a couple of minor queries..

BUT
what I would really like :) would be a Control+Mouse Click or some other key+click combo
Double clicks kill me :-[
Fixed. CTRL-Click will now open the link (file, email, web)

is this implemented ? - not working here...0.9.22

I want to show "Projects" and ONLY files that have a "ChangeRequest" that arent "Changed"
So,
"Projects" and files ("file" ticked) where "ChangeRequest" is ticked AND "Changed" is not ticked

I'm REALLY not an expert. But if I understand what you want, this should work :

projects AND files AND changerequest AND changed is null

meaning : show me the items which have something in the fields "projects", "files" and "changerequests", but nothing in the the field "changed".

thanks Armando,
that got it for me after making it "Projects OR files and..."

the "changed is null" with all "and" ruled out all other items where that not ticked (not what I wanted)
I just wanted to rule out files where "ChangeRequest" is ticked AND "Changed" is not ticked

I had to make sure files were not ticked as "projects" too
Thanks

you do have to think a bit about how to organise fields to make search/filters easier (I enjoy that actually :))
also just thinking it probably would be difficult for a filter pane to pick up on the subtleties of a search like that  :-\

hmm,
quick comments -
I'm using Evernote, Surfulater and now, SQL-Notes

Evernote more for ideas, uncategorisable stuff, scanned/photographed text cause you can search the text, notes on projects in progress (work), writing (scraps of things - I want to start using wikidpad for writing and ideas though but havent had the time to really get into it)

Surfulater is super when you're organising things, you can "clone" stuff but not tag (yet) e.g. perfect for "fitness routines and tips, recipes"

SQL-Notes (beta) if you've got a lot of overlapping areas of interest I reckon it wont be beaten. Armando thinks it's not difficult, I'll just say it's getting easier as beta progresses - it's very usable now btw.
Could possibly replace the other two here but when stuff is clearcut I actually like having it on different programmes -
e.g. in Surfulater I have:- info on software from web, photoshop tutorials, info about setting up new pc, etc. and even thoughSQL-Notes could already easily do this...well, I have a liscence for Surfulater and it's actively developed so nice to be involved there, also I have a nice colour scheme on it :-* :P)

(should probably get "Projects" to apply to sub-items as well)

Value-> Sub-items works for new items, is there a way to get it to work for all current subitems ?*
I can just select all and apply too...

EDIT/-
* I suppose you could say I want here to apply it retrospectively, I know you mentioned this somewhere but I couldnt find it

the behaviour seems a bit unpredictable here - (or is that just my understanding agin!)
With "Value-> Sub-items" ticked for "Projects",
If I tick "Projects" for an item, subitems are now ticked as well
If I untick it all are unticked, as expected
But,
if I tick the same item again, sub-items are NOT now selected...

[edit again]also when I add files as sub-items to an item ticked "Projects" they dont automatically get ticked[/edit again]

from the wiki
Value -> sub-items: Enables inheritence. If checked, if an item has a value in this field, sub-items will automatically inherit this value too. Users can change this inherited value if desired. Updates to the parent item will update all sub-items that have the same value as the parent (if you've changed an inherited value, it will be preserved)
I dont understand the part in bold -
"Updates" meaning refresh? That would mean retrospectively, hmm, dont think it's that.
It probably means, if I make parent XYZ children will be XYZ? and
referring to fields with info in them I guess, when that's changed it's changed in subitems as well ?

and cant figure this either - "if you've changed an inherited value, it will be preserved"

ehh,
going back to the filter bar...

Found a better solution
"Projects" is source
"FIN is null" shows files which arent ticked "FIN" (i.e. they're not finished/in progress)

I want to show "Projects" and ONLY files that have a "ChangeRequest" that arent "Changed"
So,
"Projects" and files ("file" ticked) where "ChangeRequest" is ticked AND "Changed" is not ticked
Projects and (file and ChangeRequest and Changed is null)
shows only main items which have been ticked Projects
doesnt show any subitems (should probably get "Projects" to apply to sub-items as well)

I've tried many other variations in Source and filter bar but cant quite get there...

