There are a few nice discussions on the forum about different clipboard "enhancers". One of my favorite is dominated by allen  ;) with some great reflections.

Thanks! I'll write that down...  :)

I tend to agree with you... at the same time I guess that many programmer with extended experience can probably form an opinion quicker -- especially regarding simple problems/theories/hypothesis -- without the need to spend to much time analyzing. Of course, such "quickness" can also be a trap (during my PhD studies, I've seen so many very capable intellectuals critiquing theories or hypothesis without really trying to deeply understand the whole thing before... Basically, they thought they just "knew" and, more often then not... they were wrong! In this article's case, it's probably a bit different though...)  :)

Regarding this blog post : maybe one should keep in mind that the author seems to have done his experiment just for the sake of curiosity, not to bash a specific language or anything...mean. He also stated that :

I emphasise [sic] once again that I have carefully indicated in the original post that this is but one of many possible microbenchmarks and that you should treat the results as one of many data points. [...] This post compares performance across various languages for a specific micro benchmark (actually it isn’t really a microbenchmark - it is simply a benchmark for a specific piece of logic - but thats [sic] the closest word I could think of).

But that doesn't make it more interesting, of course...

I'll try that. Thanks jpijper!
I was just wondering why the "automatic" update would fail...

Interesting thread. We had a few discussions about backup in the past -- of course, not necessarily about tslim's requirements, specifically. Here's one : https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=1999.0

Ahahaha! I just saw that. Thanks for caring!
Cuba was very very very interesting and beautiful. Especially Havana and Trinidad. Ok, the beach was nice too...  :P
Fay was no more than a big tropical storm. We got some water coming down the ceiling -- but, hey, this happened a few times in my Montreal apartment too... so... ;D

OK. Thanks for the advices guys. It seems pretty reasonable.
So I'll try reinstalling my drivers -- something I'm always a bit afraid to do... I often experienced severe problems when tinkering with video cards drivers.
DriverCleaner is trustworthy?

Same amount of forum posts again...

Yes, ACT has lots of potential. The website mentioned above gives some good info. This one too : http://www.actmindfu...;_commitment_therapy

There are also a few good very accessible and pragmatic books on the subject, like The happiness trap (with the excellent website accompanying the book's content : http://www.thehappinesstrap.com/) and Get Out of Your Mind and Into Your Life. Most of the good ACT books are mentioned here, on the "happiness trap" website.

This ACT stuff seems to have a lot in common with Jill Bolte Taylor's reflections, and other thinker/researchers studying-practicing mindfulness and/or other related path/ideas (like Jon Kabat-Zinn).

General Software Discussion / Graphics corruption -- Why?
« Last post by Armando on August 24, 2008, 08:20 PM »
Often, after resuming from standby I get that kind of graphics corruption :

- for windows buttons

Screenshot - 2008-08-24 , 21_03_37.jpg

- in firefox, only in certain web pages

Screenshot - 2008-08-24 , 21_04_53.jpg

Refreshing the web page will not clear graphics problems.
As for the garbled windows buttons, I have to reapply my custom theme to get my windows buttons back.

Any ideas of why these graphics problems occur? It's been going on for a while and, unfortunately, I can't really remember when it started.  :-[

Try maybe this one:
http://www.latexeditor.org/

It requires some "coding" but it was real pleasure to learn the syntax with it. I  remember how I was pissed that I found this little guy AFTER I wrote my thesis using "Win-something" shareware ;) LED is the best LaTeX editor I've ever used.
-fenixproductions (August 22, 2008, 06:23 PM)

I downloaded latexeditor after I read your post. I'm just beginning to explore it and already I'm impressed.

Excellent find. Thanks for sharing it!

Ditto. An interesting program.

brotherS : Do you know about Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) -- closely related to mindfulness approaches? it is a very interesting approach in psychology. You might like the approach, if you enjoyed Jill Taylor's conference and book.

Find And Run Robot / Re: FARR alias: Quick Outlook Task
« Last post by Armando on August 23, 2008, 11:14 AM »
Just came back from a 2 weeks break and slowly going through all my "new" emails... 320.  :'(
On the bright side, running DcUpdater, I noticed several fun software updates.
But with QuickOutlookTask (in DcUpdater) the updating process seems to "freeze" at the end of the download, giving me and endless "retrieving update"... . Anybody else having this problem?
(I did slightly modify the QuickOutlookTask.alias file in the QuickOutlookTask folder... could this be the culprit?)

I am not able to get GridMove to work! The first time I run it, the program freezes after I click "OK" on the info box about tooltips. The .ini file is created and so is an empty plugins directory. When I run the script after windows kills it, I get the GridMove tray icon. However it is not clickable and none of the functions of GridMove work. Same thing happens after deleting the newly created files.

I am running the latest version of GridMove on Windows XP. I also have the
I was having the same problem before I check the "Turn off advanced text services for this program"[right click the GridMove.exe and goto Compatibility tab]
Now I am using GridMove and like it a lot.  :-*

Thank you jgpaiva.

I found out that if you put your category names (and any data for any field, actually) between quotes, it allows spaces.
