No offense intended, but Yuk!! Not only is that bar at the top of the screen awful, but what the hell is IE doing on that site featured so prominently, with the other (read: better) browsers displayed to such a lesser extent, not to mention the complete lack of Opera, Chome et al. And what of the plethora of users unable to update their browsers because they're visiting on machines they don't have administrative access to?

As ehtyar said, there are people that can't upgrade/update to whatever they are pushing, for a variety of reasons.

None of the browsers they list (IE, Firefox, or Safari) have a version that is current and capable of running on Win9x. Are they going to list K-Meleon for 9x users? Or are they just going to be browser/OS bigots for profit?

I can't help but wonder the motivation that site has with their message, such as getting people to link to them so they have a higher PR and the ad space they have is worth more money?

And pushing IE7 when the current version is actually IE8? I think they may need to update their browser.  ;D

I'd might be more inclined to go along with them if they'd just change their byline from this:

An online, community initiative to phase out Internet Explorer 6

to this:

An online, community initiative to phase out Internet Explorer

Why think small?  ;)

And who are these people anyway? There's no About page - or anything else identifying who these 'oh so helpful' folks are. I'm always suspicious of nameless and unidentifiable humanitarians.

What exactly is the reason to even stay with IE6? Unless you are voluntarily or otherwise on Win9x in which case IE7 is not compatible nor is FF3

What am I missing here?

Why list a browser with sub 1% usage?

So where the limit is? 5% or maybe 10%? Does Chrome fit or not yet?
What about operating systems (like app103 mentioned)? Is the limit the same or it does not care about it?

Browser security is not about it's version only but also about additional components like Flash or Java. Will this site tell me everything is OK for the newest Firefox with really outdated Flash?

Back to the percents... Is it really wise to watch only them for whole of the time? If yes, than we should never ever mention about Linux distros for desktop.

But of course Joshua (though I suspect you mean evulklown). That is a bit of an inside joke though, and colossal asshat is just a little more fun to say :P

Internet Explorer and Windows gave the world the opportunity to learn and improve computer language and programs.  Apple gave no one anything except proprietary use software, hardware and gimme-money ware.We are able to code now because Microsoft thought of everyone pitching in. Apple didn't promote anything by others unless it fit apple and they NEVER compromized but rather held strong to their proprietary software. Now that you have learned with windows go make something else that will work on its own or with windows. Apple never said that. Give Microsoft a break and tell the truth about them. I am not delighted with them but the truth is, left to Apple nobody would be able to write much.
