Thanks for answering this Tomos.

somehow got confused between the highlighting rectangle and the text object.

That's just what I was about to suggest might have happened.  It's a bit too easy to confuse the two.

Nice find -- I love little essays like this.

If you find that funny ... ?

Personally I found that holocaust "joke" pretty offensive.

On a thread marked NSFW, I'm hesitant to remove it.

Still, when i see such posts, like the political posts, i just think ah, maybe that's one of the reasons we seem to have less and less new people joining our family here..

Maybe I'm being overly sensitive -- I'm just more and more feeling like we have to do something to improve this place, and seeing posts like this doesn't make me feel good.  Perhaps if I felt like we were a thriving community it would just be a tiny drop in the water.  But I feel like we are treading water and things like this start to feel like we loading up our own pockets with stones.

I should say that ArizonaHot has posted tons of interesting inoffensive posts, so I know know offense was meant by this one, and I don't mean to single any one out.  Like I said, in the whole scheme of things, this isn't a big deal -- it's just coming at a time when i'm spending a lot of time worrying about how to make this site a more welcoming site for new people..

Strange.. I'm going to send you a personal message through the forum and try to help track down the issue.

Lou Reed, one of the greatest rock and roll songwriters and performers of all time, has died.

He was one of the true greats.  His early music with the Velvet Underground is amazing.  His solo work is amazing.

Nice idea!

Maybe add a "skip" button since it's autoloading from same folder?

Another idea: instead of autoloading next, how about supporting the dropping of multiple files at once, and so it automatically advances through the drop lost.

I loved the main game (and Sniper Elite v1), but did *not* like the zombie army DLC.  Just wasn't enjoyable.

Hmm that's an interesting idea.

There is a %numinc% and %num% field you can use in filenames that may do what you want or close enough to it.

Btw, is it possible to capture multiple (overlapping, or adjacent) windows, for example by shift-clicking on several windows that are currently visible?

Can you elaborate how you would want to use this?

The easiest way now would be to just make sure they are on a plain background and then capture the entire screen.
Once you've captured the entire screen you can use SC to remove the background area (as long as it's a relatively solid color).

Is the window you are trying to capture a child window, sitting in front of the main application?

If so, try moving it off of the parent background window (may require resizing main background window).

Because of the way the transparency capture works, SC has to do some unusual coloring behind the active window, which seems to fail if the window is a child window in front of a parent window from the same application.

General Software Discussion / Re: Is the day of the paid OS over?
« Last post by mouser on October 23, 2013, 09:34 PM »
This gets us back to our discussions of how the entire internet is becoming an advertising delivery platform.

Apple can give away the OS because they make a fortune on the hardware and they can kill off any competition that is charging for the operating system.

Google can give away its services and kill off all competition, as long as they are making huge profits off of forcing ads down our throats.

These corporations are always happy to make half their product free as long when doing so kills their competition and doesn't interfere with the way they are getting rich.

The real question I think we are going to be asking ourselves in a decade is, how can we get back to a world where we just PAY reasonable amounts for the things that we value.  Instead of playing this game where everything *SEEMS* free but in reality it's just a bait and switch or a delay until they become a monopoly.

I'm really starting to long for products and services that charge enough for each item/service to make a reasonable profit on that item/service.  What a crazy idea.

Nice detective work, App -- another confirmed spammer.

Any company so committed to spam trickery is one to stay away from.

Living Room / Re: Razors and Intellectual Property (Patents)
« Last post by mouser on October 20, 2013, 11:00 AM »
I have been on the receiving end of a patent troll who tried to (unsuccessfully) extort/intimidate me away from a software program on an absolutely silly basis.  Despite the fact that the patent troll failed, I came out of the experience firmly convinced that the patent system is completely broken, and is yet another industry which has built a fiefdom out of extracting maximum legal costs, and benefit those corporations with the largest bank reserves.

Having said that -- I have to disagree with those who say that the very idea of intellectual property protection is unimportant.  I think that without some system to ensure that inventors are properly compensated for their discoveries, the result would be large corporate marketing giants what come in like vampires and simply do a better job of mass producing/marketing/monopolizing/bullying/etc than the original inventors.

So I believe there has to be some middle ground.  I don't have the answers but we could start by removing the middlemen between the inventors and the producers.

It's nice to have some questions I can answer -- better than the ones where I have to reply "I have no idea why that would happen"  :-[

Could it be that after a big clipboard, which is rejected because it was too big, any other clipboards thereafter are also "rejected"?

No, that would indicate a different problem.

Assuming you have CHS set to make a sound when it copies a clip -- if you hear that it's not copying the clipboard when it should be, what you can try is right-click on CHS icon and select "Re-establish Clipboard Chain".  This will fix a problem caused by another program messing up the clipboard chain in windows and preventing CHS from getting notifications about new clipboard contents.

Site/Forum Features / Re: I give up: how to find my forum postings?
« Last post by mouser on October 19, 2013, 09:37 AM »
Two ways:

First, you can do so from your Profile -- if you click the "My Profile" link at top, then near top left you will see a link "Show Posts".

Second, from any thread, you will see user names and avatars (you still need to set an avatar for yourself by the way), and under that you will see a link "Posts: ###"  -- click that to view any users posts.

Tip: At the very top of the forum page where it says "Greetings [USERNAME] are also some quick links, and one of them will take you to "Show new replies to your posts", which can also be useful.
8673
I have another clipboard manager also running, my old one

this could also be to blame -- sometimes clipboard tools misbehave and prevent others from capturing.
8674
Hopefully CHS is still being developed, it got awfully quiet here.

I apologize.. I've been very slow working on my DC apps in the last month or so as I've been working on my Mewlo project -- but I do plan to switch to DC mode very soon and stay there until the end of the year.

Is it a giant clip? CHS has a default max setting for text clips, which was only recently increased.

Check on the Capture Options tab.
