IDEA: Utility to open new windows on the active screen
« on: October 13, 2010, 12:42 PM »
I'd like a small utility that would monitor when new windows are opened and move them to the active screen (in a multiple monitor setup).

Example of Problem:  I open notepad on monitor #3 then click FILE|OPEN and the Open File Dialog opens on monitor #1.

there is a small ahk script/util that will do this - "Dialogmove", it's just one of the things i use it for. here's the original forum thread that got it created:

you will need the version 2 file that works with multi-monitors, available here:

or, a pay-for-program that would also do what you need is Actual Window Manager:

(which i also use because of my multi-monitor setup but i don't use it for moving small dialog windows around.)

Perfect.  That is exactly what I've been looking for for months!

Thanks,
