Well, that's fine for the folks that DON'T live in the U.S., but what about the folks that do?

Well, I suppose you can just get used to the idea of prison. :P

BTW.  DAMN you answered that fast.  lol

I was taking a bit of a break from work and checked DC just at the right time! :D

But, back to work now...

Hell, I thought you were sitting on the keyboard!   ;)

... but from what I understand the U.S. outlawed it years ago.

I don't think so: Amazon

It'll probably be on some enforcement agency watchlist - actually, it's probably on Amazon so it makes the job easier for the FBI/CIA/ASGA1, and as Renegade has said it's been available online for over 30 years, (I downloaded it off a BBS back in the early 80's).

I have an interest in this kind of stuff, (I got a Shotfirer License just because I was interested), no doubt I appear on some database of people who know how to mix things that go boom.

1.  Alphabet Soup Government Agency

Ah yes, I remember now.  Anyone ordering/reading this book would be put on the FBI watch-list.  This happened sometime in the 90's I do believe.

I already know I'm on the watch-list because that's what I did in the military for over 20 years, worked on things that went "BOOM!".  :o

Yep, just another example of the Police State we live in now.....

I've always wanted a copy of the Anarchist Cookbook just for curiosity, but from what I understand the U.S. outlawed it years ago.  Is that true?  And if it is, should you be advertising that you have it?  You know damned well all the post on this forum are being scanned and archived......

The Anarchist Cookbook has been available in text form online since before the Internet was around (I had a digital copy before I bought the physical copy). It's really just an interesting read, but the "science" in it isn't really all that great, so you're likely to hurt yourself if you try playing around with its recipes. Hence, it's just an interesting read.

As for "confessing" that I have a copy, well, meh. Whatever. I've said more controversial things, and posted material much more dangerous to the police state. Here's one example that would certainly place me in a lot more hot water than the Anarchist Cookbook:

Frackin’ Reserve – “How” Fractional Reserve Banking Creates Money and “Why” it is Fraudulent (3/6)

In there I detail exactly how and why your government and my government is guilty of criminal fraud. That makes me "guilty of sedition". And damn proud of it too.

Well, that's fine for the folks that DON'T live in the U.S., but what about the folks that do?

BTW.  DAMN you answered that fast.  lol

Living Room / Re: It's about ... why is the left seat the command seat?
« Last post by Tinman57 on December 08, 2012, 07:16 PM »
LOL!   I can still remember this question from ground school and flight training.  The pilot sits on the left seat because the default air-traffic pattern is left, therefore the pilot can see the runway better on the downwind leg of the pattern.

So, if the active runway is North (0 degrees), you would enter the traffic pattern from a 45 degree angle to the North from the east, and then turn North when approx 1/4 mile from the runway (a lot depends there), putting the runway parallel to the aircraft to the pilots left.  The pilot then has a good reference to the runway for turning "Base" and then turning to "Final" approach, and also gives him/her a better view of other air traffic.

Edit:  I changed the second line to read "North from the east" from "North from the west".  Got it bass-ackwards.  lol

The conspiracy nut/pessimist in me says that there will be "pressure" or "incentives" for DRs to go back to the old days of over-prescribing addictive drugs....

A sore back?  Have 6 months worth of Vicodin.

A little trouble sleeping?  Valium for you and your whole family.

Seems that most doctors now days are under-prescribing opiate drugs for fear of lawsuits.  Whatever happened to the idea of relieving pain and suffering?  There was a tv special that I saw that was about that very subject.
Where I see the good about this new drug is for the people that are recovering from problems with severe pain.  But the $1000 a month cost is just ridiculous, and I don't know if the insurance companies are going to pay and tell them to use the old fashioned way of weening.

Security: Duh... Cameras embed EXIF data.
Law: Oh god...
Ego: This is just funny!
Patheticness: Hacker? God... It's called looking at EXIF data...

Meh... Whatever. This whole McAfee thing is just one long string of laughs! :P

I learned a long time ago to remove the EXIF and any other exorbitant data from my pictures with a freebie called JPg Cleaner 95, for no other reason than it makes the file smaller and saves drive space.