BTW, this:
(file and ChangeRequest and Changed is null)        - pretty silly I guess to leave the brackets... :-\
caused this error:-
---------------------------
Run-time error '-2147024890 (80070006)':

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: ACRONYM database
« Last post by tomos on February 18, 2008, 03:28 PM »
Hello everyone, after a quite bit of work, AcroSuite is here, and with it comes some new features, which I think you all will enjoy.  For some reason the readme did not update despite the fact I edited it, I apologize and the next updated version will include it.  Also ahead of time I apologize for any lack of updates.  Ideas for AcroLiminator are very short at this point. But on to the program.

AcroSuite

You may ask, what is AcroSuite? And why isnt it AcroLiminator anymore?  AcroSuite, is the combination of the old what I considered unpopular tool, AcroDictionary, and AcroLiminator.  Why have 2 programs, one to change the acronyms, and one to look them up, why not 1 streamlined program?  Well AcroSuite now does that.  Along with it comes a few new cool features.  For example the tray menus, you will find 3 seperate tray menus, AcroLiminator, AcroDictionary, and Donate.  AcroLiminator, and AcroDictionary display submenus which allow you to perform various commands within the programs.  Donate, well of course it allows you to donate.  Please don't feel obliged to donate because of this, we believe this makes it easier on you, and puts the message of donating out there a bit more.  We do not require donations, and do not beg for them.  It is simply optional, and we will never make a dumbed down program for users that don't donate.  I apologize for rambling, its late and im tired hehe.  Anyways, on to the change log.

Change log
- Added AcroDictionary
- Renamed to AcroSuite
- Added organized tray menu with more menus
- Added help files
- Added more options in tray menu
- Added new icon

Also I plan to create a custom icon soon, so be prepared.  Well I believe this is it, so please give any feedback you can.  I hope to provide a bug report system in the next release, which I am aiming for, the keyword being aiming for, I do not guarantee anything, Next week around this time.  If you have any suggestions, please let me know, if you think its dumb, please still tell me.  A suggestion is often only dumb in the eyes of the one with the suggestion.  Anyways, feedback, and bug reports are gladly taken.  Thanks everyone!! :)

havent used it but go have a look at that thread and see what you think

sorry Armando, forgot to try that -
it works here but only saves what is selected in the grid -
if I'm in the html pane it simply saves contents of that

EDIT/ so to export the whole grid I select it all

Correct, Imagine a check box to the left of the field name. Check it to include the field in the filter
super, that way I can learn how to filter-speak at my leisure :-*

Ecco uses a similar kind of filter definition UI.

What I envision is something very similar to the forms manager with extra spaces to add AND, OR, etc and ( ).
So one would select the field, the value and operators

that looks good

What I had in mind - to make it even more accessible (e.g. to people who dont know about operators :) or cant figure them out) - if you had,
lets say you have a field with a tick box - show the tickbox - let me tick it ! and then this gets transcribed/translated to filter-speak on the search/filter bar
i.e. more of a GUI so-to-speak

the AND operator : the 3 fields must have something in them simultaneously. If that's not what you want, try using the OR operator (place it where you want it... can't help you with that).

hmm,
been messing around again following your advice,
"duration is not null"
shows items where duration is zero "0" as opposed to blank
Not sure why the duration is "0" but I can work with that...

Found a better solution
"Projects" is source
"FIN is null" shows files which arent ticked "FIN" (i.e. they're not finished/in progress)

EDIT/ Hi Pierre!
9865
or dragscreen as opposed to -queen?

going out the door in 10 mins so brief reply

as often think I wasnt clear enough
I want items with projects ticked
there are files which are sub-items - I only want to see ones with duration (they're there all right!)

