This release has some new plugin (minor) features /bugfixes that are used by hamradio's new and excellent hamNotes plugin.

Version 2.66.01 - June 21st, 2009
  • [BugFix] Fixed bug where plugin functions OnProcessTriggerV2 were not being called if OnProcessTrigger didnt exist in the plugin dll (even though it was never used).
  • [MinorFeature] Added pscommand which works just like pcommand except you can specific dll to send a pscommand to by specifying the dllname first.
  • [BugFix] Fixed bug with alert messages moving the main form on multimon systems.
  • [MinorFeature] Added print command that aliases or plugins can call to send some simple text to the printer.
  • [BugFix] Visit this alias context menu item was not showing right caption sometimes.
  • [Feature] Added help page on troubleshooting.
  • [Feature] Added clearmenus command that plugins can call to clear statusbar icon menus.
  • [Feature] Upgraded to latest version of EmbeddedWb web browser component (http://www.bsalsa.com/)
  • [Feature] Added function "score:" that plugins can call to have farr score a string based on current search terms.
  • [BugFix] On IE6 and earlier, repeated plugin calls that use html view (jscalc,czbpack plugins) could hang.  Thanks JoTo!
  • [Feature] Added option to always reset search string when hotkey triggered (default is old behavior which is to just refocus farr window if already on screen).
  • [Feature] Added new alias action called "dolaunch" which is like dosearch except it triggers an immediate launch of the specified line as soon as a match is made with search string (i.e. user does not have to hit enter or otherwise trigger result).
  • [Feature] Added runcap built in alias to shell a commandline tool and show its output in FARR window (see this forum post).
  • [Feature] Improved speed of changing/interrupting search of plugin -- should speed up some plugin searches that return lots of results.
  • [BugFix] Variables weren't being replaced in the #filecontents command.

I had one like that, but I prefer to set the window font to fixed, because some of the programs I use regularly use spaces to create a tabular layout. For example, gcal:

Thanks for the reminder. I stopped using appcapappendmemo because of the "append" - the output kept growing. I should have thought of addinga showmemo at the start like you did :-)

"dolaunch" works great!  :up:

I now use it like this: for some very often used apps I've made aliases consisting of one letter three times in a row. example: the regex alias "^fff$" triggers: dolaunch C:\path\firefox.exe . Such letter aliases are speedy to type and there's slight chance of launching the alias by mistake. I'm now also thinking of making a "zzz" alias to immediately shut down the computer :D

Just upgraded and I noticed that the FARR window background flashes black before it displays the content (which has a white background) for the first time.  It's a trivial issue, but is visually distracting and takes away from the very polished feel of the program.  v2.61 didn't do it from what I remember.  Is there anywhere I can download v2.61 to confirm?

Thanks.  v2.61 doesn't have the problem.  

In v2.66.01, it happens when window is first displayed immediately before the last 9 results are displayed.  So, to answer your question, it's when displaying normal results.  It looks like the sequence of events is, 1-window is displayed, 2-window resizes (at which point the content area is black), 3-content area is rendered (with text, icons, and white background).  It happens very quickly, but the black to white change produces a noticeable "flickering" effect.  Hopefully that is helpful. 

One additional note.  After the initial results are displayed, it doesn't happen as the results change.

Sure.  I'm not using a skin.  I tried with a few different skins, just to see if it made a difference and it did not.  I'm using Windows 7 x64 RC :D

the face that it doesnt happen on 2.61.01 but reliably happens with 2.66 means it must be something simple to fix.
if you don't mind i'd like to send you 2.63.01 if i can find it, to further help me narrow down when the change was made that started this problem.

would it be possible to ask you to try, if you don't mind, v2.66.01 with a completely clean farr install with no plugins and the default configuration settings..

(with win7 the findandrunrobot config ini file will be in your documents subdirectory).

i just want to make sure we are comparing apples to apples here, and that the problem happens with a clean out of the box farr, when the only thing that changes between what has the bug and doesnt is the 2.66 exe vs. the 2.61 exe.

I also have the black flash in 2.66.01 though I'm not sure if that's a new thing or not. I am using a slenderFARR skin mod and transparency.

This request is a repost from a while back I think but I can't find the other post I made.

The FARR statusbar displays text on startup even when the GUI was just opened and no text has been entered:

Maybe add some way to disable the "Found _ results in _ seconds." message (or replace it with " ")? Or more radically, to disable all statusbar text.

Nod5, what OS are you using? can you do the test for me and back up your FindAndRunRobot settings file .ini and delete it and remove any plugins and see if the problem persists?

I don't get the black screen so i need some help figuring out what triggers this.

I just reinstalled and tried some of the setting that Nod5 mentioned in the earlier posts.  Enabling "alpha fade into view" or disabling "auto-shrink" eliminates the issue.  The transparency setting has no effect on the issue for me.

that's really interesting.. looking back at the old post nod5 points to, i find that i can get the black effect IFF i configure some non-0 transparency for FARR.. very strange.. ok well it looks like we have some clues.. and most importantly i can reproduce at least something like what is being described.

dan, not to beat a dead horse, but can i just confirm from you that v2.61 does not have this problem, even with EXACT SAME settings, plugins, etc. (i.e. if you just replace the exe)? the only reason i really want to confirm this is that otherwise i'll spend a day chasing up the wrong tree.
