UrlSnooper / Re: Can't sniff station URLs at www.tangocity.com
« Last post by mouser on August 22, 2013, 10:59 AM »
PDF files won't display inline here in your posts, you'd have to post them as images for us to see.
One thing you could try, to show more URLs is in advanced mode, set the Protocol Filter to "Show ALL" instead of the default of "Multimedia URLs".

Hi Oriole,

Sorry for the delay in replying.. The help file is a little out of date, but nothing important has changed.  To get to advanced mode you just click on "Advanced mode" from the File menu.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Reset to defaults
« Last post by mouser on August 22, 2013, 10:43 AM »
On windows vista/7/8, for installed version, the ClipboardHelpAndSpell.ini file, as well as database files, should be in your documents folder in a subdirectory ApplicationData\DontionCoder\ClipboardHelpAndSpell, or something to that effect.

Exit CHS, delete those files, and restart and you'll have reset all settings.

Find And Run Robot / Re: problem about Unicode support

I'm afraid FARR does not have full unicode support, and it's not likely to be added anytime soon.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Launch, stay open and continue searching
« Last post by mouser on August 22, 2013, 09:28 AM »
There is a small annoyance on this Ctrl dbl click because some applications will also detect the CTRL key for other purposes.

On the keyboard options tab you can change the ctrl/alt behaviors -- you could change it so that ALT was for launch and stay open.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Amazon conifguration

Nod5 gave a good suggestion, however, the Amazon alias is included with default FARR aliases, in the Core-shopping alias, so you should have it already by default if you use the default FARR installation.

Actually now that i see your question.. i haven't tried showing favorites on root of quick paste menu so i have to go check that out and see how it interacts with the other quick paste options.

LaunchBar Commander / Re: Launchbar Commander still "Stealing Focus"
« Last post by mouser on August 20, 2013, 07:41 PM »
Well let's remember, you aren't the ONLY one suffering this -- others have reported it.
And I know from experience for every 1 person that takes the time to report it, 10 or 20 or 200 more have the problem and just uninstall rather than report it.
So I *would* like to get to the bottom of this now if you're willing to help me track it down while it's still fresh in our minds.

LaunchBar Commander / Re: Launchbar Commander still "Stealing Focus"
« Last post by mouser on August 20, 2013, 02:29 PM »
Thank you for the detailed description.

I have reproduced all your settings and cannot get the problem to occur here.  I don't know what that means but it sure is strange.  SOMETHING must be different on your end that is causing this, but it's not clear what..

Anyway, I guess we're going to have to try a different approach to tracking this down..

I appreciate that the old versions didn't have this problem, but then -- did the old versions have the "Keep LaunchBars on top option at all?

Which actually brings me to an important question:

If disabling the "keep launchbars on top" option solves this focus stealing problem for you, why not just uncheck that option?  What does that option get you that you need?  My memory is that i only added it because the AUTOHIDING launchbars were falling BELOW other windows -- something that shouldn't happen if you have them reserving space on your desktop as you do?

One other thing you could do is, we know the problem is definitely related to LBC based on your tests, but is it possible you have some additional odd desktop utility which is interacting with it, causing this?  Might you try killing off any other weird utilities and see if it makes a difference?

Also, email me ([email protected]) and i'm going to send you some debug versions and we can see if we can track this sucker down and at least figure out where lbc is misbehaving..

i suppose the really low tech solution would be.. plain white round stickers you could write on.

when you think about it.. kind of obvious solution that would work pretty well isn't it..

sigh, sometimes you have to step back and ask yourself, are we just inventing gadgets for the sake of creating high-tech inferior solutions that are different just because we want something new and fancy, when the low-tech solution is clearly better?

General Software Discussion / Re: Replacing the Control Panel

Another interesting idea would be to let LaunchBar Commander show the contents of FARR alias files directly in menus..  That would let LBC show a proper control panel menu..

General Software Discussion / Re: Replacing the Control Panel
« Last post by mouser on August 20, 2013, 06:37 AM »
DC member Josh actually spent some time figuring out how to invoke control panel stuff for the creation of an alias for my Find and Run Robot (FARR) tool.

One of the interesting things he figured out was differences between winxp and win7/8.

Here are the contents of the cpanel alias file included with FARR.  I think you'll be able to see the different commands and how they are invoked:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Legacy" ?>
<!-- This file defines aliases for use by the Find and Run Robot program (https://www.donationcoder.com/Software/Mouser/findrun/index.html). -->

The other thing josh did was assemble/extract icon files for each of the control panel items.

You can find all of the .ico files as well as the .alias files above, in the AliasGroups/Installed/Core_Aliases/cpanel directory of your FARR install.

All credit to Josh who did the hard work.

LaunchBar Commander / Re: An idea for a "Toggled App" button -- thoughts?
« Last post by mouser on August 20, 2013, 03:24 AM »
well this wouldn't be the default action, this would only be set up manually by user for certain kinds of apps.  so presumably you wouldn't use it in cases where it could have potential to cause problems.

LaunchBar Commander / An idea for a "Toggled App" button -- thoughts?
« Last post by mouser on August 20, 2013, 03:00 AM »
I was thinking of adding a new kind of command button for launchbars, a "Toggled App" button.

It would work like this:

You set up a button for an application, let's say "Firefox.exe".

When you press the button, LBC would start firefox if it's not already running, or terminate it if it is already running.

We would probably want some kind of option to change the way the button looks based on whether it's running or not.. Like gray out the icon if it's (not) running..

Useful or no? I suppose that, except for the graying out, one could already do this by using a standalone commandline utility to run or terminate another executable based on whether it's already running (that's a nice idea for a little coding snack).

Found Deals and Discounts / Re: why would you want to buy PowerDesk?

Powerdesk was *THE* explorer replacement at one time.. It was a great tool.  They just stopped developing it and others eventually surpassed them.
