probably part of why some diets suggest frying your food in vinegar instead of oil/whatever-f0dder (June 09, 2008, 06:13 PM)
mind you they used to "boil" people in oil in the good old days, so why not fry them in vinegar
] ?but i'm glad you found a better more general solution regarding shortcuts vs. exe files.
Another REALLY IMPORTANT thing for people to remember:
FARR gives a big bonus to any program as soon as you launch it once. so if the file you want to launch comes up not quite first place on your initial search -- it's very likely that after you launch it once, it will be at the top next time, and forever after, without you needing to take any corrective action. it will also be found much quicker next time because it is in the FARR history cache.-mouser (June 08, 2008, 08:22 AM)

so go check out that tab to see what your scoring patterns look like.okay,-mouser (June 08, 2008, 07:53 AM)
i think your problem may be in a misunderstanding of how this is working.--mouser (June 08, 2008, 07:53 AM)

don't worry about me, i more or less have got comfortable with the way i have set-up Farr. that's why i hadn't the need to change the heuristics scoring. but since the option is already available, i suggest you fiddle with it until you are happy with it.

no, just tried it without & the open dialog box does take a second to fill (sometimes more, some less) - it seems to freeze and then suddenly populates the box

Tomos: I've been looking at where my power disappears to lately, and I was a little shocked to find out that my computer uses 11W even when it is turned off and powered down!! Not sure when the term Vampire Power was crated, but I was shocked to find some lurking in my home! But one whole power plant seems a lot?? I now turn my stuff off at the wall.-Perry Mowbray (June 08, 2008, 06:52 AM)

Just replied to both, Tom. No problems from end of things. Note that Don has already replied to your question - there is not yet a file comparison tool built into XYPlorer, but it is easy to set it up to use a 3rd party app. Don suggests you take a look at WinMerge and points to a thread discussing setting this all up: http://www.xyplorer....ic.php?p=22136#22136-Darwin (June 06, 2008, 10:46 AM)
| Thanks Don for very quick reply! yes, I had seen that thread Would still be very interested in the "same or not" option [a simple "same or not" function]- thing is, I'm no advanced user & also am not working with text files, so seeing the actual differences doesnt interest me so much as simply knowing if the files are the same or not thanks, Tom |
Maybe I should just ask DonL seeing as I have XYPlorer liscence...
Please do. I have a license too, and would like to know if that sort of feature is available or planned.-rjbull (June 06, 2008, 03:52 AM)
