Mouser's Zone / Re: Polish letters
« Last post by mouser on September 01, 2013, 06:43 PM »
Right, ok so i'm afraid i have some bad news, which is that FARR does not support unicode, and is unlikely to in the near future.

That means that it can support extended character sets which are represented within the standard ascii set of the locale, but cannot support the full range of letters used by some languages.

So if you need to be able to represent those characters, i'm afraid you will have to find another application other than FARR.  Sorry :(

Oh, here is an important question:

You say you can't enter them with Alt+Letter, but that may be because the hotkeys are being intercepted.

Can you try this for me, in notepad, generate a set of your letters, and then try to copy and paste into farr search, and tell me how that works.

The goal here is to figure out if farr behaves the way you need EXCEPT for being able to generate the letters with alt+Letter, or if the problem is deeper.

This is one of those questions that comes over and over, and there should be a really clear easy tutorial and recommended service for it.

It would be nice to have a tutorial for newbies on how to do it.

There should be one out there on the web somewhere, otherwise it would be a nice little project for someone to write up.

Any software that runs on any operating system/device that is not Microsoft Windows desktop operating system is suitable for discussion in this section (even if it also runs on Windows desktop).

Sorry for the delayed response.

It's actually very important to me to ensure that network-paths work as well as they possibly can in Screenshot Captor.

But because i don't use such network paths myself, it's sometimes difficult for me to test stuff or understand the problems people are having.

Can you try to experiment a bit and break down for me as much as you can the precise problems you (and others?) are seeing?  If there are multiple issues let's try to tease them apart and make them as specific as possible, so i can focus on them one at a time.

And please make sure you are using the latest beta release for testing, download here:
https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=35886.0

Specifically, note that the beta does include a fix for network paths -- maybe that addresses the issues you are seeing.

Last note: If paths are being "reset" by Screenshot Captor, it probably means that the program is concluding that the path does not exist or is not accessible.  That could be a bug, or it could be that the network share is not connected at SC startup time? First we have to figure out the scenario, then I can try to fix the program to accomodate it.

Here's how you would do it with current version:

  • Select the text in the current clip you want to use, hit Ctrl+C to copy it to clipboard.
  • Hit the leftmost button icon (white page with plus on it) on the toolbar to create a new clip.
  • Hit Ctrl+V to paste the copied text into the new clip.

Note also that if you just want to CHANGE the current clip and edit it, you may do so freely in that edit memo -- any changes you make their will be saved to the existing clip.

ewemoa was explaining this to me and i didn't get it until i tried it, but i must admit it is useful.
I've been using SmartGit client.

For those who don't know what we're talking about, it's this:

Traditionally with a version control system, you might make some changes to various files in your project, then you commit them as a set, and add a short description of the changes.

If you have made a bunch of completely different kinds of changes to lots of different files, this can lead to some confusing updates, like "Changed a whole bunch of stuff in different files".

So we're talking about the ability to interactively select a subset of files, commit those changes with a useful description of what's changed in THOSE FILES ONLY, and then repeat the process a number of times with different subsets of files.

good idea 40hz.

if the section gets active enough we can consider splitting it up into multiple sections.

Seems like a good idea to me, and well argued. I will add it.

Thanks for pointing out the inconsistencies; they will be fixed in next release.

Pretty addictive, thank god there is a way to circumvent the addiction:

On a totally unrelated note, a cool thing about this is the source code is provided with the game (written in lua).

Great stuff  More screenshots please!

I thought we might try adding a new section of the forum specifically for discussion of non-Windows software (and hardware), so here it is!

I know we have lots of people on DC that love linux, embedded hardware like Raspberry Pi, mac, android and ios, and it's probably time we had a special section for such discussions.  It would also be a good place to discuss cross-platform software, and may also be a good place to discuss non-windows related hardware.

Don't be shy about posting here -- it may take a little while for this section to reach critical mass.

Unicode Image Maker / Re: Text BackGnd colour
« Last post by mouser on August 29, 2013, 10:48 PM »
Even though you set a background color, when it saves the .png image it marks the background as transparent.
That is a default behavior, so the background will always be transparent, as long as you save as .PNG.
