Yeah Logitech mouses are weird. I love my wireless mouse though..being able to use it on my bed in the dorm is nice (no problems charging it since I remember to put it back into its slot when I'm going out). Though I do prefer my laptop's battery operated Logitech VX Revolution. The battery life that thing gets is insane..

Maybe I should also mention that the battery life on my MX Laser 1000 is quite long -- when I'm not using it. It can hold still, powered on for many weeks! The big drain on the battery seems to be games or things that require holding down the buttons (as opposed to clicks now and then). Normal, non-game usage and the lith-ion battery lasts quite a while.

When they built LCD monitors and laptops to cater for those, will they be allowed to call them 42" Super Wide  ?
When their height might be 5"

RobC: All monitors and TV sets and screens in general are measured diagonally from corner to corner. And in response to the above quote: That's why it's important to know the aspect ratio. A 42in. "Super Wide" that was only 5in. tall would be something close to 8:1 (which means that it's 8 times as wide as it is tall)

Use the Pythagorean theorem for the real answer. A^2 + B^2 = C^2, where in this case A = 5 and C = 42 which means B is about 41.7 inches. Or, to put it in a more readable format: The monitor screen is 5" tall, about 41.7" wide, and is measured/advertised as 42" (diagonally).

in that case, will a DVI-VGA adapter work?

A DVI-VGA adapter will work to get it to plug in properly, but you still lose the benefits of DVI (DVI is digital, VGA is analog), and thus don't have the nicer picture quality. It's like recording a vinyl record album to mp3. Sure, it's playing as a digital mp3, but that doesn't improve the audio quality beyond the original vinyl record.

2 pages? I used to keep up every day, but then I took a break for about a month or so... back in March or so. Now I'm at 43 pages of unread messages.

I just check the first page of unread messages every now and then and wait for the monthly newsletter to find topics I missed.

i also checked out the DVI part and from the table i saw in the specs part (pic), i guess i'm covered here..

Be sure to notice that that monitor doesn't come with a DVI cable to connect your monitor to your PC! Just a VGA (D-Sub) cable.

Why buy a pirated copy in asia? You already bought the full product, which isn't working. Normally I don't advocate this kind of stuff, but since you're legally an owner of the product and they can't seem to get it to work for you, why not just find a crack for it online somewhere?

Don't buy a pirated version. You already paid for the real version. Find a working version online, since you paid for it already. I think you're entitled to have your software working.

On the other hand, what João comments, having two files side by side, it's a big plus, and a true one, not mentioned too often.

I prefer dual monitor for this. I often have documentation in one monitor and coding in the other. Or I can leave IRC on in one monitor while I do stuff on the other. It's nice!

I'll just say this: My first LCD monitor I bought had built-in speakers. They suck! I didn't go all out for quality as I was just trying to get a monitor for my new computer but I'd rather they spend the money on quality of picture than throwing in some useless speakers/usb/whatevers.

Quality of picture is most important. Anything else is fluff.

Definitely get DVI. I'd go for dual DVI if I could, but that's because I have two computers and two monitors. One computer is dual monitor, the other isn't. In other words, two computers are using the same monitor. It's like a TV you can switch the inputs on. It's nice, but the quality is limited on one computer since it's a DVI/VGA and the other monitor only has one VGA (no DVI). :-(

You could also get a small HDTV with a DVI so you can connect your TV/PC/Whatever to it.

There are some advanced wireless mouses out there. Like this Genius (longest URL ever) that lets you plug the USB cable to recharge the batteries, much like the iPod (Apple developed something really nice there).

I'm very happy with my Logitech LX7, and I would not give up on wireless not even for all money in the world :D. Of course, this one uses AA batteries, so I don't have mouser's problems :P

I like how they specify that the mouse is Vista capable... and who would want a mouse with a dern receiver?

"That thar dern receiver dun lost mah connection!"

I bought a rechargeable Logitech Wireless MX1000 mouse a couple years ago. I've had problems with the mouse jumping around the screen or not responding to movement. Contacted tech support and they said it the receiver needs to be 1 foot away from electrical equipment. Excuse me? A mouse that needs to be away from electrical devices?

I've had the mouse die on my a few times while in use, but to be honest it hasn't happened in a while because I hardly use the thing. I much prefer my trackball as it requires less desktop space and doesn't hurt my wrist.

If I were to get another wireless mouse in the future, I think I'd go for the rechargeable AA batteries option.

The halfway point tally is up for the contest. Docoto is still in about mid-place ranking in at 11th out of 20.

