Janino another new toy?
« on: January 06, 2008, 04:24 PM »

Overview: Janino is not intended to be a development tool, but an embedded compiler for run-time compilation purposes, such as expression evaluators or "server pages" engines like JSP. The major design goal was to keep the compiler small and simple, while partially sacrificing completeness. Nobody likes the idea of carrying around huge libraries for simple applications. See Parser for the list of implemented and missing language features. This software is a useful compiler which reads a Java expression, block, or source file, and generates Java byte code that is loaded and executed directly. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.

Small and simple, 1.7meg download... hehe. I'd rather invest some time in http://www.lua.org . But thanks for the link nonetheless :)

Btw, direct link to janino, I always have trouble finding that stuff on those download sites.

PS: what's the "&promo=100500" part of your link?

I have no idea! It was listed on the page above which came from a list of recent blogs on ZDNet on an RSS feed from ZDNet.
The title of the page...
<title>thinBasic (5), from thinBasic - Free Downloads on ZDNet | Shareware, Trialware, Evaluation Software</title>
There are five downloads listed on the bottom of that page and all show "promo" in the link.
I'm clueless!

The list of feeds is here...
