Having some more differentiated icons is not a bad idea.. I might ask dc member Hamradio to look into it -- he has made a bunch of really great icons for SC.
If you find any good 16x16 free icons you think are better for something specific, let me know.

One thing that often confuses me:
If you choose the style of the start-/endpoint *before" you actually draw the line, at the first line the endpoint is unaffected from the setting.

thanks xbeta -- that bug is now on my todo list.
hopefully fixed in new upload.

Did you happen to see my post above about enabling use of hte arrow keys and changing the cross hair and box color during selection?

bubba, let's discuss in a separate thread.

hmm, that's an interesting idea.

i certainly could add an option to invert colors when printing.

and i could add an option to auto-grayscale while printing -- but i wonder if there is any point in doing that since a laser printer driver must have it's own function for doing that?

I will try to fix that too.

Good discovery!
Right you are, i can confirm the bug.  That *is* annoying.

I shall fix -- should have a beta to test in next couple of days.

Nice Thank you

That should not be.

Can you try the latest version?

And remember to minimize the program into the tray, and then do a capture.  If it's truly minimized in the tray before the capture, it should not be shown at all afterwards with that option.

Anyone else can verify?

Hi Barvetal.
To make sure we are on same page:

It only happens if the Screenshot Captor is actually on the screen (not in the tray), right?
That is, SC may not be in the foreground, but it's not minimized right?

The problem is caused because of this:

The "after capture minimized" option really should be called "after capture, don't restore from tray", because if the program was visible BEFORE the capture, it will be minimized in order to capture, and then SC will try to restore back to where it was BEFORE the capture.

However, the bug is that when it does that, it can appear in front of another window, even though it does not grab focus.

I will fix. Stay tuned for an update this week.

Ok looks like i need to go and check this out.
ClipText should be the full text of the clip.

One possibility is that the CSV output is not formatting items with newlines or quotes well, resulting in excel import being incomplete.

Could you check that actual txt file and see if ClipText is really blank?

« Last post by mouser on September 03, 2013, 07:15 PM »
I'm not opposed to adding something like this.

However, I'd first like to make sure this is wrong:
Then again, in case of larger text clips only a small part is being transferred, viz ExcerptText only (the actual body is mostly skipped)

Because the first step should be to ensure that the current CSV style export is exporting ALL important data.  That way, it can always be parsed by a simple utility and searched and indexed, etc.

If what you say is true and it's not exporting all of the clip text, then that has to be my first priority to fix.

Can you check?

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: [Feature Request] Encryption? Password Protection?
« Last post by mouser on September 03, 2013, 07:12 PM »
It's a very good question, but i'm afraid rj has the most practical answer.

Which is that trying to add protection and encryption into CHS would not be easy, and would never be all that secure.

I may look into ways i can make the database on disk somewhat encrypted from naive eyes, the bottom line is that CHS is never going to be truly high security.

So, as rjbull describes, the best solution is to use a proper password utility, and instruct CHS to NEVER COPY text placed on the clipboard from such an app.

See also this thread:
https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=16431.0

It describes how CHS will ignore text that is placed onto the clipboard and tagged with an "IgnoreClip" security tag.

Can you try the beta version posted here:

The problem you are reporting I think was fixed in that release and had to do with moving the configuration file between computers of different locales.

« Last post by mouser on September 03, 2013, 01:19 AM »
You said that it's using the backup instead of the latest -- is it possible instead that its merely resetting to all default options?
Second question: is it possible that this behavior only happens after restarting the computer?

i'm not sure what you are saying -- but it seems like you are describing a bug that needs to be fixed -- rather than describing a need to turn off backups.
can you maybe try to describe a bit more what you think happens wrong?

You mean just the case where it creates a single .bak file of the ini?  Why would you want to disable that?

Find And Run Robot / Re: Drive gets lost / disappears
« Last post by mouser on September 02, 2013, 11:49 AM »
That sounds like FARR is trying to be smart and fix up the drive letter for searching.  What it *thinks* is happening is that Q drive is a portable drive and is changing it's letter.

Let me add an option to FARR to disable this behavior.  Stay tuned for a beta update in a day or so.
