That is very odd.. So we're talking about that black 1-pixel high line on the very bottom of the screenshot?
And you're saying that's not something that is in your actual image at the time of capture -- and that it spontaneously appears when you add the square/circle highlight annotations?

I am not unable to reproduce it here -- can you walk me through the process that leads to it, and give me some more details about when it appears and any clues you can discover about what triggers it?

Anyone else seen this happen to them?

yeah i think the solution is to let people have some control over the filename from the postcapture dialog, so ill put that at the top of my todo list.  that should let you do what you want.

That's great news that you can reproduce -- that should help me solve it if you continue to be willing to test.
Can you test the same kind of actions but using the File->Delete menus instead if the delete key? And let me know if you can get it to crash when you use those delete items on the menu, or if it only happens when using the delete key.

Hi Ian.

Can you tell me in what manner you deleted the files? did you select them and hit the delete key, or use right click menu, or use the File -> Delete selected item.  What Operating System do you have?

Can you reliably reproduce the problem? Any clues you could give me as to when it happens and when it doesn't would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the post joby.  I didn't realize the RtColorPicker component was saving a registry key -- SC isn't asking it to do so so let me see if i can disable that or replace the component.  As for ColorCop, let me look into it -- i don't care either way and perhaps it shouldn't be included at all..

What you want can't be done yet.. but I will try to add it.

The only quick tip to remind you of as a workaround is that to quickly rename the current file from the main window just change the filename in the filename edit field at the very bottom and hit enter.

So your question is about auto-naming the file right? You want the FILENAME to contain the custom comment you type into the post-capture dialog, is that right? (that's not currently possible but it's something i could try to add).

Or is there something else you're trying to do as well?
