been weird capturing a scrolled image from FireFox ever since FF 4 came out. And 5, 6 or 7 haven't improved on it. IMHO it's FF's fault :(

have you seen [url=https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=26648.0]Scrolling capture is not working
Yeah, thanks Tomos. My intention was only to report what's happening with this beta. (It's the same phenomenon in IE9)

Other tools that I have for scrolling captures also munge the result at screen/page splits in FF.

Is it possible to make strange arrow's endpoint line removed if there is no text? Maybe make it an option?