Duration works kindof but it rules out other items which dont have duration

* that would be a great idea actually
a search/filter pane which shows all the fields - like in the properties pane,
you fill in what you want and it gets shown in the filter bar
So, in this case I'd tick my two fields and fill ">0" in duration field,
click "Find" or "Filter" and off

well... If you have 100s of fields (which is very possible), it might be a bit hard to use... But this is already pretty much possible anyways with the "source bar" (alt+s). Just write all the fields and terms you want (with the proper operators, symbols etc.) and bingo.

I disagree - about being hard to use - it could be exactly like the properties pane

You say:
>But this is already pretty much possible anyways with the "source bar" (alt+s). Just write all the fields and terms you want (with the proper operators, symbols etc.) and bingo.

That's my problem - I DONT :) find this easy - the opposite in fact, well source is okay but filters...

PS didnt notice the mistakes, runs out the door...

Thanks for those responses Armando,
It's only the first time I've got error #91, but I reckon I dont really use the programme like you ;)

Hey!
I just tried with a backup on my usb stick which was from previous day and it opened
I can now open the databases that wouldnt open
I had been changing colours and had actually made a copy before I changed them - neither file would then open so I thought I had screwed up things rightly, requiring re-install like you suggested

Thanks for the other answers too Armando,
with the find I'll experiment,
but I got the impression from that quote that maybe there was somewhere you could tick all the relevant fields,
e.g. as example I gave of ["File" and "Projects" boxes ticked and Duration>0] and that this would then show in the filter bar *
I tried doing that with the search box, for field I wrote: [Projects,Field,Duration>0] but that didnt work either-or maybe it did but I'm misunderstanding somewhere

In filter bar I've tried:
Projects and File and duration>0
Projects and File and (duration>0)

both coming up empty nada nix...

* that would be a great idea actually
a search/filter pane which shows all the fields - like in the properties pane,
you fill in what you want and it gets shown in the filter bar
So, in this case I'd tick my two fields and fill ">0" in duration field,

In my WorkDone/Billing grid (source "Projects") this:
File is null
- filters out the files (drawings)

How do I *include* files that have duration i.e. files I have worked on & recorded the time spent:-
Projects and (File and duration>0)
- doesnt work - filters out everything

You say in the wiki page about filters
Filter
The Filter filters the list of items. It can be edited directly, but it also can be set through the Search Form or Quick Search
is there any tips around how to use the Search function to do this?

and, just BTW:-
Saving Filters
Currently you can't named filters, but you can use the history drop-down box to select old filters. Also, Grid's will remember their filter so you can create a multiple Grids - each with its own Filter.
I dont have any drop down box here on the filters?
but if I remove filter text and then click on icon to deactivate filter the text returns (which is fine)

Amando, you mentioned error #91 somewhere
did you get any info on it?

I was changing the colours for a grid in options and you have to restart for them to take effect (sometimes anyways) and now it wont start,
well, it starts up but then I get

---------------------------
SQLNotes
---------------------------
Run-time error '91':

Object variable or With block variable not set
---------------------------
OK

and it crashes...

I've had that a couple of times - it's when I leave FARR running during the update, it gets closed down & I get that message
Didnt think anything of it cause no problems after

EDIT/ think it is normally closed down so plugins get reloaded on restart & for some reason there's a problem with that.
I've had problems lately with shutting down computer (hangs) and I'm not sure how to find the culprit - just mention it cause FARR still running at that stage :-\

Sorry to bother you folks, I've found my answer, DVI-D to DVI-D cable will work just fine.

is there a typo in there :)
I guess you mean a DVI to DVD adapter works fine...
It's good to read all that, thanks :) - could save me a bit of time when I finally go flatscreen (I've chosen one but of course it's very expensive :-\ so going to have to wait another little while)

hmmm,

eg as in your example

Did you type "," to start searching?

nope, that was the problem - didnt realise I had to type a comma at the end
