LaunchBar Commander / Re: Show us your LaunchBar Commander Screenshots
« Last post by mouser on August 23, 2013, 02:55 PM »
Someone, I forget who, send me their LaunchBar config, and it was a really nice text-only dock that was short and docked at the top of the screen.  Basically it was like a menubar filled with custom menu items.  Very nice.

I need to update my screenshot.

I used to have LBC always visible, full height, reserving space at the side of my screen.

Now I have my dock set to auto-slide out of the way, and non-full height, which i was initially skeptical about, but now love.  Highly recommended.

Note that I have enabled the option to add extra space at start and end of dock, which is what those blank areas are at the top and bottom of the dock.

It's easy to see why a royalty payment wouldn't be attractive to a narrator of a first book by an unknown author..
And easy to see why you can't afford to pay for such services.

Well, keep Aaron in mind for book two, and concentrate on finding a volunteer who can work for little or no money.

Hmm.. I'll have to look into this.. In general, SC is not really designed to not save changes and still do things like copy the image to the clipboard, so you are really pushing the envelope by wanting to make changes, copy to clipboard, while never saving.

I try to encourage people to give in to the workflow of letting SC save images, and just delete them later.  You can easily delete all images in the Screenshot directory from the file menu.  Saving the files for a short period gives you a safety net.

Listened to the audio.  That was *VERY* *VERY* good -- shockingly good.

I listen to a LOT of audio books, and I was not expecting anything nearly so professional sounding.

If he can do a few different character voices, I'd say you can call of the search for a narrator right now.

Ok found the problem, all printing will now share the same print preview options (margins, etc.); fixed in new beta coming out this weekend.

one of the tests of an audiobook narrator is being able to do different voices.. it can't be easy.  that may be where the rubber hits the road.

maybe we can help choose between them -- are there audio samples?
9059
Yes you are correct of course, this is a silly bug that's been in place for far too long.  time to fix.

What if i just made the "Separator String" edit box a combo box where you could type in something custom (and it would be remembered), or you could select from some presets like ("\n" or ",")?

Interesting ideas.. let me consider..  i'm definitely open to the idea of supporting more ways of exporting if there is some consensus about which export options would be most useful.

Edit:

I forgot I already added an export feature, it's in the file menu.  Sigh sometimes i wonder how i find my feet in the morning.

I just don't know enough about using multiple dictionary files to talk intelligently about them.
I use the Addict Spell Check library to manage all of the spelling stuff.  You can read more about it's use of multiple dictionaries here:
http://www.addictive.../ed-dictionaries.htm

So the DICTIONARYDIR variable i just added to the ConfigDir.ini tells the spell checker to look in this directory for additional dictionaries.  I think that means it should show them in the Spelling Options as "Additional Dictionaries" that are now available.

Now it may only make those available for read-access as additional dictionaries, and insist that the actually modifications be done in an exclusive dictionary file -- or it may let you then choose a dictionary in that directory to use as the one to add to, i'm just not sure.  And I also don't know if it locks it during changes -- but I would not be surprised if it does not lock it, and if it will let you share it and modify it and only lock it during short periods of changes.  But I don't know for sure.

I also don't know what other programs you might have that also use this dictionary format (while this library can READ the Microsoft Office dictionary, it will not modify it).

I will add support for specifying multiple ; separated directories with DICTIONARYDIR.  But you will still have to go to spell options in CHS to enable the dictionaries you want to use i believe.
9064
If you want to experiment (and i emphasize "experiment") because i'm not sure this will work, try adding a line to your ConfigDir.ini that says:
DICTIONARYDIR = put_full_path_to_another_app_directory_containing_your_other_custom.adu

and then see if it shows up in your chs spell configuration list of dictionaries available.

9065
Ha, you're right, those do make CHS crash!
Weird. I shall fix.

What operating system?  Are you using the portable version or the normal version that uses an installer?
9067

for all of my programs, if you edit a file called ConfigDir.ini in the application directory, you can override the default configuration directory of any of my programs.  So if you want them somewhere else, just copy the sample ConfigDir and make a ConfigDir.ini with the config directory you want.

Cool thing is, if someone buys at $0.90 from my blog, I still get more than I'd get if they paid $0.99 to Amazon.

but then again, a purchase from your blog won't ever lead to an amazon review, or amazon.com stats, which might help you sell more, etc.  might be a double-edged sword.

Right now there is no set limit and it should be able to support as large a database as you can throw at it.
I really need to add an export feature, which I will move up on my todo list.
9072
Sorry for the delayed reply!

Ok good questions.. You've basically found a problem with CHS spelling dictionary storage.  I'm going to try to fix it now so that they are stored in the same directory as the configuration settings are.  Stay tuned for beta version.

As for sharing custom dictionaries.. i don't know what potential problems it might cause, so let me do this in two steps, first having them at least read from the proper directory.

« Last post by mouser on August 22, 2013, 11:08 AM »
Unfortunately there is a functional limit to the size of the text clips that the program can capture in the current version.
But i'll see if i can't make it significantly larger.

Ok look's like i can pretty easily go from 10k limit to 1mb limit without any issue that I can see, so that will be relaxed in next release.
9074
Glad you got it working.

However, as Tomos points out, if CHS is ever crashing, then that's a bug in the program I'd like to fix -- so let me know if you've figured out a way to make the program crash!

I'm afraid if it's not showing your network adapter, it's out of my hands.
