I've uploaded a new version in an attempt to fix the Quick Capture bar tooltips/hints so that they always show (I've also added current hotkeys to the hints).

It's a weird kludge that was requried, so let me know if you notice any problems.

If I leave SSC open and active on one monitor and capture a screen from the other monitor, SSC gets minimised for a very short period of time and then gets restored to its previous state - I can live with that.

like i said if you dont want SC to self-minimize temporarily, uncheck the option in the "Capture" tab.

I have SSC configured to minimise after a capture. However, if I already have SSC open and I capture another screenshot, I thought it would remain open but instead it gets minimised.

that's a bug -- it should leave sc back on the screen and visible if it was visible at the time of capture. 

can you download the latest version i've uploaded and see if it fixes the problem.

Note: by default SC is still configured to minimize before each capture (and should now be restored after if it was visible at time of capture).  If you want to make it so SC is left alone and doesn't minimize before a capture, that is an option on the "Capture" tab.

On further testing it looks like my fix for app's odd taskbar problem did in fact have a negative side effect -- if you triggered multiple captures in the post-capture form mode in quick succession, it could lead to a case where the post-capture form became invisible.

I've uploaded a new version now that should fix this.


Never mind, app says the original bug is back.. so you might as well hold off on testing for now.. sigh.

Just watching the video now -- it's such an impressive program.. it's rather humbling to think it was coded by just a couple of people -- by all appearances it seems like a commercial tool produced by a large team of pro coders.

right, ok to summarize your results, if i understand them -- the larger "incorrect" capture happens not when you grab the current screen but when you capture the active window and it happens to be maximized.  i think that's something to do with applications that are maximized reporting larger-than-monitor sizes when maximized.  i could add an option to try to correct that..

Another observation: If I leave SSC open, it minimises (I have it set to minimise after capture) but I would have liked to see it stay open.

im not sure i understand -- you have chosen the option to minimize after capture but you want it to stay open.. then why not choose the option to not-minimize after capture?

or do you mean it always minimized BEFORE performing a capture and you don't want it to do that?

I had assumed that since placing the box the yellow resizing circles are present, that I would be able to hover over the circles of the object just placed and be able to resize it.

hmm i see what you mean, that is a bit confusing.  i'm not sure i can fix it to let you modify those when you have that option.  but perhaps what i can do is make escape switch you into object edit mode first, rather than directly into normal region select mode.  in that way you could at least hit escape to start modifying locations.

I just tried a screen capture on my second monitor and I noticed that on the left hand side there are around 7 pixels from the first monitor.  Similarly if I capture the first monitor it has a few pixels from the left screen.

are you doing a "screen" capture, or an active window capture of a maximized window?

As you know Screenshot Captor now has built-in support for some image hosting sites (ImageShack, img.io) and also supports the third party open source ShareX uploader, but it's always great to have additional tools to support additional sites, and I know Imgur is a popular site, so this is excellent.

hi joby.

the border includes parts of the main app.

This is a known and low-priority issue that happens when you are trying to capture a semi-transparent window which is a child window in front of a main form.  Basically the parent form refuses to get out of the way to let SC figure out the background transparency.

I may have a look at the issue again sometime in the future.

Thank you for posting Kim -- I think it says something about the company that you saw this post and took the time to register and reply.

I actually thought it might be something to do with cache settings and tried a ton of them with no luck.  Then I installed the new version (which is a paid upgrade that I haven't yet purchased) in hopes that that would solve the problem, but no luck.

The crazy thing is that it's been working well for quite a while and I don't know what suddenly caused this trouble -- the only thing I can think of is that I replaced and cloned the hard disk that holds the downloaded backup files and maybe that confused it into thinking the files needed to be redownloaded.

Thinking that might be it I let it redownload a 100 gb of files, but it was never satisfied and each night it wanted to re-download the same 100gb over again..


HOWEVER, I believe it is now working -- and I'll show you the option that I set that seems to have made the difference:


I don't know if that option spontaneously unchecked -- or more likely that what's happened is something went wrong making the program think the files have changed, and without that option it can't verify that without redownloading them..

Regardless, for now all seems to be working well again.  I will report if it happens again -- and if anyone else has the same problem they should check out that option.

In the popup after a screenshot is made, if you select "Save image but hide" the popup minimizes itself to the taskbar and can not be closed.

This bug did not afflict me but if anyone else was suffering from it, hopefully the new version fixes it.
(and does not introduce new bugs).

I think Screenshot Captor has earned it's stripes and deserves a promotion to version 4.0.