Docoto Defense:
Point Total: 6300
Weekly Blogs: 1200
Monthly Blogs: 1200
Website/Forum: 0
Art: 100
Notes: Cool vids in the blogs! You've got enough to make a site. Love the design thoughts in your blogs.

The gap is getting larger as the team with the most points has about 10,300 and the team with the least points has about 1,700.

Many movies/games/events have used similar websites for similar purposes. I think there was one called ILoveBees or ILikeBees back for Halo or Halo 2. It was probably one of the more popular ones.

Not sure if this is the same kind of thing, but it could be. I suppose we'll find out on Nov 26th.

What would be really cool would be to do something that leaves people guessing for more than just a few weeks. You know, like a countdown timer to October 3rd, 2015 at 4:23pm EST.

It would have to be more than a timer, and more content and mysteries would have to come about between now and then, but it would be quite interesting. Like a book or movie trilogy that tells you bits of the story gradually over time.
8888
I would also highly recommend a series of short screencasts (part1, part2, part3, part4) rather than one big one.
Segments of 2-3 minutes are probably optimal in terms of viewability.

And they make it easier to follow. You can't really follow along with long ones unless you have dual monitors or you pause it frequently. Short clips would allow you to take it all in, then practice. I like this idea.

You would be better off asking here for links to resources and recommendations for good flash game developer communities that welcome all levels of experience.

I am sure Deozaan could probably tell you a few.

Shhh! Don't tell! ;)

Besides, I'm not about to respond to a stupid post like that!  ;D :P

It's too long for the other idiots to read. Shorten it to something like this:

HOW DO I MAKE GAMES IN ACTHISNCRITP??!??! PLZ TELL ME AND MAKE IT EZ TO UNDERSTANDD!!!11 PS IM NOT A N00B LOLZ!

Almost guaranteed you'll get plenty of replies. But they'll probably still not be helpful.

hey Deozaan, you'll have to make a "Revenge of Cody" now

There is speculation in the IRC channel that perhaps this is where Cyborg Cody came from.

Or maybe Cody would like a rematch: Cody vs Wormzilla!

Hooray! I was just thinking of changing my wallpaper yesterday and here they are!

No one else has pointed out yet that some of the old wallpapers are rolled up/taped to the wall in the Reboot image.

Oh, and I didn't notice from the screenshot the tablecloth fraying in the Crystal Ball picture. Nice job! I love these!

Somehow I missed the 2006 version. Good to see it and compare the difference! That's awesome!

It'd be awesome to see the Reboot Diorama done up in 3D by a skilled modeler. :-*

[edit]Oh yeah, I forgot to ask, who lived to be 202?[/edit]

Afterwards, comes a trip to the local hospital where volunteers offer free x-ray testing of gathered snacks, to detect toothbrushes before they are consumed.

You sure you didn't mean razor blades or other sharp objects? At least that's the Halloween spooky story...

This has been mentioned in a couple other threads here, but I just found out about it today:

Active Desktop Calendar

It allows you to put a calendar on your desktop with calendar items in a list, as well as a tasks/todo/notes area. You can also import your calendar (ICAL) from Google or Outlook.

8896
I went to a week-long financial seminar given by a guy named Scott Marsh who very clearly laid out info on finance. His website has lots of financial information. He also says that for the college course he teaches, The Millionaire Next Door is the "textbook" he makes the class use, and that's all they use.

One cool thing he told me about was a website called PowerPay.org that has lots of money stuff you can do. Like make a calendar to pay off your debt, and mess around with it until you can find out the fastest way to pay it off, or other options. I'm not sure of all the features of the site, but it might be worth a look.

Also, again when it comes to getting out of debt and building up savings, a really good book is The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. This book gets you excited about building wealth and lays out steps very clearly on how to do it. It's not a get rich quick book, so expect to work hard and have patience. Word of warning: In my opinion the first chapter or two mostly consist of Dave trying to convince you to believe the book is good and has good info, so it may come off as one of those infomercials where everyone says how great something is, which automatically makes you not believe it. Once you get past those chapters it really is great and has good info.

Okay that's all for now.

I usually can't stand any kind jewelry. Watches, necklaces, bracelets. I don't have any.

The only thing I have is my wedding ring.

EDIT: Though I've wanted this watch just for the geek factor for a few years:

PS: that specific little dude has a very cool white dog! (Also, probably non-european people will have more trouble to figure out who he is)

Your clue made me think of Tintin, but I couldn't remember his name. But that's okay since Lashiec already said it. :)