I'm still pondering how they're going to settle this with the federal government.  I will assume the feds will blackmail them into submission like they did Texas over the legal age of drinking.  When the government made it so you had to be 21, Texas said "If your old enough to fight in a war, your old enough to drink" and left it at 18.  The feds (illegally) threatened to withhold federal highway funds unless Texas changed it to 21, and they caved in.....

A new prescription to treat prescription drug abuse
Prescription drugs have arguably become more dangerous to addicts than street drugs. The pharmaceutical industry may have uncovered a treatment that reduces dependence by restoring the functions that opioids disrupt.

Living Room / Re: 3D Printing Under Attack
« Last post by Tinman57 on December 04, 2012, 07:00 PM »

Time to start printing handguns.

Oh, wait...

The truth is that it is much cheaper and more effective to just buy a real gun. 3D printed guns right now aren't comparable to hundreds of years of gunsmith engineering. So 3D gun plans & printing really have no significant effect on anything. Except for paranoid governments that don't understand tech. Oh, wait. That's all of them~! :P

But really - I think it's great having that info out there. It gives the govt's 1 more reason to be afraid of the people, which is the way it should be, and not like it is now with people being afraid of their govt's.

The results of Wiki Weapons gun testing

The first run of testing a 3D-printed gun wasn't flawless but it wasn't a complete failure either.

General Software Discussion / Re: Pirate Software Dilemma
« Last post by Tinman57 on December 02, 2012, 07:27 PM »
First off, I do own a license for an older version of the software and have the means to purchase an "upgrade". I wish I could stay with the version I have but it doesn't supports newer pdfs made by various free pdf printers.

The problem is that the company no longer offers the version I want. They want you to purchase the "latest" version which isn't to my liking (bloated and no longer portable). They "upgraded" the version to an "Advanced" edition and no longer offer the basic.

Only pirate sites offer the older version (but newer than the one I own) of the software that I need.

The software in question is Foxit PDF Editor. It's a nice simple portable editor that allows me to do basic functions edit/deleting/modifying pdf pages.

What to do? :'( :-\

This seems to be the norm for software now day, which is why I say "Thank god for hackers".
Have you looked at PDF Xchange Viewer yet?  I dumped Foxit in favor of it.

Living Room / Re: Folder properties
« Last post by Tinman57 on December 02, 2012, 06:43 PM »
To work around this issue, use the Attrib command at a command prompt (Cmd.exe) to view or remove the Read-only or System attributes of folders. Type attrib /? at the command prompt to view the syntax for the Attrib command.

Warning If you remove the Read-only or System attribute from a folder, it may appear as a ordinary folder and some customizations may be lost. For example, Windows customizes the Fonts folder and provides a special folder view that permits you to hide variations, such as bold and italic. It also permits you to change the folder's view settings in ways that are specific to fonts. If you remove the Read-only and System attributes of the Fonts folder, these customized view settings are not available. For folders that you have customized by using the Customize tab of the folder's Properties dialog box, the folder icon and other other customizations may be lost when you remove the Read-only attribute.

If a program cannot save files to a folder with the Read-only attribute, such as My Documents, change the Read-only attribute to System by using the Attrib command at a command prompt.

For example, to change the Read-only attribute to System for the C:\Test folder, use the following command:
attrib -r +s c:\test
Note that some programs may not operate correctly with folders that have the System attribute set. To remove both the Read-only and System attributes from the C:\Test folder, use the following command:
attrib -r -s c:\test

There is also a program called Properties Plus that may set the attribs without having to do it manually.

So what are you saying, you married him for his looks?   ;D  You are very correct about diabetes, when my blood sugar level gets too high or too low, I can't think any better than a 2 year old.  (Now just wait for the jokes to start flowing.)

I am not referring to the temporary stupid that you get with the occasional spikes & dips, where as soon as your blood sugar returns to normal, you return to normal. I am talking about what happens when it goes untreated and your blood sugar is chronically too high. It causes permanent non-reversible damage to your memory and cognitive abilities, which in my husband's case, kind of mimics a cross between the very early stage of Alzheimer's (which some scientists now nickname Diabetes type 3) and ADD.

