it should not crash on win98, in fact it should work fine on windows 98.
the crash is surely coming from the winpcap network sniffing drivers; the support pages for these are here: http://www.winpcap.org

maybe you can find something about it there?  it may be due entirely to the usb connection to the router rather then the fact that it's windows 98 at all.

actually if you are feeling adventurous, maybe you could try this test program that uses another network sniffing engine:
https://www.donation...s/Pssdk_DumpDemo.zip

that program is just a test program but if it works it tells me that a version of url snooper could be made which works on your computer.

let me know about anything you find regarding the crash or the test program :)

Oh, I forgot :

After installing URLsnooper but not WinPcap, as soon as I launch URLs, I get a message telling about WPCAP.DLL not found.

No severe crash of the machine.

Then I install WinPcap and launch URLSnooper : Black screen and the machine autoboots, making a scandisk.

Found this at WinPcap's :

Q-14: On which OS can I run WinPcap?

A: WinPcap can run on all the main Win32 operating systems: Windows 95, 98, ME, NT4, 2000, XP, 2003. If you have Windows XP/2003, you need WinPcap version 2.3 or higher. Note: the old family of Windows operating systems, i.e. Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows ME, is no more supported by the WinPcap team, so if you use them you are on your own.
Regarding Windows Vista (also known as "Longhorn"), WinPcap 3.1 should work, but with limited functionality: PPP is not supported (at least on Vista BETA1), and IPv6 addresses are not listed. We plan to address these issues soon after the release of WinPcap 3.1.

64-bit operating systems are not supported yet.

do you know your network adapter?
a search for winpcap and the network adapter name might yield some clues.

It's Inventel DW-B-200  for ADSL, with USB (and Ethernet, but no card on my old computer) ports and wireless connections to computers.

Looking at forums,  it seems to be problems with WinpCap and USB modems.

No matter, I can copy URLs from one computer to the other :)
