Welcome to the site rcb!

Try using the File menu and Print item from there; once you set the printer from there, the print button should work after that.

And when you do, could you check what printer is shown in the dialog when you use the File -> Print menu, and let us know -- it should be the default printer which should be the one you are trying to print on -- but if print is not working i'm guessing the problem is that it's set to something else.

If that still fails to work, two things to check:
1. see if you can print from another application
2. see if there is a printer icon showing in your system tray, if so double click it to see what might be wrong with your printer "queue"

let us know if that works.

since not many people are using Windows 8 yet, it's possible that something else is going wrong with printing in widows 8.. but let's cross that bridge after we burn down the others.

Do you get the same effect from other programs if you try to print?
Can you delete the items from the queue?
Does the printer queue say why they won't print?

I went to control panel, printers, view installed updates and for some strange reason the printer came to life and started printing. I will see if Microsoft can figure it out, unless anyone on the forum knows what is happening. I sure don't.