Diabetes is a horrible disease.  When you go a long time with your BSL too high you start losing your limbs or worse, your internal organs start shutting down.  An old family friend of mine lost both of his legs to diabetes.  My mom has the "Type 3" symptoms.  Her reasoning, problem solving, and decision making skills are not so good to say the least.  She had diabetes for years before she finally went to the doctor.  Did your husband know he had diabetes during this time?

My cell phone memory card is smaller than my thumb-nail and holds 16Gb.  That's a whole lot of information that can be stored, especially if stored in a text format.

True enough, but I'm thinking about the cost. Would they spend the extra? It's not the size so much as the $$$.

Samsung makes their own chips.  They can make chips for pennies for their own use, but cost a butt-load for us to buy.

I am the wife of a clueless idiot who couldn't remember the pin number for his debit card, has no clue who the beneficiary of his life insurance policy is (we still don't know if it is me, his ex-wife, or his sister because he still refuses to pay $20 to find out), needs someone else to navigate phone menus for him, needs someone else to fill out job applications for him, etc. And the call to the lawyer after the car accident was almost funny enough to make the lawyer cry, till I took the phone out of his hand and talked to the lawyer myself. That lawyer must think he suffered brain trauma in the accident.

By the way, if you have been feeling tired, thirsty, and forgetful lately, have any sort of tingling in your hands or feet, and people you know are beginning to think you lost half your brain cells in the last few years, get checked for Type 2 Diabetes. High blood sugar really can do a number on your brain if you don't take care of it.

So what are you saying, you married him for his looks?   ;D  You are very correct about diabetes, when my blood sugar level gets too high or too low, I can't think any better than a 2 year old.  (Now just wait for the jokes to start flowing.)

I somehow doubt that anyone would invest in enough memory to make it remotely useful like that. However, I've seen crazier stuff with lots of evidence to back it up. Stuff so crazy that no matter how much evidence there is, I'm still baffled at it.)

Oh yeah ... This was the third trip through the scanners ... Nobody had noticed the blade on the first two trips.

I had a similar situation one time going through airport security.

I was on my way from Seoul to Hong Kong to visit my sister, aunt and uncle. I quickly packed, as usual, grabbed my laptop bag, threw my laptop into it, and headed to the airport. Flew to Hong Kong, had a nice visit, and went to the airport to fly back.

I was stopped at security for having a small Swiss Army knife in my laptop bag. I'd completely forgotten about it when I left, and they missed it at security in Seoul (or they didn't care as it was quite small - the blade was just over an inch or so, and certainly less than 2 inches). They wanted to keep it, but it had sentimental value as it was a gift. I asked how I could keep it, and they put it in a bag, sent it around security, and I picked it up in Seoul.
And then there's people like me that gets caught in Okinawa with a clip of high powered rifle rounds with tracers in my duffle-bag because my dumb-ass ex-wife put them in there.  They didn't get discovered in the states in the 3 airports I went through to get there.....

She wanted me to mention that she will be selling custom drawings (You request it, she draws it)

Prices will be depending on detail/size, but are generally very low priced.  Also major discounts on her usual fee's due to the Christmas Period :)

If anybody wants anything, let me know via PM and we can sort it out.  I will always try to include postage in with any quotes (Unless you ONLY want the digital version)

All drawings are ONE-OFF (IE: She will never re-use that image for resale) - The only other place she will show them, is in her portfolio (Can opt-out of this for no extra charge)  :D

"Also major discounts on her usual fee's due to the Christmas Period"!!!  BWAHAHAHAHA!!!  Oh god, almost fell out of my chair.  ;)  I know that's not what you meant, but it was hilarious.  hehehe

BTW, the female Dr. Who is HOT!!!  Your girlfriend is quite talented.

Printers manufactured by Samsung have a backdoor administrator account hard coded in their firmware that could enable attackers to change their configuration, read their network information or stored credentials and access sensitive information passed to them by users.
